Romo and Prescott current career record

No QB can get the task done without the rest of the team.

That's the point, it's a team game, not a QB game.

The entire team matters. Wins/Losses/SBs are all team stats. Anyone who places it on one position should be ignored about anything they say regarding the sport.

If the rest of the team sucks, they're not going to win much of anything, even if the QB is the bestest ever.
Yep and Danny white and Roger and Troy all had better teams than both Romo and Dak

But folks will say anything to get their agenda accross

If I liked it I wouldn't have brought it up. It was a dumb move on Romo and Witten's part. Witten even admitted as much some time later, but Romo never owned up to anything.
So...I will ask you again....what did it hurt?

"image"?

If they weren't cowboys nobody would have even known about it. If they weren;t cowboys, nobody would even care.

You actually think...THAT is the reason we lost?

Man this is such a tough subject. Right?

How did Danny, Roger, and Troy HELP their teams be better?

How did Romo and dak?

How did they HURT their teams?

We might need AI for this. :)

The Romo haters screamed about the pick but were silent about a D that was unable to force a single punt.
Romo pushed too hard because he knew they needed a bigger lead to hope to win. and when you push too hard bad things happen
The Dak haters screamed but were silent about a D that was unable to hold anyone
Dak pushed too hard because he knew they needed to, for any hope to win. and when you push too hard bad things happen

sorry, stole some of your words, but it sounds familiar. its not a defense of Dak, but when you are not Elite and you push hard, you will make mistakes.

Um...that wasn't just Romo that got them in bad places. Murray Fumbles, dez can't catch. Crayton can;t catch a gimme TD for the win?

I suppose you think it was Romo that lost to Manning's Broncos.
I’m thinking the Bills game where he threw 5 interceptions and Dallas came back to win on a Nick Folk field goal. For example

If you followed the teams in the 70s and 90s you know darn good and well those teams were so much better than anything the 2 in this thread here ever had

I think this has been hashed and rehashed at nauseum. Jerry has failed both qbs

The sad part is the way the last 11 years have unfolded has divided the fanbase and dumbed us down

Both these QBs would have won with the 70s and 90s rosters but this fanbase seems to wants it to be either or instead of embracing that both of them has been successful despite the jones clan

I like Dak a bit more but they both have frustrated me through the years.

Bottom line the Dallas cowboys have been blessed to have both of them and cursed that skelator is running the show

Once again... I NEVER SAID the playoff problems for Dak were solely because of flags.

You mentioned how these other quarterbacks dealt with penalties in playoff runs, but that wasn't my question.

1. What quarterback in NFL history led their team to a playoff victory vs a NUMBER ONE defense, after said quarterback's team committed 15 penalties. I want a name or names since you claim other quarterbacks have done it. I would gladly shut my mouth on that question alone and admit I was wrong. I'll patiently wait for those quarterbacks names.

With that said, according to your measurements of what a successful quarterback is supposed to be based on playoff success and Superbowl appearances and victories..... if you consider Aaron Rodgers elite, then you have to say Foles and Dilfer are elite as well because they all have the same amount of Superbowl success. One ring apiece.

Kaepernick as of right now has proven that he was a better quarterback than Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. Kaepernick led his team to a Superbowl. Jackson and Josh Allen hasn't yet. So according to how you judge quarterbacks, Kaepernick, Dilfer and Foles were elite quarterbacks if we call Josh Allen, A. Rodgers and Lamar Jackson elite.

I have no problem with how you judge a quarterback. But keep that same energy for every quarterback whose judged by important wins. You can't move the goal post around for other quarterbacks.

Same bs excuses people gave Matthew Stafford for years. Its a team game when Matt Stafford is 17-74 vs winning teams..... but then other quarterbacks are judge by wins and losses as if they're playing golf by themselves.

Same excuses go for other quarterbacks who currently have max contracts and I believe one or two current max contract quarterbacks haven't even won a playoff game yet. But again, I have no problem with our quarterbacks being responsible for team playoff records. Just make sure you keep that same energy for ALL quarterbacks who haven't reached or won Superbowls.
Wow, that was a lot to unpack, so let’s break it down:

1 You want a quarterback who beat a #1 defense in the playoffs with 15 penalties? Sure — good luck proving that’s even remotely a common occurrence. The point isn’t finding an exact replica, it’s that elite quarterbacks still find ways to win under pressure. Statistically, Dak hasn’t. That’s the simple takeaway.

2 Comparing Aaron Rodgers to Dilfer or Foles is cute, but let’s not pretend one Super Bowl makes all QBs ‘elite.’ Context matters: talent, consistency, individual performance, leadership — all of that separates truly elite QBs from those who caught lightning in a bottle once. One ring isn’t the same as sustained excellence.

3 Matthew Stafford, Allen, Jackson, Kaepernick — yes, team factors matter, but the best quarterbacks elevate their teams in January. Dak’s pattern is obvious: great regular season, then faltering in the playoffs. That’s not moving goalposts, that’s reality.

4 Finally, everyone agrees it’s a team game. But the quarterback is the single most influential player. Excuses only go so far — if we applied your logic to everyone, we’d call every QB elite with one lucky playoff win. That’s not analysis, that’s cherry-picking.

So no, we’re not moving goalposts. We’re pointing out what happens when the moment is biggest — and Dak’s track record there speaks for itself.

