He is on pace for over 1500 yards and 17 TDs. Considering the state of the defense, you can expect the offense to do a lot of passing all season long. Even when CD returns, Pickens is going to get his share.I just dont understand where people think he is going to be set to make more than Lamb. I could be wrong of course, but Lamb got paid coming off a 1700 yard season. Pickens to this point in his career has a career high of 1,190 and only topped 1000 yards once. Hes been fantastic for the Cowboys so far, but odds are his targets start to come down as Lamb comes back. Even Metcalf who is probably a solid comp for Pickens couldnt break into the top 3 and he also got about $40M less in guaranteed money than Lamb.
To me Metcalf is probably the top for a Pickens deal....I think Higgins money is more likely. I mean any team could have had him for cheap this offseason by beating the Cowboys offer and all 30 teams passed. Just a few months later we think someone is going to turn around and give him top 3 WR money? I just dont see it.
What elevates Pickens salary is that every team will be competing to sign him if they choose to do so.
Pickens is not going to sign a WR2 contract, why should he?
Players like Pickens don't come along very often in free agency most teams lock down a player like him.
However, you know Jerry. he's going to wait, try to lowball his agent and, before Jerry gets a 2nd chance, Pickens will be gone, free agency day #1.....unless there is drama before the end of the season.
