I have already stated this in a previous post.

Given the current plight of the team I would want as follows:

- trade Lamb for ideally two 1sts or a 1st and 2nd if picks in 2026 and 2027.
- sign Pickens to a long term deal.
- sign Williams to a longer term deal.
- draft a quarterback in the 1st round in 2026.
- focus the draft on defense on 2026 and 2027.
- generally address the balance in resources/salary cap giving more to the defense and less to the offense.
- let Dak play out 2026 then look to trade him or dump him post June 2027. Whichever is better for the salary cap.
- bring in a proper Head Coach with a better defensive coordinator

Cowboys could be contending again as early as the 2027/28 season.

Pickens is going to go awol if he doesn't have a QB like he did in Pittsburgh. Pickens and Dak seem to have a good relationship.
 
Stop it.
Most players are a [little] banged up this time of the year.

Yeah I think he probably wish he could have stayed and played with a future 1st ballot Hall of Fame quarterback on a team with a good chance of winning their division.

He previously played with JAG quarterbacks so anyone with a bit more than a pulse would have been an improvement.

These all sound like great ideas.......... until you remember who runs the front office

Since you asked......my plan. On offense.....players like Tolbert (Flournoy emerging), and Schoomaker definitely gone......Terence Steele (QB blindside) needs to be replaced (FA market for a veteran). Pickens needs a deal w/o cheating him too bad. Means some restructuring of Dak & CD contracts. On defense....draft & free agency focused solely and exclusively on defense (except for Steele or a bargain too hard to refuse) for the next year.......I stay away from Michigan players just because it's been bad luck of late. I'm scouting small and HBCU schools also. Only Clark, Rookie DB Revels, Overshown and Bland (believe it or not) are untouchable on defense as starters. If a current defensive player plays ST, it may save him for the moment. Unlike Jerry, it would be a rebuild without declaring it to the media. Aubrey becomes secured for a while. I don't get rid of my QB like you prefer, but if so.....I'm making it known we are rebuilding in the media, in the bathroom and in the back room and I'm getting worth (that you wouldn't believe). If you don't have speed, lateral quickness, can't hit, not around the ball on film......not interested on my D. Now that's easy, but it ain't.

After they got behind, Arizona blitzed on just about every play. It’s been that way all year. Defense can’t stop anyone and they end up playing from behind thus becoming one dimensional.

I forgot about resigning Aubrey.
We don't disagree on much except Dak Prescott. He will never win a Superbowl regardless of where he played. Watching him play in the 2022 and particular the 2023 playoff games against the 49ers reminded me of how Cousins failed to get Washington in to the play offs after losing to a Giants team with nothing to play for. Some players simply will not get it done and Dak Prescott is one of those guys unfortunately as when it comes to the big game/moments, he just isn't good enough and as mentioned, there's no shame in that as that applies to many starting quarterbacks in the NFL.

We'll were familiar with starting QBs that can't get us there. So, we're rebuilding if we're searching for a new QB. Ok. Good luck.

If you are referring to Romo then the difference between him and Dak is that had Dak played better then the team would have won at least one of the play off games in 2022 and 2023 - particularly the latter when he threw two interceptions with what was effectively a Superbowl calibre team.

Romo could only really be blamed in the play offs for a play when he wasn't even playing quarterback against the Seahawks. Even then, had he received a regulation block then he runs in for a touchdown. He made the throw to win the game against the eventual Superbowl champions who beat the 16-0 Patriots but Crayton hesitated on his route, the o-line nearly killed him against the Vikings whilst against the Packers Murray fumbled the ball leaving 3-7 points on the field, Dan Bailey missed a regulation field goal which left just enough time for Rodgers to get the Packers in field goal range (6 point swing) and Dez decided to try and score a touchdown rather than simply survive the ground having secured the catch in the air.
