I just finished the series and absolutely loved it. I was a teenager during those years and the series brought back so many forgotten memories and emotions. I even got emotional during the retirement speeches of Aikman, Emmitt, & Irvin. If you were alive and aware during that era you’ll love it.

Finally finished it. It really is good. Its one thing to watch the games and watch the whole story unfold through the eyes of the media but quite another to hear the story told from so many different players and coaches. Some of my takeaways:

1. I have more respect for Switzer. He really was in a 'no win' situation and was just trying to make everyone happy. He was the perfect guy for that messed up situation.

2. I think I finally understand Jerry's point of view on the whole Jimmy thing. Jimmy was more of an individualist. He wanted his credit and recognition apart from the team. Jerry thought he and jimmy were a team and really bonded those first couple of difficult years when they were the only ones who beleived in what they were building. I found it ironic that the Walker trade both seeded the dynasty and ruined it. Jerry really does beleive that he deserved more credit or shared credit for the trade, and Jimmy never denied it. It seems Jimmy taking credit for that move was the initial fracture line and it magnified everything else. I think what was happening was that jimmy would come up with ideas , go to jerry to flesh it out, and then go make moves. They were quite dynamic duo until the success and egos ruined their relationship. They accomplished a lot but both feel they left a lot of meat on the bone.

3. The series kinda skirted over the last 30 years. It didn't really delve deeply into all the errors choosing to focus more on the near misses like the Romo botched hold and Dez's catch/no catch. Romo chalks it all up to bad luck. Says Jerry is blameless.

4. I admire Jerry and what he did for the NFL and its players in terms of growing the money in the game. I just wish he had hired a nerdy football guru like Howie Roseman to advice him. He overestimated his own football acumen and underestimated Jimmy Johnson's contribution which went far beyond trades and player selection. Jimmy's maniacal attention to detail and behaviorial expectations of the players was ultimately the glue that held it all together. The further away from him the team got, the worse the team got.

I am a fan of this team since 1976. Key word is the team... not the player. Dont get me wrong, I still pop out jerseys to wear when I go to the games, I love the player on our team that helps us win. Whats that guy's name... Michael Lawrence that went to Seattle....... dont give one damn about him. Emmitt Smith in Arizona... dont care about him.

So watching this Parsons thing play out and with the season right around the corner, how many of you are reaching the point where you just dont care anymore what happens with the guy?

I am 55 years old and I absolutely love the NFL. I play in 4 fantasy leagues (one is a family league with relatives on both coasts and includes 3 of my 4 daughters, my wife, son-in-law, and 2 cousins on the east coast and a couple of friends.... including that 4th daughters ex boyfriend) I will attend the home opener, the GB game 2 eeks later, and the Broncos game a month later. Sundays come around and I am in my movie room all day watching multiple games and soaking all the NGL glory in. I love it.

That being said, I am well aware that this team is much better with Michael Parsons than without. I wish he was signed and playing... well, when his back is well enough to play :lmao:. But, I did predict this was going to happen last year during the cee dee situation. I said then, if you think this is bad with CeeDee, just wait till Parsons time comes. Well, its here. Look at him last night lying on the trainers table, no jersey, pouting like a baby that isnt currently under contract and scheduled to make a hefty salary this year. So with the season about to start, what are your feelings heading into the season.

1) You are like me. I simply dont care. If he wants to play, play. If he wants to hold in, or out, or up or down... just do it from home. Because I want Winners! The season is starting, and I will enjoy it with or without the player.

2) how many of you just will not enjoy the games due to this contract situation. I will absolutely drive you nuts as you have to hear for the 20th time during the broadcast next week, how much the Cowboys defense is missing Michael?

Please give your thoughts. :muttley:

We needed this thread?

That being said, why are you calling him Michael?

Why does Jerry call him Michael?

What do the two of you have in common that causes you to call him out of his name?

only thing in common was that you sadly missed him saying "give me your thoughts" I thought if anything you'd find that more amusing!! Carry on!! (Sarcam lol jk)

Micah fades away, I was thinking they were using him wrong but maybe it’s his choice of foods like those nachos.

Does he usually eat stuff like that or is he eating it because he doesn’t want to be in Dallas.

Yeah ,I was just thinking about this, It's been nonsense from both sides the ego the posturing getting everyone involved in this and I don't want to be involved in it, I'm I'm grown far from tired of hearing every day there's something about his deal or somebody said this somebody said that feelings are hurt and yeah all that drama last night with him lying on the table....

I'm not blaming him for this up to this point I'm not taking a side, and you're right we are a much better team, and I would feel much better about this season especially against the Eagles game one if he's on the team playing...

But I hate to do this, i'm right in the middle of number one and number two, I'm excited the football seasons coming up, I know he's under contract and more than likely he's not going to hold out games, so I think with or without a new deal, he is going to come in and play..

