Cowboys SB Drought - 2025 Assessment

I wish we could post last year's season record predictions. I think I might have been fairly close.
This year might be a little more difficult because of our second string quarterback, and exactly how well he is going to do

I would think every prediction would be based on the QB not being lost for the year.

Nearly every time that happens the team record is going to be bad.

This team, with this schedule? I’d say ten wins is best case, but I could also see them winning 5-6 if Prescott starts all 17. They need a lot to go right, but that’s part of the usual Jones approach, then blame bad luck when you get smacked around in the playoffs.

I’m truly wondering when even the casuals are going to quit buying the Jerry act of not bothering to get over the hump for fear of cap problems later, which they claim to have anyway.

Cap cap cap cap cap. Others make it work and beat you. You just aren’t good at handling it, and/or you want to keep your bonus cash for other endeavors because you’re just so business savvy. Conflict of interest.

Cowboys fans lose across the board yet some still staunchly defend these two.

I think this is a reasonably fair assessment of the Cowboys in 2025. I disagree with some comments about the 2024 defense though. It was not just the Micah Parsons injury. They were banged up at CB and were playing some pretty awful backups to backups that really hurt them. And it wasn't just losing Quinn either. The Cowboys defense got pummeled by the Packer with Quinn.

The one thing I think is that every year no one knows what any team will look like when the season starts. Like the Cowboys in 2024, teams will suffer injuries and have to play backups. That changes everything. If Washington loses Daniels to injury, does anyone think they won't lose some games as a result? Also, some players who had career years in 2024 will not be able to repeat those years in 2025. Will Saquon Barkley rush for 2000 yards again? No player in NFL history has rushed for 2000 yards twice, let alone in consecutive years.

One thing we can be certain of is not everything we expect will come to fruition.

The problem is nobody, including his own son, will tell Jerry the truth. Obviously nobody told him not to resign Dak, because it was a ridiculous move. Not only did he resign him, he grossly overpaid him. So as far as I'm concerned, Jerry can just rot in it.
It all starts with the press. At some point, somebody out there has to have the guts to start calling him out. All the time.

But he took care of that by intimidating/threatening/buying off the media for the most part.

He has a ton of influence. Aikman, Romo and Witten stepping immediately into cushy high end jobs were no coincidence. You cross him and your career is over, and he makes no secret of it. It’s starting to loosen up a bit, but not enough to matter.

He also thinks he is doing a great job and that no one could possibly be better. His ego is larger than Texas. After every embarrassing failure…it’s like, oh ok, back for more of the same. These fans are lucky to have me.

If anybody goes to training camp and reports back they see Joe running from some plays outside of the pocket, I might just bet the farm on this team.

We have the talent, do we have the staff.

we have seen Jerry just be complacent and not caring with no long term plan and only short term one year plans.

Understand, but personally I can’t dwell on the past thinking there’s no hope as long as Jerry’s around. Just not in my DNA.
