Hunter Luepke - 8 Snaps

Having as part of the team is one thing. He belongs. Jack of all trades. But his salary at 3.75 per was stupid. 2 Mil max. It's Not gonna kill us, but just strange like so many things they do. .

Dallas had 8 games last season with 61 or fewer snaps last season. How was this a limited offensive game?

"They only use hunter as a fullback" calls into question the logic of signing him at all. There are only a handful of fullbacks in the entire league. Was there going to be a lot of competition for him on the open market?
It's limited on the game plan on the flow on where the ball can go if I have to say that over and over I'm just gonna call you a casual it's not a bad name but if you don't understand the game of football that you go to your primary reads you use your game plan and you call plays of how the flow of the game is going and some guys get left out that is just the part of football....

Hunter did not do anything last night and neither did Ferguson or Pickens to warrant anymore targets Lamb was open all night you feed the guy who's an elite wide receiver in this league you just don't expect him to drop a few passes but he had 110 yards that probably could have been 180 yards and a touchdown if he doesn't drop it they made the right choices the play calls the decisions on where to go with the ball they just fumble and dropped game away..

This just reinforces my believe that the timing of Bland's extension and Luepke's was deliberate and related to the Parsons trade.

This is the second year now we were led to believe Luepke would have a bigger roles in the offense only for him to be sidelined most of the time.
There is no conspiracy he didn't do that on purpose that's like going back and saying that Turpin, OSAs deal and Ferguson's deal ,

all got done first and they were already in talks with Bland before Parsons got traded,

it was all over the news that behind the scenes they were trying to work on a new deal. Oh with the conspiracy theories that they try to appease the fan base jerry doesn't do that They just thought about bringing this guy in and they decided to sign him they had the extra cash sometimes when you end up with extra resources in draft picks and cash and you make a move like this looking down the road...

I really have no idea on why Jerry felt he needed to be extended and given a big raise. The guy is a jag.
It's hard not to be a "jag" when you're not allowed to be otherwise. Perhaps you're blaming the wrong guy. Extending a guy and giving him a raise implies he will be a greater part of your game plan. When that doesn't happen, blame the guy executing the game plan.

You have to understand it it's not that big a chunk of money There doesn't mean to be an explanation or reasoning they felt they wanted to keep him around and they are but people worrying about his snaps and how much playing time he gets knowing all too well that there's only so many balls to go around and you go with the hot hand and that was Lamb..

Lamb was open all night he was the only one that was consistently open and outside of the drops he was our offense as usual that would be your primary read And I'm not gonna sit here and cry that her fullback didn't get in the game more just because he got a contract extension which wasn't even that big a deal..

Structured in a way that it can be an easy cut it's team friendly matter of fact they're doing some really good deals that are taken the next two years into account and after that They can let a lot of players go if they need to..
Never mentioned the money amount. That is irrelevant to me. The roster spot for a player that you don't use is more relevant to me.

Again, maybe as the season plays out we will see what Schotty plans to do with him as a "weapon" in the offense.

Felt like it was just more "news" to piggyback off the Bland re-signing to try and enforce the "savings being used" argument for not signing Parsons.

Can we stop the this player or that player didn't get enough snaps this was a limited offensive game if you didn't notice there wasn't a lot of balls to go around CD lamb was the only one getting open even though he had 4 drops if you look at the game the tight ends were clamped There wasn't a lot of other people getting open so the targets were going to the guy who was open..

We want to see Liafu the linebacker get more snaps yes for some fans were ready to see Blue as well and maybe Sanders doesn't get much snaps and maybe Hunter in the next game plan will get more snaps but in this game Williams was doing his job and Sanders got a 49 yard run therefore they only use hunter as a fullback.

Happens and there's 17 games there'll be plenty of game plans to get other guys involved.....
I agree. It was just one game.

I think fans forget sometimes that defenses dictate a lot of what the offense does.

For example, if you are running the ball successfully without a fullback during a game, why would you waste one of your valuable skill spots on the field on a player who won't benefit you as much in that situation?

