Yes, it is a choice. Not an easy one but one I think the Cowboys should make. The Cowboys are about $2 million over the CAP right now, and they need to clear about $6 million more to cover the rookie pool. But they can easily restructure Lamb and save $19 million. They can extend Micah and save another $19 or $20 million. That should give them enough room for rookies and maybe 1 couple of their own free agents.
Then in 2026 Dak's number drops to $67 million. Lambs goes up to $39 million. But it should be manageable. And, if they want to move on from DAk in 2026, they can. They would eat a lot of dead money but by 2027 he would be off their books entirely.
