Detailed Milton nugget from QB coach Shimko

Its close, but yes. Milton is young and has years left. Pickens is on a one year deal basically. If he has a great year, they cant afford him.

So Milton wins for me.
If Pickens has a great year we might be in a conference championship but I get your point.

Rush doesn’t have the physical traits and he stuck around here so long because he understands the system and playbook well
A failed system that loses in the first round when Dak is hesitated or doesn’t make the playoffs when he’s hurt. If there was a reason to change it was Rush.

That's something that a lot of QBs don't get, especially young ones.

Obviously, the best QBs in the game are the ones who can create huge plays out of nothing, and Rush just doesn't have the physical talent to do that. But you can go a long damn way in the NFL just by being able to identify a good matchup for your hitch route pre-snap. Just understand when the defense is giving you easy yardage, and take it from them.

The Anthony Richardsons of the world can leap tall buildings in a single bound, but they can't steal 5 yards throwing that basic hitch route. Then fans wonder why some graybeard Joe Flacco type is taking his starting spot.

Not if he wants to remain with the team. He understands CeeDee is one of the highest paid players in the league. If we pay Parsons the team would have to move on from Pickens if his contract demands are unreasonable. If he’s producing and likes being here he won’t get overly greedy. No assurances another team would pay him what he’s asking. Number one WR money is in the $28 million dollar range. He can’t be unreasonable enough to think we can pay 2 WRs‘s number one money.
Bengals do it. Eagles do it. Rams do it.

LOL.

Stop it.

He can have the greatest year by a WR ever and this team wont be in the NFCCG.

You also need to be able to stop your opponent. If Pickens has a great year, it means we were either in a ton of track meets, or blowouts.

How did Dak get his start again?

4th round pick. Romo injury. Never gave the job back.

Milton IMO is much better than Dak coming out of college. (NOT NOW) before you bite my head off.

Because it gives us a glimpse into the future of life after Dak. Sorry to break it to you, the chances of Milton playing this year in the regular season are pretty high. Pickens is going to want WR1 money. I would bet a lot on that.
If Milton was much better than Dak coming out of college, he would’ve been drafted higher than the sixth round. Most had Dak ranked higher than the fourth round, but he had a DUI which is why some believe he fell in the draft. If Milton was what you think he is, New England would have kept him. The jury is still out on Drake Maye. It’s not like he had a great rookie season. When Dak’s days are over it’s likely going to take a high draft pick to replace him.

If Milton plays this season as a starter it’s because of injury. The only other way he’ll get on the field is if the Cowboys use him as a situational QB. I’m giving you the reality of the situation. No one is going to pay Pickens WR1 money unless he has a 1200+ yard season and is a model citizen. The Cowboys certainly won’t be able to afford to pay him WR1 money.

Rush could’ve been replaced years ago. His stay in Dallas was all about the fear of the unknown.

I would be beyond surprised to see Milton play at the level. Dak did his rookie season if he had to play due to injury. This team isn’t nearly as good as the 2016 team. We’re not going to have the running game we did in 2016. If Milton was much better than Dak coming out of college, he would’ve been drafted higher than the sixth round. Bengals do it. Eagles do it. Rams do it.
Birds do it, bees do it
Even educated fleas do it
Let's do it, let's fall in love

In Spain, the best upper sets do it
Lithuanians and Letts do it
Let's do it, let's fall in love

The Dutch in old Amsterdam do it
Not to mention the Finns
Folks in Siam do it, think of Siamese twins

Some Argentines without means do it
People say in Boston even beans do it
Let's do it, let's fall in love

Romantic sponges, they say, do it
Oysters down in oyster bay do it
Let's do it, let's fall in love

Cold cape cod clams 'gainst their wish do it
Even lazy jellyfish do it
Let's do it, let's fall in love

Electric eels, I might add, do it
Though it shocks 'em I know
Why ask if shad do it?
Waiter, bring me shad roe

In shallow shoals English soles do it
Goldfish in the privacy of bowls do it
Let's do it, let's fall in love

Couldnt resist

it has been turrrrible....
It’s hard hitting on a solid backup QB. Rush was the best one we’ve had in years. He had a 9-5 QB record, which is pretty darn good. Most of the backups we used prior to him couldn’t win a game for us. We drafted a couple of QBs that couldn’t beat him out. We traded a fourth round pick for Lance and he couldn’t beat him out. There’s no assurances Milton could have beat him out.

I get it. Bengals sucked last year and had a good offensive output. I just think unlike past teams they got some dogs on offense and if Pickens is single covered and dominating we will go far.

Oh boy…Milton is better than 2016 Dak? At what? You guys forget now Dak carries MS in college without any nfl talent on offense. He’s one of the best SEC QBs of all time.

Big fan of Coop and what he did here...but not sure Lance was a legit project.