Not to mention with Carter exiting the game from the start, it greatly reduced the need for Luepke to be a lead blocker. It's possible that had Carter remained in the game that Luepke would have played a lot more.

not really , dak would look at only lamb , then throw it to him.
When qb only looks at 1 guy then that is who is #1 read.

Disagree.. I watched the same game He was open every time literally open that is what your primary read is CD Lamb is the number one wide receiver and will always be the primary target if he's open they'll keep calling his name...

You can see it how you want I watched a lot of guys that just weren't getting open enough on a regular basis the man who gets open who is already your primary target the play calls will go his way until he's not open Prescott's first read is almost always your number one wide receiver why would you not go to a guy that in 2023 led the league in receptions and targets and had nearly 1800 yards and ten touchdowns That is what a healthy Prescott in a combo of Lamb can do and last night if he don't drop those four passes He probably has a hundred and eighty yards.

Literally 110 yards and you're criticizing the Cowboys for looking his way too often , and he was open on the drops. .

that's not how it works Michael Irvin got almost all the attention if Emmitt wasn't running the ball Troy would be looking to Michael Irvin almost every single time unless you have Jason Witten or Jay Novacek getting open more they were not open They put the clamps on our tight ends and George was not open enough...

Why would you force the ball elsewhere if your primary is open, he literally could have blown the game open without the drops the second half would have been a different story and we wouldn't be sitting here having this ridiculous conversation...

kind of funny he might be our 2nd fastest RB

He needs to get open He's not Jason Witten where he can catch those tight passes one hit him in the head the other one it came in on him and he was sandwiched between two players in the contact kept his arms from being able to go up it wasn't illegal contact but he just really couldn't spot and grab the ball with bodies up against him he was bracketed.. I think he was more surprised being double covered like that the ball got there it was laser shot pinpoint dime but sometimes it'll get on a player he's not even realizing the balls going to him because he's double covered..

Maybe I'm thinking of a different play but that's the one I'm remembering I know one hit someone in a helmet and the other one he was bracketed tight..
We are talking about the play that he got hit in head for an unnecessary roughness penalty. Dak threw a dime. The first pass Dak underthrew the ball but Collinsworth gave credit to the Eagles linebacker.

Why does the media need to find conspiracy in everything?

It's called playcalling. Once Dallas fell behind they started to throw more and use more spread formations. Not much use for a lead blocking fullback when you are running a two minute drill.

Cowboys love overpaying jags and then getting people believe we have top tier talent, look at Steele, Ferguson, Gallup, I'm sure there are more.

One game you're overreacting and again poor choice of words...

it wasn't deliberate. it was the same thing with Ferguson. they're just looking ahead and getting guys cheaper. but the way they're structured it's very team friendly and if they need to they can get out of the contracts,

but Hunter will have his other games he is the full back In this day and age fullbacks are not used that much and this is a cheap relative to his physician contract look at the way it's structured..

Only so many balls to go around and you don't force it just like George Pickens will get more opportunities in another game it will change from week to week the only thing that won't change is most of the balls will go to Lamb and they should go to Lamb because he was always open the drops aside he was open all night...

You guys gonna realize that you can't slice up the pie in games to get everybody involved it's just not possible you go with the game flow and what's working and what was working was Lamb was open all night and nobody else was there was very few opportunities the tight ends weren't open he tried to force the ball there a couple times he tried it deep to Pickens but for the most part he went to his primary read like they should have...Lamb
I didn’t even notice he was on the field. I’m not even sure why he’s on the team.

I didn’t see him block.
He didn’t get a carry.
Didn’t see him out on a route for a pass. He’s not a gunner so on special teams he’s just one of those guys that maybe blocks and then runs down the field looking for someone to run into..

Maybe next week we see him contribute but he’s got more guaranteed money than any RB on the roster so, while I don’t care about his dollars it seems like they should at least have some correlation to his value to the team beyond public relations.

In my rewatch I’ll pay closer attention
