Jerry and Irvin on Parsons contract

So its your opinion that Jerry, despite his history of overpaying players, chose Micah to lowball? LMAO

That’s frankly a stupid position to take.
I don't think he lowballed. He circumvented the process of negotiating with an agent who is professionally equipped to discuss contracts. That's dirty and wrong.

If I'm selling my house and have an agent represent me in negotiations with the buyer, I'm not listening to anything that doesn't include my agent. Especially if an old dude shows up with a bag of cash and doesn't want any eyes on the 'deal'.

If Jerry is telling the truth....this might be another case of this same agent causing issues.

Sounds like Jerry is dug in on this

Offer made to Micah that would have made him the highest non QB player in the league. They had amount, years and guaranteed money agreed upon. Sent to his agent to go over and get signed. Agent says they can stick it up their $@$ and we are gonna negotiate all those again.

Jerry says that the years, amount and guarantees aren't gonna change. He feels these have already been agreed on.

Says he can same route as Dak and play out contract and then play on tag if he wants. This is garbage from JJ and he knows it. What Jerry is saying is completely worthless. Don’t believe me, believe what the current NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement says.

Under the current CBA, a club can only negotiate with the player's NFL certified agent, who in this case is David Mulgaletta. Violating this rule can result in the disapproval of any resulting contract or offer sheet. That is a fact.

So even if Jerry and Micah had some private “handshake deal” as Jerry intimates, it’s completely invalid. By the NFL’s operating CBA.

Jerry is saying this to win in the court of public opinion. He knows what he is saying is not valid. But he also knows a lot of fans will fall for it.

Micah is the 4th or 5th best pass rusher in the league. He isnt great against the run.

He was offered a big contract, more than he deserves based on merit, agreed to it and then his agent came in and bungled it. I don’t feel sorry for him.
All wrong. What's next on the list of talking points, Mr. Jones? Micah said some mean words on his podcast once?

This times infinity! Thank you, Bullet.

Now, if a player represents himself, the club can negotiate directly with the player, who in turn will likely hire an attorney to review the terms at an hourly rate.

Jerry made it 100% cear. He said he and Michael have a deal. Years, total money, guaranteed money. Thats it.... deal is done. Agent works for Michael, not the other way around. It is that simple. Listen to the Irvin interview. Jerry cant be any more clear. They have a deal. Now sign the deal or dont.
Nothing was ever in writing as Jerry said. Those details would have to be done with his agent. Jerry knows this. He is lying about having a deal. According to the CBA, since Micah is not representing himself, he cannot negotiate anyway, it has to be an agent certified by the player's association. Jerry also knows this.

My discrepancy with the way it is being described is that normally when a player has an agent the team negotiates with him or her. Once terms are stated, the contract is emailed over and then the player and agent review it together.

So, maybe they sent it over via email and David said screw you via email response or on the phone (although we already know Jerry has not spoken to him because he said he hasn't). Again, if it was sent over it is easy to prove. All the media needs to do is ask Jerry directly if the agreement was sent and rejected. That would clarify everything.

But, either no one has asked or Jerry has failed to say that.
He told Irvin that he has the proof and if Michael wants to go over to his houses he’ll show him …

But, of course, he won’t actually produce it in any other way.

Seems a weird way to go about “proving” something.

At midnight, under the full moon …

What long teeth you have uncle Jerry!

It sounds like jerry has made it personal between him and micah. Like how dare he not honor the handshake deal. Since that is the case, i dont blame "michael" for wanting out.

Don’t disagree that is the way it normally works. And again, he said when we wanted to send it over which insinuates that it wasn’t sent.

In this case, my opinion is Jerry and Micah discussed the contract and had some sort of verbal agreement on what was satisfactory for both parties. Jerry put the contract together to send to his agent. When his agent heard this was done without his involvement or knowledge, he refused to look at the contract and told Jerry to kick rocks and that is where we are at to this day.

