Are we trying to pull off some sort of Moneyball?

I'm starting to wonder if we are trying to pull off some sort of "Moneyball" style form of team building were we are looking at certain metrics that the general public doesn't generally perceive as valuable to sign lower dollar FA and acquire players via trade.

I'm not saying that it is a positive or a good thing, but it certainly seems like they are targeting certain players who have an athletic profile over an NFL pedigree.

Our offseason seems to have a theme... from the coaching search/hire to the FA period, to the players we are adding...
It isn’t as complex as money ball
‘Hey let’s get youngish former first rounders who are cheap because they haven’t produced to expectations’
I mean at least they came up with something but it’s hardly rooted in complex data science

I too despise that they do not use every advantage to try to win.

They hold onto coaches too long because they don't want to have sunk costs. They decide to not even consider parts of the FA market because of the potential cost.

Drives me nuts.

Honestly, just seems like they aren't even trying. They throw out a few mediocre moves and think the fans should be satisfied.

We have waited 30 years for them to build a winner. At this point, we belong with long time losers like the Bills, Vikings, Dolphins, Lions, Bears, Panthers, etc that have never won or have been losers even longer than us.

You know that the Cowboys have a sabermetrics department right?

You think they do nothing? Make reports that are ignored?

at least they seem to have some kinda plan and are following it.
i don't mind taking chances on fmr 1st rounders....and younger players....as long as we address those areas in the draft.
better than what they did last year.
Yeah, like Greg Hardy and Trance and...hold it. You sure you don't mind?

its a lazy way of player evaluation. crunching tape? just look up former high draft picks that teams are looking to get rid of. sounds good on a press release.

Don't be fooled by all the activity by the Cowboys crap FO. They are putting together a crap team, coached by crap, managed by crap and owned by crap. I promise you they will finish last in their division. More of the same in 2026 if Coach BS stays around.

Actually, Stephen has a EE degree. That means he knows how to do multivariable calculus, linear algebra, and statistics.

I bet you don't even know how to interpret Chi-square results. So how would you know?
Do you think he’s doing good as GM? You see them working magic with some kind of player formulas with free agency Fuzzy? No….that’s how I know. This ain’t engineering dude it’s roster management…and it’s chemical engineering, not electrical….if your gonna come at me all douchy, explain where chemical engineering comes in with roster management, big thermodynamics and O-chem reaction mechanisms he looks at with player evals right?

And no I don’t interpret Chi-square results…. I forgot most of the stats, calculus, physics, inorganic/organic chem i took years ago as I haven’t had to use in my career in the medical field…..but Stephen probably forgot it too since he doesn’t do that as the GM smart ***.

You have started to make an argument. You basically gave some parameters, didn't look at the salary clustering and gave an obviously biased interpretation of our signings. Then basically waved your hands.

At best you have shown that if none of the Cowboys signings don't cancel any of those contracts we might get 4 picks.

It's still halfassed after I have called you on it two hours ago. I am not going to show you how the system works.

You've made up your mind and looking for confirmation. Any discussion is a waste of time in that context. I am fine with the disposition.
I am not looking for any confirmation. Confirmation comes around this time next year.

You realize that Stephen's career includes a sabermetric department he founded yes?

And comparing the level of math in EE to your 2 semesters of calculus is amusing.
