Are fans ready to accept the Micah trade devasted our defense?

Not enough broken families in the Dallas metro area. They need Micah back to boost the stats.

The Cowboys would have had two first round and two second round picks in the next two drafts without trading Micah Parsons. In trade they acquired a DT closer to the end of his career than the beginning of it and will be expensive to retain next season and two first round draft picks, one of which isn’t until 2027, from a team that was already very good and the Cowboys made even better.

I hope Jerry doesn’t dislocate his shoulder patting himself on the back over the Parsons transaction. Those two “late in the round firsts” in the hands of a professional general manager would have some significance. As it is, they don’t mean much.
Please explain where the second first round picks would have come from without trading Micah. Because they came in the Parson's trade with Green Bay.

Green Bay did not trade us our own picks

People need to stop including Dallas picks as part of the Micah deal.

Might as well list the next two years second and third round picks as well
The outline of the picks we have at this moment includes the ones we already possessed. There are seven picks in the top 100 in the next two years. I was illustrating the wealth of picks Dallas owns at this time. How it plays out is anyone's guess because we have perhaps the worst GM in the history of the league.

In regard to, 'rebuilding,' or 'building the defense with draft picks, we now own seven picks in the next two years as stated above.

The Cowboys have two draft picks they would not have had, but for the Parsons trade. Claiming to have now have four firsts, two each in the next two drafts, is only two more than they already had. It’s an advantage to have an extra first, of course, but not that much of one and highly unlikely to be worth what Micah was, is, and will continue to be.

No matter how you frame it it is still four first round picks. No one is arguing they didn't already have two. But for the rebuild, there are four picks in two drafts in the first. That is significant.

And four firsts could very well offset one player who is savage. It's a team sport, and while we all loved Parsons, multiple defensive players can offset one great player. It's a team game.

Micah is a hypocrite, sure I'm not a fan of Jerry, but I blame this more on his double speak.

Visual representation of how Micah was performing *before* the 3 sack game this past weekend. You know, when most people here were saying he was underperforming. If you ran this same chart after week 7 he would be somewhere in the sky.

GB defeated Arizona on Sunday in a game in which the Jacoby Brissett led Cardinals outgained GB 330-260. GB also had 10 penalties for over 100 yards.

GB won mostly because of 6 sacks at critical times to keep the Cards out of the end zone. Micah had 3 of those sacks.

On a play Parsons was double-teamed, perennial pass rushing disappointment Rashan Gary (who is suddenly on pace for a career high 15.5 sacks) had a big sack causing a fumble (the only turnover in the game) that led to a GB TD.

Football is the ultimate team game, but if you ask 100 players, fans, coaches, and players associated with the GB Packers who it was that was most responsible for the team winning on Sunday, 99 will tell you it was Micah Parsons while the other, suffering from senility, mumbles something about Curly Lambeau or Vince Lombardi.
Of course Parsons can be a significant factor in winning games. It's a team sport and if the defensive supporting cast wasn't fundamentally talented or competent enough Parsons would struggle as well or not be as productive.

I understand if we were actually in an official rebuild mode and Micah wasn’t in our plans as we planned on trading him to highest bidder during Free Agency that could have actually been a strategic plan. But that’s not what happened. We had every intention on resigning. We just couldn’t get a deal done . But I’m not here to argue out as that’s been exhausted over last couple months.

This thread is about what the impacts of losing Micah has meant to this defense . The fact we lost him a week before the season had to be devasting to a DC and schemes with other losses on defense in FA and injuries.

Where was our pass rush going to come from. We also lost Lawrence as a Cap Casualty. Our top two edge rushers gone .

And with our 2 CB’s not a 100% recovering from injuries we were leaving our secondary very vulnerable without a pass rush.

WTH were we thinking. We had to know it could be a disaster .
We actually would be giving up more rypg with Micah teams have been running at him n qb option him to death these pass years that’s his flaw hell we ran at him the gb game bro was gassed

removing one player off a defense, even if its the best defensive player in the league, does not make your defense historically bad unless it was already terrible before. The players are struggling to adapt to Eberflus' scheme, most likely because Eberflus is a trash coach that has no business coaching at the NFL level.

Not saying Parsons' "fatal flaw" will not show up. However, current NFL rush defense rankings reveal the following:

#TeamRush Yards Allowed Avg.Rush TD Allowed
1Seahawks75.72
2Packers76.53

For comparison sake, last season, with Kenny Clark and without Micah Parsons, the Packers gave up 104 yards per game and finished 7th in rushing defense.

Other than Detroit, have you beaten anyone with a current record above .500?

It could . But it’s an unknown quantity. Micah was a very known quantity. Enough that he warranted 2 1st rounders in the 11th hour a week before the season.

Based on some of our 1st round picks on defense in recent years I’d give us less than 50% chance of hitting on a starter and much less chance on a generational talent like Micah especially with later draft slots which could be more like an early 2nd rounder.

In the meantime our team with a #1 offense and veteran QB in his prime and healthy is being wasted or put on hold at best.

It’s still too early to come to conclusions but it’s more likely our defensive woes are more contributed to lack of talent than coaching schemes. Afterall this was a bottom tier defense to begin with. And Micah isn’t the only starter we lost from last season.

It always takes two to tango but ultimately it’s our organizations responsibility to come to terms in contract negotiations, assuming that’s our intent .

Most critics I’ve read or heard argued it was our owners stubbornness and arrogance's which refused to negotiate with Micah’s agent . Throwing an offer out there isn’t enough.

And If we truly wanted to optimize Micah’s value we should have entertained his value earlier on offseason before teams had set their Cap a week before the season.

The last minute trade is an indication it was a failed negotiation gone bad with every intent on resigning lessening the value we could have received . More poor handling on our owners part.

However we shake it out, we failed in negotiations and or came up short in value of trade . A lose lose deal. And the two first round picks serve as nothing else but a consolation prize which may turn out to be closer to early 2nd round picks.
