Video: Steve Smith 89 - Matthew Golden

Not for nothing, no one is a perfect evaluator. If they were, they would be a GM with a 8 figure paycheck, except in Dallas.

I don't follow Steve, but at least his take is based off his opinion as a receiver and some film review. Beats some posting that hot take stuff from ESPN/FS1 where two people are seeing who can be louder or have an off the wall take.

Even NFL scouts/GMs/ make mistakes too, or overlook, or don't dig too deep in to potential issues.

Paxton Lynch, for example, had the arm and size GMs drool over. But supposedly he wanted to play Xbox over learn the playbook. Can't find that out on just watching tape.
Yeah I mean there’s nearly no way to tell how a young kid who becomes an instant millionaire is going to react to having to work harder than they ever did.

Some of them want to party, some of them realize they are already set for life if played right. Some just peak at a the college level.

The human element is a tough one even with interviews….as they are all coached to say the right thing.

Golden would be such a disappointing consolation prize for a lost season.

Look at some other years where we lost our QB and went in the tank. In the 2011 draft, we got Tyron. In the 2016 draft, we got Zeke. In the 2021 draft, we got Parsons. Golden isn't even on the same continent with those guys as prospects. Yeah, I know, you can only choose from the draft class you have, and there's not a lot of difference makers available this year. It's still a letdown.

This class is brutal…it’s basically Hunter / Carter and a bunch of guys in the top 15 who will likely go on and have nice long careers just not the game changers you’re typically getting that high.

Would love to trade down just don’t think it’s realistic this year.
