Draft week is here!!!!!!!

Interesting note:

In their first 32 drafts the Cowboys selected 25 quarterbacks.

In their last 32 drafts the Cowboys selected 6 quarterbacks.

if you trade back 2 far then you are grabbing 2nd round talent in the first. Kind of like we did with Guyton.
That is nothing exclusive to the Cowboys. It happens every year.

At some point in the 1st round each year, the number of players with 1st round grades runs out before the end of the 1st round.

Every team picking late in the 1st is drafting a player with a 2nd round grade.

The most popular opinion seems to be that trades will be scarce because nobody wants to move up after the first ten picks are gone.

Still, I believe there will be opportunity for the Cowboys to trade down if only two QBs have been drafted at that point. If only one QB has been taken at this point, there are a few teams unable to hold their bladder long enough and the Cowboys could ask for the moon.

How about the idea of trading completely out of the 1st round? I know, most will hate teh idea. However, Chicago, Seattle and Buffalo each have two picks in the 2nd round.

In particular a pretty equal trade according to the chart, would be the Cowboys trading the #12 overall pick to the Bears for the #39 and #41 picks in the second round along with #72 in the 3rd round. This would give the Cowboys five players in the top 76.

The Cowboys would have #39, #41, #44, #72 and #76 in the top three rounds.

If there was a player they loved enough to trade two 2nds and a third for they’d have already drafted the guy at 10. The Bears are worse than the Cowboys. They need more draft picks, not less.

I'm sure you are right, I'm just pondering the what-ifs.

That's the interesting part to me, the way a draft unfolds. There is literally an exponential amount of possibilities, every pick influences the next and the possibilities continue to branch out.

And who's to say the Bears don't want two players in the top 12? If they get Jeanty in the 10th, it might be nifty to grab a monster O-lineman like Campbell or Membou for him to run behind for the next ten years. Then again, take TE Tyler Warren and now Caleb Williams has two new best friends.

Caleb’s circle of friends notwithstanding, perhaps the Cowboys should try to acquire the Bears’ 1st round pick. Dak could use a few “friends”.

12 is an odd spot this year. In every mock I've seen no one sticks out as a STUD player at that position.

It could be that DAL has plenty of holes on the depth chart that need fixing.

RB: I don't see a RB worth the #12 pick (not even Jeanty).
WR: It's a stretch. They'd be a WR2. I think Golden & McMillan could do great as WR2 but not at #12
OT: I mean if Banks is there, I would find it hard to pass up, but it'd mean reorganizing the OLine (Banks LT, Guyton to RT)
TE: Only 1 TE worth a 1st round pick this year and he'll be gone by 12.

DT: Mazi is in a make or break season. Would *LOVE* Graham but he'll be gone by 12
LB: Overshown has shown he could be great but the injuries... gonna need someone.
DB: I mean, DAL has needed 2ndary help for years. Depth is *ALWAYS* a problem.

Dak doesn't need a few friends, he needs a gang.

He needs two productive backs and I think he has zero at this point. The Cowboys need to double down on the position this draft.

Absolutely, another legitimate receiving threat is required.

I feel as though the Cowboys are settling at TE with Fergie&Schoon. I think they could do much better.

Always feed the O-line in every draft. Always.

For anyone who feels the Cowboys are set at a particular squad on offense, consider their luck when it comes to injuries.

This is why I'm in favor of trading down.
