Together 9/10

A girl and her loser late 30s wanna be rockstar boyfriend move to a new town and fall in a creepy cave. They get out the next morning and bad stuff starts to happen. Some gross body horror, but not as gross as The Substance.

Unique movie and worth a watch if you’re into horror

Just happened to be clicking through and 'Coming to America' was on and what was meant to be just a movie in the background turned into me watching the whole thing. Hadn't seen it in a long time and still holds up. Such a hilarious movie. IMO, Eddie Murphy's best comedy. Wish the sequel had been better.

Trading Places is up there, too. I was never a fan of Beverly Hills Cop or the stuff he did in the late 90s/early 2000s

He made one more movie that brought back those Coming to America Vibes. Nutty Professor 1 and 2. If you haven't seen them, check 'em out. Legendary scene with him and Dave Chapelle going at it. I saw in an interview that it was all improv. But yeah, I agree that a lot of his later movies stunk. His drama tries are better than his comedy tries these days. I really dug the Netflix movie he made, Dolemite Is My Name.

Some great stuff in Trading Places. The scene where they are carting Randolph out of the trading floor was classic, but there was such much more in that movie. Christmas movie or no?

Superman

6/10 - Cheesy. Seemed to make a mockery of Supes. Definitely made a mockery of Supergirl and Krypto. Hawkgirl is severely lame. What they did with the Els was nothing short of blasphemy. I didn't even like the Kents. John turned out better in his heart to heart, but not enough.

I assume this was supposed to be a different universe, which is why I didn't give it a 4/10.

The one thing I really liked was the casting choice and writing of Lois.

Tried to be funny, but wasn't.

I, too, watched Superman. I also thought it was super cheesy. Entertaining, sure, but definitely cheesy.

I did like the cast of Superman, Lois, and Lex Luthor, though. With that said, did anybody else get Kirk Lazarus vibes from Mr Terrific? I said something to the wife about it and then she said she couldn't unsee it the rest of the movie. Lol

He's just a dude, playing a dude, disguised as another dude.

Not a big budget. Story is predictable. Not original.
I think they could have done more with it.
But if you bored, it is a ok watch to pass the time.

Do not remember ever seeing this or even seeing it advertised.
It is not great but it is watchable. Have to wonder if after making it they thought that it would be better off being on a streaming site as an original.

This is one of those movies that you like, but wonder why you liked it. Just a bunch of kids walking. Typical travel buddy journey movie with the twist. But still you, or at least I, found yourself liking it and wanting to see how it ends.

I saw HIM today, I went because Jordan Peele was one of the producers. Truthfully it got too weird and unrealistic. It had a lot of symbolic shots, but it really didn't WOW me.

I finally got a chance to watch the latest Superman movie. I liked it a little, but it seemed like a kids movie more than something for me. I did not like how Superman was portrayed. I thought they made him too vulnerable. Perhaps if I had not watched all the other Superman movies, and the TV series, I would feel differently about this movie. I didn't understand where the dog and Superman's cousin came from considering the story of how Superman got here in the first place. I thought he didn't use his laser blaster eyes enough as he could have. At times if was just goofy. Sometimes goofy can be fun, but sometimes goofy is just goofy. I wasn't crazy about the actor playing Superman either.

I can see where others might like this movie. But I give it a 5 out of 10.

I feel that the “goofy” comes from an unchecked James Gunn.

Marvel reigned in those impulses when he went too far.

DC does not.

One thing I notice though vs Marvel is Gunn is really going at the kids. Social media, TikTok style stuff everywhere in that movie. Marvel doesn't even come close to how much he did it.

Only thing this had going for it was Jennifer Lawrence and Elisabeth Shue

Went back and watched this. Still a decent watch

Every once in a while Cage puts out a good underrated movie.
This is one of them.

The Gorge was great! Loved it. I can't stand Cage really. He has put out some real stinkers. Early on he had some good stuff like The Rock and Leaving Las Vegas but he isn't a good actor at all. The accent on Con Air is as bad a Keanu and Winona on Dracula. I did like Pig but it is few and far between with that guy. I still say the only reason he is an actor is because of his uncle.

He does so many movies that there has to be a good one here and there...just the odds lol

They guy must have major bank because he puts out multiple movies every year.

I like him better when his more extreme impulses are reigned in a bit.

For instance, I liked Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2 (Marvel) more than I did the second Suicide Squad and Superman (DC).
Yeah it's tough to explain since I still love the original with Christopher Reeve, but I know it has its goofy moments with Otis and such. Just seems like Gunn takes the goofiness to another level.

The Long Walk (along with The Stand) is my absolute favorite Stephen King book. It's a completely compelling, page-turner masterpiece. I haven't seen the movie yet because I worry that it can't possibly match how good the book is.

For those who aren't familiar with the book, maybe it will be too dismal, probably. I highly recommend reading the book, although once you've seen the movie first, I'm not sure how that will play.
