So watching this Parsons thing play out and with the season right around the corner, how many of you are reaching the point where you just dont care anymore what happens with the guy?

I am 55 years old and I absolutely love the NFL. I play in 4 fantasy leagues (one is a family league with relatives on both coasts and includes 3 of my 4 daughters, my wife, son-in-law, and 2 cousins on the east coast and a couple of friends.... including that 4th daughters ex boyfriend) I will attend the home opener, the GB game 2 eeks later, and the Broncos game a month later. Sundays come around and I am in my movie room all day watching multiple games and soaking all the NGL glory in. I love it.

That being said, I am well aware that this team is much better with Michael Parsons than without. I wish he was signed and playing... well, when his back is well enough to play :lmao:. But, I did predict this was going to happen last year during the cee dee situation. I said then, if you think this is bad with CeeDee, just wait till Parsons time comes. Well, its here. Look at him last night lying on the trainers table, no jersey, pouting like a baby that isnt currently under contract and scheduled to make a hefty salary this year. So with the season about to start,what are your feelings heading into the season.

1) You are like me. I simply dont care. If he wants to play, play. If he wants to hold in, or out, or up or down... just do it from home. Because I want Winners! The season is starting, and I will enjoy it with or without the player.

2) how many of you just will not enjoy the games due to this contract situation. I will absolutely drive you nuts as you have to hear for the 20th time during the broadcast next week, how much the Cowboys defense is missing Michael?

I am over him. Yes we need a player like him, but if Jerruh won't pay him, then its time to move on.
jerruh should have traded him for a bunch of picks and players.

How many years has this team been drafting LBs? How many have been like Micah?

Which means the Cowboys let the market for one the best players in the league devolve to the point they just get a comp pick. That's not a good outcome for the Cowboys.

It certainly wouldnt be for nothing. Right now his trade value is going to be as high as it can go. The closer you get to the draft the more valuable those picks are to bad teams, and while you probably have some very serious bidders closer to the trade deadline you lose the number of teams interested for a guy who is still potentially holding out.

The entire realm of fan evaluation of contracts and salaries is a false creation.

First, none of us understand exactly how contracts or the salary cap work. Deferred payments, dead money, bonuses, etc etc. There’s a reason extremely well compensated and skilled experts handle them. (Cowboys excluded, ours is a former Razorback equipment manager and an engineering intern. Not even kidding.)

Second, comparing players pay and stats is a fools errand, especially when we’re not experts. Cowboy fans are not Raider fans and neither set of fans are knowledgeable enough about their own teams, let alone another.

Third. We ridicule Jerry for playing GM, and I agree he’s awful at it, but there is no one at the zone even remotely qualified to make a judgement about any of this. I suppose everyone can have an opinion, but every one of us is ignorant

And finally, it doesn’t matter if he’s worth 10 million more or 10 million less. The fact that a bunch of us are going to sit here and say “he doesn’t deserve it” is absolutely rooted in our personal feelings about wealth, culture, morals, business, labor and society than it does with holding an educated base of knowledge about football contracts and the CBA.

However - they are on the verge of coming off two Super Bowls going through a massive embarrassment of about a decade plus of slophouse football - to rebuilding a formable playoff contender over the next few years with a young quarterback and running back tandem and the best defensive line in football.

Before the Cowboys get to a Super Bowl in that time span or even win a playoff game or get to a NFC title game.

The Giants will have been to the top and rebuilt two or three times and then getting to the top again before we get around the corner.’

This is a team coming off a 7-10 season that's headed to another 7-10 season under a new head coach. That doesn't change whether Micah plays or not. Rebuilding a roster - and this is only a semi-rebuild, not a full overhaul - takes some time and patience.

As such, Micah has no leverage here. Signing him or trading him to Siberia for a bevy of picks both make sense, but neither has immediate implications. There's no championship run ahead this season to be panicked over. It just doesn't matter right now.

There's also a power component to this on behalf of the owners. Salaries have gotten crazy high, and agents have gotten more and more big-headed and power-trippy. Jerry is rubbing Micah's agent's face in the poop and throwing him out in the backyard.

Jerry feels Micah welched. Micah feels Jerry is trying to squeeze him. Both are correct, but Jerry holds all the cards.

The best play here is to let this play out. Perhaps a team will flinch and offer a treasure chest of draft picks. That would be terrific. Or, things settle down and they get this deal done. That's fine, too. But time is NOT of the essence to the Cowboys on this. They made at legitimate offer, and they can wait a lot longer than Micah can.

For once, Jerry is actually playing this well.

Jerry has said he doesn’t believe in rebuilding and he’s damn sure not going to do it at the end of his run as GM.

Fully agree and might I add, co-GMs with conflicting agendas.
- JJ wants full control and all the attention/credit regardless if it's positive or negative
- Stephen wants to penny-pinch and find best way to get by with what we have (also think if JJ is gone, he might actually consider selling and wants the most return possible - just my thoughts)
- McClay tip toes around doing what he can to improve team but knows it's ultimately up to JJ what happens
- Schefty wants to win but knows he should just be thankful to have a head coaching gig regardless of the circumstances of it.
