Steven showing his cap genius. Can’t wait for him to try the “income tax” advantage.

That just it .......I could be wrong, but I don't see Parsons letting them drag it out w/o it getting messy, perhaps via media. He knows exactly what he's worth and what he can get from another team. Remember all last season he said was Dak and Lamb's time. He was perfectly fine waiting until this year to get his done.

Also......playing for his 3rd DC in four years doesn't help
I thought it would be the 3rd in 3 years

No team is trading a first round draft choice unless they’re getting a first in return. Team owners are not going to deny their fans the festivities of the NFL draft. The days of multiple firsts for any player are over. Parsons might garner a player or players in return along with perhaps a second round pick. That’s unlikely. Cowboys best move is to sign him.

Trade him but you have to replace him or at least his contribution to the D. Always running the risk with a trade of taking a big step backwards. I am in favor to signing him, working with him to get the most output possible on the field and working on his personal maturity. The latter is a challenge but it is the best choice IMO.
They are not trading him.

you can’t replace a player like him.

when his speed goes, then he won’t be elite.

then trade…maybe.

Plus, by signing late, Jerry has a reason as why he didnt spend in free agency (I had to keep the CAP in case Micah played on existing contract, rather than the reduced 1st year of a contract extension). This is why Micah asked for the contract to be sorted sooner rather than later.
They can free up some 2025 cap by extending his contract. Maybe 20M.

all the money gets pushed into years 2-4.

but it hits in 2026 big time.

The only reason you trade anyone is because you get more in return. I am not against trading Micah, IF the plan is to rebuild from scratch and you can get a significant haul of draft picks for him. It would take at least 2 first round picks and probably 2 second round picks as well, for me to trade Micah. And I would want to be fairly certain the picks would be in the top half of the draft. I would have traded CeeDee before I would trade Micah.

I would entertain any offers for trades, for any player on the team. But let's not pretend that even getting a haul of draft picks changes anything. Draft picks are not guarantees. Even 1st round picks are 50-50.

I also do not believe that because they shoved so much money at Dak, that's a good reason trade Micah. If Dak's contract is the problem, then plan on ridding the team of Dak's contract.
Dak's contract is the problem and he hasn't even played on it yet. You think Jerry plans in ridding the team of it?

Yes.

March 2026 is the earliest date. Has to be done early March.

POST-6/1 RELEASE

2026 Dead Cap: $28,005,000
2027 Dead Cap: $34,000,000
2026 Savings: $39,691,666

very important that Lance continues to develop..

the team still pays the 2025 cap hit from the old contract. 50M

but the extension killed our 2025 cap. No way around it.

Jerry basically paid extra to keep Dak around.

You can not keep paying these players these max type deals. The roster isn't talented enough to make up for the short comings of the rest of the roster. Dallas had paid Lamb, Dak, and I am sure Parsons will be next. The team is going to be too top heavy.

We could be in a similar position with Dak if he's not better that what he showed the first 7 games last season going forward.
We 'are" in a similar position if not worse. Dk is regressing not improving. Our only out is if e e have a decent backup when Dak taps out again

Yeah I think people forget that Daks extension really hasnt even started yet so moving on from him isnt happening soon. Plus he has $290M in cap hits remaining over the four years of this extension. If they choose to not restructure him this year it might be something to watch, but odds of that seem slim.

Jeez, how many interviews does he give? It seems like he has quotes every day now. It is just crazy to think after years of hearing the grief Jerry gets from doing all these interviews, to see Stephen do more and more. They are both addicted to their own voice. Sad.

I look forward to when Jerry is gone and it is all Stephen. Jerry has a way of saying nothing and very rarely got defensive. I feel Stephen is going to crack and won't be able to get out of these messes.
Can't wait. It will be sweet poetic justice watching cap boy crash and burn as the face of the broke back Cowboys

Thats assuming they dont restructure him this offseason though. If they do it changes those numbers completely. Will Jerry take the $90M cap hit this year?

Yeah…I’d like to know who we are replacing our All Pro Edge rusher with.

8)
Yeah well it is impossible to meet your demands at the moment so stop asking

If they trade him it will be because they don't think his contract will be worth paying and they will favor the draft capital

Having someone in place to replace the Lion is secondary

But I hear you. I would like to know the future as well. It would be nice
