Micah abused our OL

Dallas' defense not even lasting 42 seconds after Dallas took a 37-34 4th quarter lead saved the game for Green Bay.

And Parsons' "sack" would have meant nothing if Dallas' defense held on a 4th and 7 in overtime on the drive after.
But it did mean something. Given Love's panicking in the red zone, they had the FG tie as a fallback. Rodgers would have hit #13 who beat Diggs in the end zone and they would have won the game. Parsons' sack gave them the option to settle for the tie. Better than a loss and might have implications for tiebreakers later.

I agree with you. But if Dak scored a TD there the Packers would have been more aggressive. They had the tie in their back pocket and kind of played it slow at the end of OT. I doubt Dallas' defense would have prevented a TD if Green Bay displayed more urgency.

I agree with you. They had the TD without the urgency if Love sees #13.

I mean Kenny Clark is cheaper, but its really not as different as you think. Over the next three years Clark costs $45M against the cap, Parsons will cost $55ish over that same period. After that Parsons gets pricey, but unless they restructure his deal they should have a fairly easy out before the end of his deal too.

Parsons cap hit is
  • 2025 - $9M
  • 2026 - $19M
  • 2027 - $26M
Clarks cap hit is:

  • 2025 - $2M
  • 2026 - $21M
  • 2027 - $20M

The big difference between the two is that Clarks guaranteed money has all been accounted for already so he becomes cuttable right after this season. The setup of Parsons deal is pretty team friendly for a contract of that size though.
Parsons has huge guaranteed amounts..... no way way around it. Its not a good deal for the team.

That one sack basically saved the game for them so there's that.

He is the highest paid non-QB at $47 milli, and he not even top 5 in sacks. Really good player, but I don't blame Jerry (this time) for not wanting to pay him more than what Patrick Mahomes makes ($45 milli).

Parson's guaranteed money is only $34.5 per year. Even less will count against the cap. We won't see any significant cap savings from trading Micah until or unless we cut Clark. Clark and Micah make about the same for 2026 and 2027.

Passing on Parsons could be the right move. I think it could go either way. Hopefully we get better than Guyton/Mazi with those picks. But Parsons isn't making what the average CZ poster thinks he is.

Lastly, it's kind of silly to use a 4 game sample and one metric to make statements about him, especially when we have 4+ years of data. He'll be on that list by the end of the season. Just like he was last year. And the year before that. And the year before that. And the year before that. Never mind that he missed camp and was traded to a new team days before the season started.

If he doesn't finish top 5 in sacks this year prepare yourself for excuses. He missed camp he had a bad back etc etc. We know the type of people that make excuses. We know. A generational talent needs excuses. Incredible

So your response to him saving GB from a loss is "he makes a lot though and doesn't lead the NFL in sacks after 4 games?" He's literally 2 sacks from the leader. Like sacks are the end-all, be-all anyway but I get the diversion. We game-planned for him the whole game and he still broke through and contributed in the clutch. Slanderers here said he didn't do things like that late in games. That was in overtime. Ah well.

If our front office weren't morons we'd have had him at $35M a year after his 3rd year and he'd have been even more attractive to trade if we wanted .... at the right time and all. So I get people trying to justify the delayed dumb move by touting the $47M number as too much while needing to ignore front office malpractice to cope, but the real number is $35M which would have been way better than the other top defensive dogs.

The goalposts will be moved to wherever they need to be for Micah to be overrated.

The Packers gave up 40 so he's overrated. It doesn't matter that they've only given up 20+ points once on the season, or that Micah accounted for 66% of his teams pressures, or that the Cowboys completely abandoned the 5+ step drop part of their playbook.

He's not top 5 in sacks right now so he's overrated. That only matters for him though, not Garrett, Watt, etc.

He doesn't play every snap so he's overrated. Never mind that his snaps per game are in line with his peers and higher than the reigning DPOY.

He only got pressure on 33% of his pass rush attempts. Never mind that 33% would have led the league last season.

Eh, it's jilted ex sydrome. "When I cheered for you, I was faking it." Lol. A lot of it has to do with money too. This was done to Ware. Everyone was calling for him to be cut saying it was business, not personal. But as soon as he got snatched up and signed a nice contract with Denver people made it personal and trashed him even after saying they wanted him gone a few days prior. Hard to use the salary cap excuse in that case. There are people that just want to see players denied making that kind of cash so Micah became uber-hated once he broke the non-QB record. So they'll use the $47M number as justification and conveniently ignore that front office competence would have had him signed at $35M.

Did people hate Lamb getting paid?

Sure, there were some. Saying he melted down in the GB playoff game, got punked by that DB there or saying that no WR deserves that amount of money, etc. The latter is standard for a lot of new contracts signed. Thing is, Lamb wasn't even highest paid at his position the way everyone knew Parsons was going to be.

Haha - yep, 4 games this year was a stretch...but he was on the field during both playoff losses to the 49ers and of course last year's beatdown by the Packers.

In the playoffs, he was like 1 career sack vs 76 year old Tom Brady.

He is a good regular season player though.

He's come up woefully short vs physical teams and that surprises me since he's a "Penn State" LB. I'm thinking of games vs the Bills, 49ers, Eagles. He was a major reason the Cowboys couldn't stop the run because he was chasing sack and was allergic to setting the edge (but everybody piled on Mazi).

1 career playoff sack isn't worth his contract. The only misstep on Jerry's part is he should have traded him before the draft.

I'll give you the Packers game, Micah didn't play well at all, but the other three playoff games the Cowboys defense gave up..... *checks notes*......56 points in three games. I'll take a defense that gives up 18ppg any game regardless of the sack numbers.

He graded out as the best run defender across the entire defensive line. I don't think he was the problem.

Where is Mazi these days?

Also, what do you attribute his playoff struggles to? I don't think the wear and tear argument holds up, as he has 4 sacks in his 4 January games. Isn't it likely that we're dealing with a small sample size and sacks aren't a perfect measure of play?

He didn't "beat all our blockers, nor are we dumb for calling out the truth - Micah was contained, and almost completely neutralized. If he wasn't then the Cowboys wouldn't have scored 40.

That 40 burger is the biggest clue about all of this. It ain't happening if Micah really had a great game. He didn't, thus the 40 burger by the Cowboys, and only one sack for 0 yards lost for Micah.

Micah was virtually a non-factor and this PFF advanced metric is for midwits that need to avoid seeing the forest for the trees.
Ahh, you just make up your own facts.

Got it.

You could start by rewatching the games without your boss so firmly locked in.

Does your peer group know about your flat earth theories?

So you telling me he's worth more than Patrick Mahomes? No, he's not.

Do I think he's a great player? Yes. Do I think he's worth the contract the Packers gave him? Nope.

You can ignore the non-guaranteed part of the contract. The contract was structured the way it was for the sake of the bonus. Both parties know Parsons will likely be cut or restructure prior to his $74M cap hit in year 5.

His actual cap is $34M per year, much less than Mahomes.

Edit: Maybe he is overpaid. But he's not actually making the $47M/yr that keeps getting tossed around.
