Jerry and Irvin on Parsons contract

Agent is sleazy and doesnt hold the cards he thinks he does. Now he’s stuck with 5% of 53 million over two years as opposed to 5% of 200 million.
Only one not dealing in good faith here is Jerry. He has a decades long history of flogging his players in the press.

Sign him or trade him. Not extending your best player sends a terrible message. Extend or trade.

Sure in a fantasy world you can hold him for three years. It won’t work. The next three years would be awful for the cowboys. I mean just terrible. But I guess you would make your point.

Jerry's spin is such garbage. The agent needs to be involved in the deal, especially with an elite player like Micah. You don't just spit in your hand and call it done.

How he thinks he's in the right is just mind-boggling to me.
The agent is involved. He was supposed to look at the contract details. He simply chose not to. I’m sorry but I don’t feel bad for Micah. He got the richest non-QB deal in history and he’s letting the agent bugger it up. Its dumb. He was going to get paid and then he listened to bad advice.

His agent is looking to make the Cowboys worse by squeezing every dime out of the Cowboys and put them in a bind with the cap. Why are you on his side?

I think Jerry made the offer to Micah and they shook on it. But Micah told Jerry to send the offer to his agent. Jerry's response was that they had already shook on it and the deal was complete, so the agent just needed to sign off on it. The agent was pissed at being bypassed and Jerry is now dug in against the agent. The agent can't afford for his clients to get top dollar without him doing anything at all. (Why do I need to pay you? Those Attitudes will naturally follow.) Jerry is trying to undermine agents and the result puts us where we are. This is not a "let's work this out" scenario, this is a "must WIN" from both sides. Micah is caught in the middle.
Even if they shook on it, the agreement still has to be sent over to the agent for review. The Cowboys never sent over an agreement. It is painfully obvious in how Jerry is campaigning about it to the media.

Simple question from a reporter, Jerry, did the Cowboys send over the contract to Micah and his representative? If no, then nothing more needs to be said. If yes, then say I thought a deal was in place, we sent it over and then Mulugheta balked at it and rejected the offer.

Very simple way to clear things up. Notice Parsons and Mulugheta aren't the ones talking peoples ears off about it. "The lady doth protest too much, methinks."

Highest paid non-QB in NFL history and thats flogging players? Ha!

Micah was looking to get overpaid and he overplayed his hand. He’s set to make 25 and 28 million with the tag over two years. He could avoid that by signing the largest non QB contract in history.

I d ok not even partially like Parsons the person. Think he is immature and a primadonna.

With that being said foe me, anyone who is taking Jerry’s side tells me a ton about that person. I would cross the street if I saw that person walking towards me. LOL

You’re not hearing what Jerry is saying

He hasn’t mentioned years or total value

All he’s said is “most guaranteed money for a non QB. Currently that’s 123m over four years for Myles Garrett.

What if Jerry is offering $125m over five years? What if it’s six years?

Sure, it’s most guaranteed non QB but it’s 25m per year.

Jerry is no dummy. There’s a reason why he keeps leaving out details, even when asked.

You take away “largest non qb contract in history” but Jerry hasn’t said that and that’s not what he’s offering.

He’s got extra years tacked on and lesser AAV.

Like someone else mentioned, I can pay you a million dollars for a Toyota but if I’m writing the contract, I’m only paying you a dollar a year.

And the “flogging the players” is Jerry’s old tactic of trying to make the players look bad either through his direct comments or the whisper campaign that the front office runs through their media lackeys

The problem is the hypothetical at the end of your post. It never happens. I don't think the agent is even considering that possibility. Cousins was different in that he was a one time backup just happy to make those big paychecks. But no team that I can think of made a star player that doesn't want to be on the team play two franchise years. It just doesn't happen, and for obvious reasons. It's not only bad for the player, but really bad for the team.

We don't know who is being unreasonable. There is a sticking point somewhere, and we don't know it.
True. We don't. I'd be surprised if we used the nuclear option as well. It is primarily just a threat. We CAN do that. However, Jerry has the option to wave around. Parsons' nuclear option is to sit out games, but I doubt it gets to that, either. Players looking to be the best of their generation don't sit out seasons, especially since he is under contract.

