Jerry was the preferred owner and got the purchase. Get your facts straight. The environment was not a matter of purchase and both Oakland and Dallas walked that path for 10 seasons.

The walk had to still be walked. Not everyone in cheap property money or head of horrid conditioned workers was right for the NFL.

Jerry got his money from the Teamsters and kept on forging and improving the team.

He was the preferred owner only because he had cash and would be no waiting period as either of the renowned NBA owners.

And to boot for Bum who had a hard-on for Landry who he couldn’t fire due to agreement with Murchison knew JJ was intent on making a coaching change.
 
Why? Answer is because we drafted them. It's the definition of insanity to keep running it back with the same core group of players that emphatically showed they aren't up to snuff.

It was a desperate trade during season which did bolster 2018. But didn’t bolster 2 non playoff seasons following.

I suppose an argument could be made pro and con.

But it wasn’t a FA offseason move. Something the Cowboys in recent years rarely make a splash in.
 
The "we like our guys" approach to team building is a strategy that will never build a winning team.

Holy Larry, how in the world did you miss that? Listen up. To give up a 1 plus for a player, that player must be the one who puts you over the top. Your conclusion is weak, reread and think, man. Why in the world would you give up multiple high draft picks if that player will only lead you to .500 and below? Especially since you're going to have to pay him right away. Do you really not get this?

In this case, the con is way to big to overcome any pro's. It's not about Cooper, he's a good player. It's about what we needed to get over the hump and get into playoff contention. One very highly paid WR was not the answer, stupid trade.
 
Because, you can't turnover the entire team every season you don't win a SB. You have to maintain some of what you have.

I mean...duh.

No doubt. Agree!! But what spurred the trade was induced with our owner wanting to save Prescott.

If 2018 had been another non playoff season then it would have been a tough sell to extend his QB beyond his 4 year rookie contract which he was determined to prove benching Romo was right decision.

2018 season was saved spurring a losing record into a playoff run and arguably saving our young QB’s career in Dallas.

Now whether saving Daks career in Dallas was a pro or con is arguable. But for Jethro’s agenda I’d argue it was worth it to him. And that 2018 season arguably saved Daks career in Dallas.

No, I think it was about remaining relevant every season.

We were headed for a down year, there was zero doubt of that. The team that had been built up was losing pieces. You just let that year play out and take the draft picks, and we'd have been far better off than trading valued picks for a high priced WR.

Don't get me wrong, if we'd have had a super bowl contender, then the trade would've been fine. This is Jerry, once again, being the worst GM in the NFL at planning and looking ahead.
