Parsons beats guys with just incredible lateral agility.
So you love Micah (I like him too), however sometimes you have to look at the production (rather than stats that don't really influence the outcome)......you need to park the cost (most/alot of us, ON THIS POINT, agree with Jerry that his contract is way overpriced, for what he provides).Parson's guaranteed money is only $34.5 per year. Even less will count against the cap. We won't see any significant cap savings from trading Micah until or unless we cut Clark. Clark and Micah make about the same for 2026 and 2027.
Passing on Parsons could be the right move. I think it could go either way. Hopefully we get better than Guyton/Mazi with those picks. But Parsons isn't making what the average CZ poster thinks he is.
Lastly, it's kind of silly to use a 4 game sample and one metric to make statements about him, especially when we have 4+ years of data. He'll be on that list by the end of the season. Just like he was last year. And the year before that. And the year before that. And the year before that. Never mind that he missed camp and was traded to a new team days before the season started.
Not a single play in that clip where they are even lined up against each other. Is that a credit to Thomas? Not a single highlite for Parsons against Thomas 71.
I am completely open to the idea that he is overpaid. I haven't seen a lot of data on the impact of big non-QB contracts. I think he is probably worth what GB is paying him but I don't hold that opinion tightly. Plus we got the picks. (I do think Clark should be cut after this year; he's not worth $20M.)So you love Micah (I like him too), however sometimes you have to look at the production (rather than stats that don't really influence the outcome)......you need to park the cost (most/alot of us, ON THIS POINT, agree with Jerry that his contract is way overpriced, for what he provides).
Micah certainly can beat his man, he can occupy double team or 'chipped' consideration, but Baldy's footage shows that none of that had a direct effect upon Dak.
I believe you. Semantics, though, IMO. Sacks are streaky and a bit random over small sample sizes. They are relatively rare, context dependent events. Over the season the randomness smooths out, but pressures and win rate are the more reliable indicators of performance. Sacks are kind of like ERA in baseball. In both cases, fans are a bit behind in moving to the contemporary metrics. If this site had local hosting I'd post the pics, but that "sack" wasn't even a sack. Dak actually gained a little on that play. It's crystal clear that the NBC blue LOS line is ahead of where it was before the "sack".
So you're arguing with the comments relating to "no impact" and not having "a direct effect", well give him flowers for being a nearly man, but Dak still managed 40pts and a RTG of 125. But I genuinely don't understand how anyone who watched the game can say he had no impact. He literally dictated a big portion of the game plan. He produced 10 of his team's 15 QB pressures--and 7 of them were under 2.5 seconds. There are highlights in this thread showing him force early throws, some incomplete. He made a huge sack in OT. His 33% pass rush win rate would have been #1 last year - by a lot. I don't mean anything personal in saying this but I find it absolutely fascinating that so many of us are saying he made no impact. The human mind is fascinating.
You're arguing that an individual player can't have made a sizable impact if the unit as a whole performed poorly? I don't subscribe to that. Micah played well, made a significant impact AND his team gave up 40. I have no problem holding both of statements as true.So you're arguing with the comments relating to "no impact" and not having "a direct effect", well give him flowers for being a nearly man, but Dak still managed 40pts and a RTG of 125. But "Abusing the OL" and Pressures or Win Rate dont really matter when the QB still performs to a 125 Rating and 49 Pts. He won his battles but Dak won the war. You're arguing that an individual player can't have made a sizable impact if the unit as a whole performed poorly? I don't subscribe to that. You don't see the irony here? Both guys played well and walked away with a tie.But "Abusing the OL" and Pressures or Win Rate dont really matter when the QB still performs to a 125 Rating and 49 Pts. He won his battles but Dak won the war.
But which of them had the "Impact" on the scoreboard? 3 TD vrs a Sack and umpteen Nearly Stats sums it up.You don't see the irony here? Both guys played well and walked away with a tie.
If your point is that Dak was the more impactful player on Sunday, I would agree. QB is the most impactful position on the field. Hell, you might even be able to convince me that Dak played QB better than Micah played DE. But that doesn't take away from Micah's performance. But which of them had the "Impact" on the scoreboard? 3 TD vrs a Sack and umpteen Nearly Stats sums it up.
My biggest gripe about Micah (and as I mentioned I like him, think he provided a 'follow me' leadership) is that the eye says it's all about him, he sacrifices the whole Defense in pursuit of HIS stats...... which so often left our run D exposed (especially with Diggs as the RCB). He goes 100% in games that dont matter or in garbage time, to pad stats, rather than sitting, resting......which inevitably results in him running out of steam at the end of the season.
It wasn’t the $47m that pissed people off, it was the Nachos the nap taking and the I am getting a second opinion on the back. Everyone hates Jerry and yet the people seem to back Jerry in this whole soap opera.Eh, it's jilted ex sydrome. "When I cheered for you, I was faking it." Lol. A lot of it has to do with money too. This was done to Ware. Everyone was calling for him to be cut saying it was business, not personal. But as soon as he got snatched up and signed a nice contract with Denver people made it personal and trashed him even after saying they wanted him gone a few days prior. Hard to use the salary cap excuse in that case. There are people that just want to see players denied making that kind of cash so Micah became uber-hated once he broke the non-QB record. So they'll use the $47M number as justification and conveniently ignore that front office competence would have had him signed at $35M.
Micah fans hate context. Just sacks and win rate. Anything else they just make things up. Pretending that fans like Jerry now is just one of their new liesIt wasn’t the $47m that pissed people off, it was the Nachos the nap taking and the I am getting a second opinion on the back. This is a terrible argument. So you're arguing with the comments relating to "no impact" and not having "a direct effect", well give him flowers for being a nearly man, but Dak still managed 40pts and a RTG of 125. Semantics?
The injury was legit. Anyone who says different is believing that Green Bay is intentionally not trying their best to win games because they have been treating him ever since he joined the team and have limited his snaps due to the injury. is anyone surprised that the Cowboys medical team gave him a green light despite them treating him for the back? A detail that didn’t come out until after the Packers said the Boys informed them of the injury and the treatment plan he was on.It wasn’t the $47m that pissed people off, it was the Nachos the nap taking and the I am getting a second opinion on the back. Everyone hates Jerry and yet the people seem to back Jerry in this whole soap opera.
They have to ignore Jerry's big part in this whole soap opera he started with his GM malpractice to back him which is why it's one-sided hate. Their choice. Imbalanced judgment though. It wasn’t the $47m that pissed people off, it was the Nachos the nap taking and the I am getting a second opinion on the back. Everyone hates Jerry and yet the people seem to back Jerry in this whole soap opera.
And Micah is 26 years old. It’s odd that so many--some presumably much older—Cowboys fans are invested in his personality. I often find myself randomly cringing at memories from my 20s. Thank goodness I didn’t have the platform that Micah does to broadcast my moments of immaturity. That day, stacked up against Jerry and Co. crapping on Micah for weeks and weeks, day after day, seems like it was Jerry 50, Micah 7 in the race to be childish.