Jerry said Micah is under contract for 3 years. That’s patently false. Micah is under contract for this year and this year only.

Jerry can prevent Micah from being a free agent and negotiating a new contract by exercising the owners franchise tag, which would automatically, without I negotiation, execute a one year deal that Micah cannot get out of. He either plays for that amount or he can’t play at all.

The next year, Jerry can exercise a second tag, again, without negotiation.

Finally, there is a third tag he can exercise but finally, at that point, the cost is very high for the owner.

The first two tags are bargains for Jerry in a situation like this, paying him significantly below market and below what other players, with better GMs will be signing next year and the year after.

So, Micah, being a first round rookie, can reasonably expect to have a first chance to negotiate a contract after playing in the league seven years which Jerry could, extend to eight.

Eight years without ever being able to decline unless he walks away from his entire career.

Average NFL career lasts 3.3 years.

Jerry is simply betting on being able to “use up” all of Miceh’d prime. His best years. Without ever having tontruly negotiate on somewhat equal footing.

I hope the other players and their agents are paying attention and I’m sure they are.

This is Dan Snyder levels of incompetence
Jerry owns Micah for the next three years at very reduced rates. Micah better get with the program or he risks losing out on lots of $$$.

You are speculating way too much. When has Jerry mot paid above market value? Dak, 88, Diggs, etc. all above market value. Your asinine notion thar Jerry is lowballing seriously strains credulity and makes you look emotional. Your hypothetical is not plausible and not worth entertaining.

Sure sure. I'm sure the agent simply declined to negotiate the contract that would make his client the highest paid player in history (QBs excluded) and net him a literal butt-ton of money. I'm sure he would do that, yep.

Forget that Jerry has run this playbook several times with key players with different contracts and different agents.

Your eagerness to cozy up to Jerry’s authority is not appealing either.

He’s not inviting you to Christmas dinner unless it’s to park cars.

Agent wants 50 million a year. Micah agreed to around 45 with Jerry. Agent tells Micah to renege and only deal with him there. That’s probably the most likely scenario. And I’m on Jerry’s side. The agent is actively trying to prevent the Cowboys from winning by asking for an astronomical figure for a top 5 DE. He doesnt deserve 50 million a year.

I want the Cowboys to win. They wont win if they keep overpaying players. Micah and his agent want to hamstring the Cowboys for years with a bad contract. I don’t like that.

You apparently get more joy from seeing Micah’s IG posts with a new Maybach than seeing a teak being built.

Suddenly its 50 mill a year.. where did this come from?

Jerry is full of shyte

And you think the way Jerry is handling this leads to winning. The Cowboys financial issues are the direct result of how Jerry handles contracts. He’s incompetent at the job of GM.

Yeah I am surprised Micah has been so silent, especially since he has a podcast and a social following. Maybe his agent said it wouldn't be a good look if he went on a bashing spree like the Joneses.
He requested a trade it’s in his best interest to stay silent at this point if that’s what he truly wants, and honestly many fans have felt he’s wanted outta here for a while now. He needs teams willing to give up the farm for him and staying silent may help that cause as it means he’s not trying to be a distraction. Just my take on it.

He doesn’t say what he offered

For all we know, Jerry offered 130m guaranteed for seven years or something similarly stupid. It would technically be the most guaranteed but it would be a terrible deal for Micah.

And for him to say Micah has three years left is totally messed up.

He’s flat out saying that he’s entitled to the franchise years.

He doesn’t have three years. He has one year. He has “control”, or likely in his mind “ownership” for two years after that

God I hate Jerry.

No other owners go out of their way to crap on their players.

He’s so sleazy
And you dont think Michael and his agent wouldnt call jerry on his claim if he offered a 7 year 130 million dollar deal? get real.

And tell me where Jerry is wrong? He stated the FACTS. Michael isnt going anywhere for three more seasons, unless Jerry says so. FACTS... just because those facts hurt your feelings doesnt change the fact that it is facts.

It’s just a fan making up a number to make Micah look greedy. Not even Jerry has leaked anything like that
