If you were to offer George Pickens a contract how much would it be?

Franchise tag
I've said this about 14 times over the last two weeks yes you franchise tag him but you don't force him to stay here you don't want to mess it would be you remember what happened with Parsons just in the holdout slash hold in all that mess we don't want that here we don't want George Pickens upset playing for the Cowboys we don't need him forced you franchise tag him just to get more compensation when he leaves that is it you do not make this man play disgruntled we do not want that we do not need that and it will not happen...

Yes you tag him on whatever tender you think you can get for him that way you can control the compensation and you can get more compensation but he still walks you're just going to get a higher draft pick which is good for the Cowboys he gets to go somewhere and be happy we do not want an unhappy George Pickens working for us that's it case closed II don't think you guys realize what a mess that would be he's already known for being a mental case him and his agent own to make things become a circus we don't want any of that we just went through that last half season i'm not doing that again..

Not that long ago my man Amari Cooper and Cd Lamb were a good pair but there was one year where they had Cooper a rookie Lamb and a prime gallop all over 1000 yards or close to it my bad rookie Lamb had just under 1000 yards so this isn't new this is just we've needed a number two for a while since Cooper left and now we have one but it's too bad he's played himself into a number one and he's not going to fit here monetarily unless he's willing to take number two money..

You look at this years depth on wide receiver when you look at also Turpin and Flournoy it it looks like that..

lamb, cooper, gallup , Cedrick wilson and older zeke ie Wiliams

not new

Any of those seasons were 12 win seasons they had some division titles they went to the playoffs and then what happened things just blew up in the playoffs everything blew up no it wasn't Prescott it wasn't lacking receivers the trenches we got our butts kicked on the offense and defensive lines we got ran on and couldn't run the ball and here we are again thinking that is going to be the savior for this team...
didnt we have the "Best oline," in football at that time?

I'm not the best but yeah top 5 and ours is headed that way again did that get us anywhere did having a rookie of the Year quarterback one of the best running backs in football for three straight years with a great offensive line and some talent to go with it But they did not show up in the playoffs That very offensive line got manhandled in the trenches too many penalties same with the defense look we've had skilled players in good lineman very consistently for a very long time the thing that wasn't consistent when it came time to play the best whether it was in the playoffs or A regular season game they got manhandled I don't know if it was play calling I don't know if it was coaching I don't know if it was culture but we've seen this story before..

Maybe the narrative will change someday but right now we've seen this story before we've had some of the most dynamic offenses in football decent defenses but when it came time to play against the big boys we got our pants pulled down and spanked..

Understandable. Team building/cap management aside, would love to be special at one position group at least for a few years. I think Jerry would try to make it happen to justify the dak deal.
If Dak keeps playing the way he currently is...there is nothing needed to Justify his contract.

Pickens would take that deal in a heartbeat. Dk is the #4 paid wr in the league and only got 60m in guaranteed money. If you put $80m in front of Pickens he’d be a fool not to sign.
DJ Moore has over $80 million guaranteed. Garrett Wilson has $90 million guaranteed. Offer him $100 million guaranteed, right now, Mulugheta will advise his client to sign.

Otherwise, might as well wait. The tag for him will be a good amount, all guaranteed, and then he’s an even more expensive free agent in 2027. Jerry’s offer will have to be enough to compel him to sign.

an you be special at one thing on one side and dog turd at the other 99 things? Cause that’s us.
The perfect scenario would be keep the offense together and use those 2 first, and most of the rest of the draft to build the defense. There’s guarantees you can hit enough in the draft to build a great D but they should be able to add 4 players in top 3 rnds. Surely you can hit on an ouch of them to get to average. Going into yesterday we were dead last. Average with this offende makes you a pretty goid team

If you’re trying to maximize Daks next 2-3 years you keep him and sign some defenders in free agency as well and push money out to void years. You may have to pay the piper in 4-5 years, but Dak will be gone and we’ll be in a rebuild anyway

I think those guys are tough comps for a straight free agent though.