Jerry feels he submitted a contract with terms that satisfied both the team & Micah and the agent refuses to review because he feels slighted and that Jerry breached normal protocol.

Jerry should have just followed SOP but then he wouldn’t be Jerry.

Isn't Micah a grown man? Lamar Jackson represents himself and doesn't use an agent.

If Micah didn't want to negotiate with Jerry, he should have just said I won't do this without my agent present.

The CBA requires member clubs to negotiate with NFLPA Certified Contract Advisors if the player is represented by one. If the player represents himself, the member clubs can negotiate directly with the player.

In this case, Jerry knows what he did goes against the CBA because Micah has representation.

He doesn’t say what he offered

For all we know, Jerry offered 130m guaranteed for seven years or something similarly stupid. It would technically be the most guaranteed but it would be a terrible deal for Micah.

And for him to say Micah has three years left is totally messed up.

He’s flat out saying that he’s entitled to the franchise years.

He doesn’t have three years. He has one year. He has “control”, or likely in his mind “ownership” for two years after that

God I hate Jerry.

No other owners go out of their way to crap on their players.

He’s so sleazy
You may not like it, but Jerry DOES own him the next three years. This will end on Jerry's terms, one way or the other.

Jerry said Micah is under contract for 3 years. That’s patently false. Micah is under contract for this year and this year only.

Jerry can prevent Micah from being a free agent and negotiating a new contract by exercising the owners franchise tag, which would automatically, without I negotiation, execute a one year deal that Micah cannot get out of. He either plays for that amount or he can’t play at all.

The next year, Jerry can exercise a second tag, again, without negotiation.

Finally, there is a third tag he can exercise but finally, at that point, the cost is very high for the owner.

The first two tags are bargains for Jerry in a situation like this, paying him significantly below market and below what other players, with better GMs will be signing next year and the year after.

So, Micah, being a first round rookie, can reasonably expect to have a first chance to negotiate a contract after playing in the league seven years which Jerry could, extend to eight.

Eight years without ever being able to decline unless he walks away from his entire career.

Average NFL career lasts 3.3 years.

Jerry is simply betting on being able to “use up” all of Miceh’d prime. His best years. Without ever having tontruly negotiate on somewhat equal footing.

I hope the other players and their agents are paying attention and I’m sure they are.

This is Dan Snyder levels of incompetence
You can spin it any way you want. Jerry owns him the next three years if he wants to. Period. Micah is fighting from a position of weakness.

Tyler Smith has the same agency, so buckle up
And Jerry will control him too. You just don't understand this, do you? As an NFL owner, Jerry can treat these guys like a $5 *****. And the system is in his favor.

Only one not dealing in good faith here is Jerry. He has a decades long history of flogging his players in the press.
You are clearly not the brightest bulb in the chandelier. Jerry has repeatedly made his players the highest paid players at their positions. Rarely has Jerry shortchanged a player. Not sure how you have arrived at your opinion, but the evidence is heavily on Jerry's side about signing his best players to the biggest deals.

I'm not on either side but to be fair, Jerry keeps making that statement but the sticking point may not even be about per-year money.

Jerry has a history of pushing for 5 year deals so it may be that Jerry wants 5 and Micah wants 4. Or it could be that Micah wants a no-trade clause like Dak and the Cowboys are not going to do it. Or it could also be about how much is guaranteed in the contract.

There are way more details and factors that go into a contract like that than just per-year average salary so Jerry repeating the same line over and over means little until the other details come out.

The fact that Micah and/or his agent have not responded to Jerry's repeated comment is very interesting though for many reasons.
I think Micah and the agent have been working this all along because the goal has been to get traded out of Dallas. Don't think Micah wanted to be here.

Jerry has said he didn't send a contract over.. he said he never contacted the agent.

and Micah and the agent have said they reached out a few times and neither Jerry or Stephen would take the call.

Micah has also said they never had any verbal agreement.
