Parsons: "We wanted to do a contract last year."

If they wanted to keep him they should have signed him last year. Now they have a real mess. I think every passing day opens up more trade ideas.

Would they let him play out his last 2 years, tag him twice and then trade him in year 7?
You want tag him with the goal to trade him ?

Do you know about the implifications on the salary cap ? Who will have to account for the tag money after he is traded ? We or the team that will trade for him ?

Folks, start believing, he ain't signing. The Jones boys have missed the boat, now they will just let him play out his final year, have an upset player on their hands who will then leave. If they were serious they would have built the DEF around him and switch to a 3-4.

You’re free to believe whatever you want to. One size most certainly does not fit all.

I’m not defending the Jones’ contract negotiations by any means.

But the fact is that agents and players play the waiting game as well when it suits them.

But again, you believe whatever you want.
Oh that is true.

However it seems that the cowboys are the only ones waiting until deadlines constantly.

This is further proof at least to me that instead of running this franchise like a football team, Jerry runs it with the sole purpose of media attention.

If Micah is telling the truth, he’s basically saying Jerry didn’t want to do a deal early because “we can’t milk the publicity if we sign you early”

If that’s truly the case, then you and I are agreement that Jerry and Stephen Jones are terrible negotiators.

But I notice how deals for both Lamb and Prescott ‘got done’ right before the risk of injury would have fallen on the players.

If I were an owner, I’d be sure to remember that for future negotiations.

He can’t be tagged until next year. And could be tagged three times. Minimum cost would be $28 million for 2026 season. $33+ million 2027, $48+ million 2028. All hits the salary cap for that particular year. Cowboys are not very good managing the cap as it is without creating that nightmare.

It’s not a question of “let him play out his last two years”. Parsons and his agent are smart enough not to participate in even just practice drills that can result in significant injury until they have secured an extension. He can be fined, as he is under contract, but those fines can be excused for players on their first contract. This is the moment Micah’s agent is in his best negotiating position. It is going to be a lucrative deal regardless of whose decision it was to wait.

I wrote about that in my initial post. Maybe you should read it more carefully and try to understand ?
Before answering in a rude tone because of the emotional wave you are in and are not able to because of that.
Yeah, I read it. Nothing he said is controversial or naive. You’re just trying save face now because you made an emotional knee jerk post and that got called out for what it is.

I explained what i think is naive. Denying that by you it doesnt change that. You say you read it. Maybe you did not understand?

And i also wrote that in the last few years there are a lot of situations where he showed that he is very naive. Of course you can deny that also. Thats your right. But please then leave me alone and respect my view of things.

Now you can intepret my post as you want. And if you think your role at this board is to call out people and you feel good about that then keep it up.

I think discussing the topic any further makes no sense since you dont accept arguments or different views but insist on your own opinion. And since you seem to come to the conclusion that the guy is neither dumb nor naive it seems you ignore a lot of facts about him and his behaviour. Another good reason for me to stop argueing with you.

Again i have the feeling that i somehow insulted you with my opinion. I am sorry for that. Didnt meant to.

I don’t know, but in the midst of needing a RB, DT, OL, LB, DB depth, WR, and young QB the past few years, maybe there’s a reason why we have compiled a wealth of possible riches at the DE position.

You didn’t explain what was naive about this specific post at all.

You tried covering for yourself (understanding you were lazily just sniping at Parsons in this instance) by saying “to be fair…he’s made a lot of dumb naive posts,” which is really just tantamount to saying “hey, I may have got it wrong this time, but I just don’t like the guy.”

Yes you are right.

Lamb and Prescott were extended long before they announced it.

You can tell by how they acted towards the media.

Well the only thing that might make sense is that the jones boys are going to make Parsons
play this season and then sign/trade him at some point before draft 2026.
This is some extreme foot dragging by jones boys, and then on top of that they dont tell MP
anything about the why.

Jerry said way back in march or april that MP was still under contract, so that indicated to me
that they may not sign him anytime soon.
I dont know what they are thinking or how they really think of parsons, or if they are thinking
of trading him.

I would have done whatever I was gonna do last year. They could have saved 5-6 mil a year if they had signed Tyler Smith already, because he is a no brainer, and now by waiting his contract just went up due to the other guy who just reset the market.
If another pass rusher gets more than 41 mil per year parsons will cost even more.

Plus it is obvious he doesn't like or understand what Jones boys are doing with him.

Maybe MP should state publicly that he no longer cares, but that if a deal isnt done by a certain date, his price will automatically jump to 50 mil per yr, and a 5 year deal, with 200 mil G.
The only thing that makes sense? You know they did this EXACT same thing with CD and Dak right?

It's funny hearing all the moaning, what changed? Jerry has always been like this...

Well lets see if they sign parsons right before season starts. Those 2 had expired contracts?
Parsons has his 5th year left. I think they may not do the same as with other 2.