Both those guys are inflated AAVs due to signing extensions in the middle of other deals. Wilson is still on year 4 of his rookie contract plus the 5th year option. That extension really doesnt start until 2027. He technically has a 6 year deal for $150m ($25m aav)

Moore voided the last two years of his previous extension and added those to his current contract so he basically has a 6 year deal for $142M ($23.5M AAV), although statistically hes a good comp coming off a 96 catch 1300 yard season when he signed.

Even DK who I brought up is technically on a 5/$150m deal with 1 year voided from his old deal.
Lamb was on a 5th year option which brings his AAV down on a $5/154m deal

This is a huge reason why I just dont see Pickens commanding a super high salary up there with the extensions of Lamb/Jefferson/Chase. He is going to be a true free agent unless we franchise tag him which probably allows him to command more money on an annual basis, but we would also get to split that cost over an extra tag year. This is why I just dont see it as a major obstacle. Lamb you can restructure next season and he is young enough that you can likely give him one more extension to keep his cap hit down another 2-4 seasons. Pickens on a new deal probably wont get expensive for another two years as well. That really sort of aligns with the end of Daks contract, although I'm getting off topic now.

For a number two that's around 29 million no more than 30 and I'm betting he'll reject that he wants number one money he wants to be the guy that's making all the big plays all the targets and he will leave here and that would not be Jerry's fault and I'm sorry you guys are really reaching on this it is not up to Jerry and Steven this is all on George and David and they are going to go and use the Cowboys to get the biggest bag they can next year somewhere else..
I don’t know he might not be greedy, we’ll find out soon enough , and if he does go, we have plenty of draft to get a receiver. Floryerny whatever his name is has been a great surprise.

Agreed. Would love to see them get to even “below average but respectable”. They would at least be enough to allow them to be competitive week after week and maybe remain relevant in the division.

They would be awesome

Trade Lamb???? cmon.... did you see the offense YESTERDAY. No way is the offense the same with Lamb out. Pickens and Lamb together are special. How long has it been since we had 2 WRs like this?
If they can, keep both but they really need to find some star power for the defense.

The tag will be over $26 million next season and it all hits the cap in 2026. No idea what a second tag would cost, but it will be a lot. Pickens is in a good situation. So is his agent.i

I wish there were a way to keep Pickens - but I just can’t see it. Wring out every penny this season and wish him the best - unless he goes to Philly or SF.

Buffalo would KILL to have this guy.

Fair point on the tag. Should still be a bargaining chip for Jerry but it is higher than I was thinking.

I imagine Pickens would prefer a lucrative 4 or 5 year extension with a significant guarantee. But, in his case, the tag isn’t a bad alternative. He’s in a good negotiation position and has a highly regarded agent representing his interests.

That's not greed I never said it was greed I never even really said he was using us in a negative way this is about his career this is about his wants and needs if he wants to be a number one which he has a right to be the guy you know that gets all the targets that they feed more also gets paid more to do so he gets the recognition people buy his jerseys just because he's the guy at WR1..

I'm saying I can tell that's where his head is at you listen to him in the interviews it's all right there maybe he'll change his mind but when a man says he's happy to be a Cowboy because the Cowboys are so recognized primetime games they're all over every single newscast that he's using the Cowboys to showcase his skill set in order to up his value he has said those same words five times already interviews this year that tells me he's looking for the biggest contract of his career meaning it might be his last big opportunity for a big deal..

You can't do that being in Lamb's shadow because we can only afford to pay him 30 at the most i'm really looking at this for the Cowboys to offer him 29 that makes him the highest paid back up WR2 in the league it puts him ahead of T Higgins and what not That's a very fair offer but if he wants more than that he has to go and I believe he will because I bet he can get 35 somewhere else that's an awful lot of money But you also have to believe this player wants the recognition you can't get that being in Lamb's shadow..

Sure he might change his mind but you all need to like come to grips with the fact that he's not gonna be here next year and I don't want to hear it's about Steven and Jerry being cheap this is a player who might want more that he can't get here not just money He wants the recognition as A WR 1 and to be that guy on a team he wants to be appreciated and that comes with more money but it also comes with that tag that you're the guy...