The Romo years seem like it was jut yesterday but it’s legit been a decade since he was our starter. Time flies

Dak Haters have comprehending problems....the point of @GINeric question was rhetorical. It wasn't a question to illicit information because there is no QB that has won in the playoffs in that context........Are you now saying that there are QBs that have won in the playoffs under similar pressures (15 team penalties)?

Dak Hater are know your stripes this fluff style of answering questions is weird :lmao:

Comparing Aaron Rodgers to Dilfer or Foles in this context is NOT cute but represents the spirit of why building a great Team is more important than asking an "Elite" QB to carry a team?

Dak Hater name ONE Elite QB that Carried Team in NFL history?

Only a Non-Football playing, video game playing gambling jock would answer that 90s and 20s Media Trope nonsense

BEST QBS ELEVATE .....Aaron Donald, Chris Jones and Jalen Carter

The media had fed the Dak Haters QB fantasies for 30 years......:lmao:

It doesn't matter if you have the next John Elway on an NIL contract and desire since berth to be a QB....

The today's locker room is too diverse for your 90s and 20s QB....This is a TEAM game.

So no, we’re not moving goalposts. We’re pointing out what happens when the moment is biggest — and Dak’s track record there speaks for itself.
Yes, Dak Haters always move the goalpost.....

When it the Regular Season you talk playoffs...

When it's the playoffs you dream about a QB that carried a TEAM sport

Dak Haters are pathetic ...:laugh::lmao:

Where is Mr. Belvedere....my posts need 1st Amendment right QC:laugh::facepalm:

Wow, those two had almost identical records, yet one was loved, while the other was most critically lambasted for his surmised ineptitude! Is there no justice at all within these modern times? o_O

dude, even the elite make mistakes when they push too hard

amazing how much hate Dak bots feel for anyone that does not kiss his feet

An ill-timed trip to Cabo didn't help matters
Do you know Brady once went to a resort on a bye week before playoffs?

Only true morons think that had anything to do with the loss

1. Dak got blamed for the first 49ers playoff game. The same game we had 15 penalties in. You're absolutely right, thats not a common occurrence but it happened to the Dallas Cowboys that first 49ers playoff vs a number one defense.

So if elite quarterbacks couldn't and have NEVER overcome in a playoff win with 15 penalties vs a number one defense, how does anyone expect a NON elite quarterback like Dak to do so. You actually proved my point, so thats why it was SUPER dumb for anyone blaming Dak solely for the Cowboys losing that first 49ers playoff game for situations an elite quarterback couldn't AND have NEVER overcome.

I have no argument for most of your post but you keep trying to say im making Dak out to be elite. Do you have reading comprehension problems? Ive said that Dak isn't and has never been elite.... yet you keep saying I said that or im making Dak out to be elite.

Im not trying to be disrespectful.... but when I said Dak isn't elite twenty times... how in God's name do you interpret that as me saying he's elite?

With all of that said. Its a team game, period. If we're going to say our quarterbacks (Dak, Romo) are judged off of wins and losses or big wins or big losses.... then EVERY quarterback will be judged the same way.

You say the best quarterbacks elevate their team in January. I have no problem with that. But history has also shown that the best quarterbacks can go home early in January and then some quarterbacks who are NOT the best have made it to and won a Superbowl. We can name some of the best quarterbacks who haven't even made it to a Superbowl yet. We also can name quarterbacks who weren't ever considered the best who have not only made it to a Superbowl, but they have won it.

Having an elite quarterback greatly increases your chances of success in January, but it has never GUARANTEED success in January. Like you said, we both agree that this is a team game.

Last thing real quick. Dak is not an elite quarterback, I've never considered Dak as an elite quarterback, Dak is a very good quarterback, Dak is NOT elite, Dak is not elite, Dak is not elite.

Is that clear enough? So I respectfully ask that you stop lying on me and saying I said Dak is elite or I consider Dak elite. Lying isn't a good look on ya bro. You make great points, but leave the lies out. You don't have to do that.

Let’s clear something up right off the bat — nobody said you called Dak elite. What I pointed out is that your entire defense of him keeps circling back to why he shouldn’t be expected to rise above adversity, which is exactly what separates great from good QBs.

You’re right, 15 penalties is brutal. No one denies that. But blaming that game solely on flags and a top defense ignores what people saw: missed throws, bad clock management, and another January collapse. Great quarterbacks aren’t expected to be perfect — but they are expected to elevate their team when things go sideways. Dak didn’t.

As for the “elite QBs don’t always win” argument — nobody said elite guarantees rings. But year after year, Dak’s playoff story looks the same: great numbers early, then the offense stalls against top teams. That’s not lying, that’s track record.

And just to be crystal clear: nobody’s lying on you, bro. If anything, we’ve both said multiple times that Dak isn’t elite. The difference is, I’m not treating that fact like a free pass for repeated playoff shortcomings. You call him ‘very good.’ Fair enough. But very good QBs get judged on January too
Nobody said you called Dak elite — the point is you keep lowering the bar to excuse his January failures. Penalties didn’t miss throws, stall drives, or mismanage the clock — Dak did. Great QBs rise when things get tough. His pattern says otherwise, and that’s all anyone’s pointing out.

They are remarkably similar players, although Romo might be a little less durable than Dak - which still remains to be seen. I think Dak throw a little bit better deep ball,, Romo had a greater penchant for blowing up in some games. Both prefer to eat the ball rather than throw it out of bounds. Dak has turned into Romo as a scrambler.

Of course there are differences too, but both are good, not great QBs. I think both were overpaid.
