Whaddya want on your pizza?

Haven't seen a Pizza Inn in forever. I loved it. That and Shakey's.
When I was little, Pizza Inn was great. Then we moved away and when we moved back, the Pizza Inn quality went down, at least at the one we went to. The crust literally tasted like saltine cracker. It was atrocious. Sadly, it was one of only two pizza places in town. The other was Mr Jim's. Back then, their sauce tasted like it had black licorice in it. Another atrocity. Now it's better.

For me, it's jalapeño and pepperoni...maybe add sausage, if the place has really good sausage. But the jalapeño and pepperoni combo is mouth watering...See? My mouth is literally watering right now!!!

Oh, and I like it thin crust and pie sliced. None of that four squares in the middle, with four tiny triangles!
Rochester is known for excellent local franchises. The national chains like Pizza Hut, Domino's, Little Ceasars and Papa Johns have a real hard time keeping store open.

Pepperoni and sausage is my favorite

I do love a Hawaiian if its done right

I like chicken as well if the place uses good cuts of chicken. Thats more of an occasional thing though

I love a good breakfast pizza. Ham, bacon and egg are my go to there

New Haven style pizza with Pepe's Neopolitan being my personal favorite. But many others are really good.

IMO, most important is a crispy, thin crust. Close 2nd is fresh ingredients and a good sauce that doesn't overwhelm the rest of the pizza.

Don't really have a favorite but some go-tos are:
Pepperoni, roasted peppers, onions, and fresh garlic.
Gorgonzola, yellow and red bell peppers, roasted garlic cloves.
Shrimp Scampi with roasted red peppers, lots of garlic.
Bee sting; spicy deli meat e.g. Soupy with mozzarella drizzled with spicy honey.

Got the family a Ooni Karu 2 Pro pizza oven for Christmas. Making some really good pizzas with it.

And can't leave out a good pitcher of beer.

Pepperoni. Second would be sausage if it is thin sliced. But onions works for me as well.

I hate to say it but none of the pizzerias around me make a good pie. Some have good crust but the sauce sucks. Others the sauce is good but the crust is like cardboard. I don't know what happened to all the good pizza places we used to have around here.

btw, A Sicilian with pepperoni is definitely one of my all time favorites if made right.

I also have to admit I tried pineapple on a pizza once. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. But I would not do it again.

For me it’s all about two items I never want on a pizza: Anchovies and onions. Putting a small fish on a pizza just ruins it for me. I recognize most people love onions but I don’t.

Aside from the above, most traditional pizza toppings are great- pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, mushrooms, black or green olives, Canadian bacon, even pineapple (when paired with Canadian bacon)

Something to be said for just a classic extra cheese pie.

I like all the toppings mentioned here, not finicky. I'll even eat anchovies, but that's a rare request.

The only odd taste I have for pizzas is sometimes I want side cups of non-cooked jalapeños.

Something about the jalapeños raw on the pizza as you eat that tastes much better than the cooked version.

Accidentally discovered that as a teenager while working in a pizza place.

Plain ol pepperoni works just fine but once I gave it a chance a pineapple and ham or bacon pie has become the go to. NY style all the way. I usually take the already very good pie from the local favorite and stick it in the oven to get it good and crispy.

The first time I went to Chicago I asked around to find the best place to get a Chicago style that I'd heard so much about. I almost called the waitress back to tell her I got the wrong order. I ordered pizza, not whatever this casserole type thing was she brought me.

I love Chicago Deep Dish. Any pizza you have to eat with a fork is a good pizza indeed! When I move to new cities, I'll usually google to see if they have a good place that makes them (because they're rare outside of Chicago) in case I get the urge.

Worked at Pizza Inn 20 years, still prefer just plain old pepperoni
Johnny I worked at Pizza Inn too for about a year when I was in high school. I was just a basic pizza maker. They taught me how to twirl the dough and there was a kiddie window where kids would walk up and watch the pizza makers put on a “dough show”.

I had a great time working there. One of the best pranks I’ve ever seen pulled happened when I worked there! Still laugh about it.

We had a Taco Bell across the street and sometimes we would call TB and ask if they would trade 3 large pizzas for a dozen tacos and they would usually agree.

Down the street was our big rival Pizza Hut. One night we called Pizza Hut posing as Taco Bell people and said we would love to trade 3 large pizzas in exchange for a dozen tacos. (This was before “caller ID”, lol) The Hut folks were all over it.

About 30 min later me and my PI buddies watched the Taco Bell parking lot with binoculars and saw the Hut guy delivering a big stack of pizzas. We could see the TB manager shake his head no. We were howling with laughter. The Pizza Hut guy had to head back to Hut with those pizzas and no tacos. Ah the joys of phone pranks are long gone.

Haha, funny. Yeah can't have any fun anymore with caller ID and cameras literally everywhere LOL. Being from Cowtown, ever heard of Burgers Lake?

While I'm a Neapolitan guy there is a place here that makes a cup and char pepperoni with fennel sausage, hot honey, banana peppers, and sriracha hot wing sauce that's killer.

They don't do it anymore but when HEB first opened here years ago they made pizzas back in the deli area. They weren't anything special, but they did make a great breakfast pizza. Thin crust, refried beans instead of red sauce, topped with scrambled eggs, chorizo, jalapenos, and cheese.
