News: Proposal to ban tush push FAILS by two votes, sources say

You don't know who Captain Comeback is?

I guess he didn't get the memo that not being able to spike the ball would "eliminate" exciting comebacks and last minute scores.
Some people like today's game. The athletes of today are different then in the 20's.

It’s the most garbage play in nfl history. It should be banned just for the fact that it is garbage cringe not worth watching demeans the entire sport. If people wanted to see that, they’d watch rugby but it’s terrible so they don’t.

I don't get it so you don't want spikes? All they are is incomplete passes....
Not even an exciting incomplete pass. Isolating one type of play to ban contending it’s not exciting to watch while not making an equal effort to ban all plays that are not exciting to watch is disingenuous at best. Sour grapes bull**** at worst.

A lot of times when the Eagles run the play, Hurts doesn't even need any pushing to his tushy. He's already 1-2 yards downfield anyway. It probably adds a small amount to an already high leverage play.

And the quarterback immediately throwing the ball at the ground in front of his feet is not garbage?

so you would be happy with two linemen picking up the RB and throwing him over the top of the pile?
Think on that; its just a step down the same road as the tush push
That’s not what happens on the tush push. Every team don’t have the personnel to run the tush push, Eagles been running it for years already and yet no team mimmicks it. It would’ve been a weak ban.

the rule in football had been for a very long time that no assistance to a runner is allowed. Should never have been changed.
It was the rule but it was never called because it was such a judgement call that it was impossible to accurately flag.

Not surprised but the play is anathema to everything the NFL has promoted for 25 years. It’s not exciting, it’s hard to determine first downs accurately and it’s going to become the norm for all teams in short yardage situations, making the game slower and more boring.
Every team has tried to replicate it and failed...hence the attempt to ban.

Trust me....if Dallas was wildly successful with this play, they would have voted to keep it.

This was a Coward's vote. Can't stop it...so call it unsafe (despite evidence) and try to ban it.

Of the nine teams that voted not to ban the play, eight of them don’t play the Eagles this season. Have to believe that crossed their minds. Tip of the hat to the Detroit Lions. They have to play the Eagles this season. Of course, the Commanders have to play them twice. Have to believe that crossed their minds.
There's also a few of those teams that have relationships with Philly...namely Baltimore, Cleveland, Jets. Those teams all trade with each other a lot, play each other in preseason, have joint practices, etc. I was surprised about Detroit though. Philly v Detroit is the odds on fav for NFC Champ game, so I'm impressed they voted with their conscience vs just being a little bytch like Wash, NYG and of course we were

That’s what I said too.

If I’m a defensive player I’m dropping an elbow on the QB’s head or something.
Players usually don't want to intentionally injure each other, since they're all in the same "company", but also because most people aren't scumbag human beings like you and brASScowboy

That’s exactly what they are trying to ban.
I have no problem if they ban ALL pushing...but if they're going to keep offensive players from "combining their pushing power" they should probably keep it even and ban Gang Tackles. That's how most ball carriers get hurt afterall....having 2 or 3 guys diving at him at the same time from different angles to bring him down

If offensive ball carriers have to gain their yardage on their own without assistance, why should 6 defenders be allowed to team up and push him backwards?

the player with the ball gets physical assistance
It is EXACTLY THAT

it is just wrong and if you cannot see that then you are not a true fan of football
go watch rugby
