Perspective always matters.

This is a team coming off a 7-10 season that's headed to another 7-10 season under a new head coach. That doesn't change whether Micah plays or not. Rebuilding a roster - and this is only a semi-rebuild, not a full overhaul - takes some time and patience.

As such, Micah has no leverage here. Signing him or trading him to Siberia for a bevy of picks both make sense, but neither has immediate implications. There's no championship run ahead this season to be panicked over. It just doesn't matter right now.

There's also a power component to this on behalf of the owners. Salaries have gotten crazy high, and agents have gotten more and more big-headed and power-trippy. Jerry is rubbing Micah's agent's face in the poop and throwing him out in the backyard.

Jerry feels Micah welched. Micah feels Jerry is trying to squeeze him. Both are correct, but Jerry holds all the cards.

The best play here is to let this play out. Perhaps a team will flinch and offer a treasure chest of draft picks. That would be terrific. Or, things settle down and they get this deal done. That's fine, too. But time is NOT of the essence to the Cowboys on this. They made at legitimate offer, and they can wait a lot longer than Micah can.

For once, Jerry is actually playing this well.
You’re incorrect - the trading of Parsons for picks needs to happen before next draft. We simply cannot afford to let another year slip away needlessly. The players absolutely have to come from this next draft. Having said that, I do NOT trust the leadership of this franchise to ever guide us down any path besides the gutter.

I've come to despise the word "Quick Twitch"........seems like were taking a step back to what didn't work before.

And Micah is being greedy?? Lol

And this is JJ's true Superbowl for now and the future. As I said in another post, I think he's satisfied with the past 3 rings (and the Neflix bit to help commemorate mostly his side of the story to his liking), saving money, and continue to focus on increasing team value over winning - which he has no idea how to achieve on his own.

Micah isn't even on TJ watts radar...no way he is the best D player. Best D player right now on dallas but not the NFL.
Back in march he would have commanded the biggest price in a trade. Way ahead of any of the names mentioned

Success! As an owner, Jerry Jones is the best at what he does.

Cowboys!

Micah only welched in Jerry's head. He never put pen to paper on anything, they never had a deal.
Yes and no. They're was no legal commitment and Jerry clearly knows that.

There is also merit to the gentleman's agreement argument though, from a respect and character perspective.

Not saying it should be done that way or defending Jerry for doing it that way but if Parsons agreed with a handshake than that's on him.

The terms weren't even considered final according to Jerry's own words.

Parsons and his agent are just as nuts as Jerry in this circus.

This is also far from the first time contracts have played out this way with Jerry. There is only one reason why this is suddenly such a big deal when it never was before.

Who gives a crap? Do the same exercise for playoffs - that's all that matters to many of us.
I didnt mention playoffs because that doesnt determine if a team is the worst or one of the worst 5 in the league. I just posted facts that you dont like.

Safe Zone. Where he can post impulsively as his heart desires.

He likes that social media dopamine hit. It's like crack.
I've always advocated for him to be permanently exiled to a single thread where others can visit with him like a zoo animal.

I know, but Jerry, we are stuck with
Parsons is a guy. I'm just not interested in having on this team any longer, I'd rather have the draft picks for sure.
And honestly, I'm beginning to really believe that Jerry is going back to 1989 again. He is going to let this season go. Trade Parsons, hire a great head coach and give him the ability to grab the best quarterback. In the draft. Along with several other top draft picks to fill key positions like DT etc.
If Jerry had handled this better you could have had a kings ransom for Micah. Price is dropping because of this nonsense

Snip

And finally, it doesn’t matter if he’s worth 10 million more or 10 million less. The fact that a bunch of us are going to sit here and say “he doesn’t deserve it” is absolutely rooted in our personal feelings about wealth, culture, morals, business, labor and society than it does with holding an educated base of knowledge about football contracts and the CBA.
To say that because we don't know every detail of these contracts we therefore can't have any opinions on them is absurd. We can't compare Micah to a Garrett or Crosby because they aren't Cowboys? Why not?

So should Will Grier be paid like Dak Prescott? Oops, guess we can't have an opinion on that either because we haven't seen the exact details of the contract.

Besides, I've noticed you seem to have plenty of opinions on these things. How can that be?

And BTW, you are projecting big time in that last paragraph. Wealth, culture and society? What? Most of us don't care about any of that in this context. Most of us just want one of our best players to play, or be traded. But I and others have noticed you making many veiled accusations of the R word against people. Which I guess is what you're really getting at.

No, this was a nickname coined basically from Day 1 from a local sports writer when many were calling him an Arkansas hillbilly after Jethro Bodine from the famed TV show.
but again, why are you disrespecting him by not using his name? Isnt that what you asked me about a player?