It Just doesn't make sense to me that he would lose $1.4 million per game when he's not even willing to eat up $50,000 for the practices.. I know that adds up pretty fast but think about it wouldn't it be about $1,000,000 in fines for skipping practices? just completely going dark and leaving the whole situation not coming to the games, I mean that shows me that he's still posturing and he's trying to get his deal done,

so, he's doing everything possible he's getting bad advice from his agent to do all this, You know that next move was with the cryptic social media messages...

In the end he's a football player, and in the end he knows he doesn't want to lose a bunch of money and I don't think he wanted to let his teammates down and I think it's bothering him deep and I think that's what will inspire him to come in and start practicing when they're getting prepared for game one when the real practices start I think he comes back.

I mean my other feeling about him too is if he does come back, he suits up and starts practicing goes into game one and plays hard All of a sudden Jerry looks over says that's what I was hoping for the man's loyal and just gives him his new deal it gets done before Game 2...

What I'm really hoping for is they get it resolved before Thursday the 28th he gets his new deal and everyone's happy and the fans can just move on to football...

But you're correct, it's come to a point where I'd like to just put it on the back burner ,not think about it but it's kind of hard ,when you open up any of your social media pages or this place and it's just front and center.....

Can't get away from it,

but once game one starts even if he's not there then I revert to your number one, and I'm just going to be just as excited about the football season and I got to hope that Fowler, Houston, Kneeland, Sam Williams and Eazy E and the others they bring in to rush the passer, can do it in a group fashion as a committee ,and try to cover up that they're missing their best defensive player..

That's my hope, you just got to look at it as he's injured, just like we're missing Overshown, we're probably missing Revel, maybe Diggs maybe Butler, These guys are healing and they won't be here at game one to help us, and I got to look at this situation with Parsons is he's hurt ,and he'll be back ,and he'll be a cowboy for life, soon..

Just like Romo, Dak, Dez, some of y’all root for the player over team.
How is it that people think we have to make a choice how can it not be both You can support the player and the team like right now I'm blaming the egos of the agent and Jerry who don't play football these guys are not on the field so I can support Parsons I don't agree with what his agents making him do and how this has got this far but I'm not blaming him personally.

This is business, and I believe because of that he will be back and play game one even under his regular current contract it's $1.4 million per game the man has been unwilling to take the hit at fines he's been showing up at practices been coming to the games he's been around the team that shows me one he doesn't want to take $50,000 hits for missing practices and whatnot So why would he take $1.4 million PER GAME hits for missing the season's first 10 games?.

So, I hope he comes to see that he he doesn't want to be away from the team let his teammates down or lose money and he'll come play game one regardless.

I do want him on this team and I also think and believe that Jerry will get this resolved before game one Or like I said in another post a crazy thing happens where Parsons does come in and play under his current contract Jerry sees him practicing preparing and then playing game one and seeing that loyalty and then has a new deal done before Game 3...

Sometimes that's all it takes to break the ice.

But I try to leave the politics of the things that's happening with the owner and the GM and the front office versus players I'm not getting in the middle of all that I'll support the players but I'm also not going to take their side because I'm not getting involved in this business stuff contracts are not the concern of the fans...

Let's just hope it gets resolved because we are wanting the best players on the team so we want to support the best players that are going to help the team so we're always caught in the middle with this kind of nonsense and we just got to hope it gets resolved as soon as possible...

I'm not choosing team over player or player over team I think they work together all those players you mentioned plus Parsons our teams better having them on the team....

Been saying it for years
The grossest part of this is the fans that are campaigning we ruin the next decade with bad contracts will be the first to post "Thank goodness he got that contract" if they get hurt and are never the same.

As if that player getting paid to not play benefits them personally or financially somehow.

That's player over team mindset and not something I can get behind at all.

All the issues with Micah start and end with Jerry. And fans want to run him off so they can watch his HOF career somewhere else

Correct BUT it's not really Parsons, The only thing Parsons has is control over his agent this particular agent and Jerry don't get along but don't be just saying Jerry ,no this has every bit to do with the agent, and Jerry it's their 2 EGOS that are putting Parsons in the middle...

Jerrty deals with hundreds on Top Of hundreds of agents and lawyers since 1989 in the NFL and his other businesses,

this is not new, he can deal with agents, even if he doesn't like some of them, he deals with them, all these deals have always gotten done but this particular agent Jerry hates him ,he doesn't want to deal with him, But that ain't all Jerry's fault, this agent is also has ego issues and their egos are clashing right now...

So right now the only thing Parsons has control of is they either tell his agent to back off some and let's get to the table and make something happen or fire his agent and get a new agent..

i'm not saying don't have an agent ,why don't you go get an agent that one of your other teammates have used to get their big deals here and get them and I guarantee a deal is done in 48 hours...

We hang onto players way too long. Could have younger players with better draft capital if we had a competent GM.
