TRADED Schefter: Cowboys trade for Logan Wilson (7th round pick)

He might be an upgrade, but for that contract they have better have given up practically nothing
Yeah he's decent. He's a real NFL LB unlike Murray lol.
But his contract is not good. He's paid as a solid starter and he's not starting.
Why make a trade like this now?
You could get him (or someone like him) in the off season for slightly above league min. Sanborn actually has a slightly higher PFF grade.
He will be an improvement over Murray though.
Could have had him for less money in the off season after the Bengals cut him lol, because he's not playing to his contract.

I don't get the point of this move. Maybe it's a slight upgrade, but not worth the time involved for a 3-5 team.
As somebody mentioned earlier, this was a move to save Eberfus's job and nothing more. His system needs a smart MLB to QB his scheme. Wilson may not be what he once was but he knows where people need to be and is better than anyone currently on this roster by a mile. He's signed for 2 more years so he's not just a rental. Wouldn't have been a fan of this trade had he been a FA at the end of this year.

This pattern of not doing anything in free agency, waiting until the last minute to pay top dollar to our own players and then trading for JAGs with 6th or 7th round picks is shockingly not effective.

A sports alert I got said a 7th round pick for Logan.

Logan was a pretty good LB for Cincinnati, when they had some surrounding talent along with him.
I don't know what happened, maybe some injuries I believe.

I think he will be better than we have for a 7th rounder.

So Jerry trades for a MLB who can’t even start for the Bengals defense??? Brilliant.
He's better than anything we saw last night. Not that he's great, might be a liability vs pass but sure tackler vs run which the Cowboys desperately needed.

I'm pretty sure you could take both Cincy/Dallas defense, combine them and they'd still be a bottom defense in the league.

What a disaster this season has been.
Post of the month. I suspect you might be correct and what a wonderful experiment it would be. Well done.

Look I get that our season is cooked.

But we need help inside. Murray is the worst LB in the league and James is too slow.

Wilson + Overshown is a massive upgrade at LB
Me i am not negative about that trade just because our season is cooked.

Not at all. But because this trade is just Jerrys way to stay in the media. It makes no sense at all.

The player is way over the hill and even in his peak he wasnt all that good.

What should a trade for a player that may have only one or two years left do to us? We arent one great veteran away from winning anything. We are so bad we need to rebuild from the ground up. Therefore we need young players with upside. Not washed up roster spot occupiers.

What will he help us achieve? Lets say one more win. One more win that will essentially do nothing for us this season but give us a worse draft pick next year. Great decission Jerrhu!

Another thing is that hinders me even to make a somehow reflective post: I get that our other LBs are bad. But who brought them in? Now the same people bring in this player. What do we expect? Suddenly better judgement from people like the ones who run our franchise?

So in the end it doesnt matter what decissions they make. Trade or not to trade. Collect first rounders to spent in the next years drafts. In the end they will make wrong decissions, draft bad or medicore players and spent money on FAs rubbish like Murray.

I'm not losing any sleep over trading a 7th round pick for a LB that may not be a big needle mover, but he's probably the best LB we have on the roster at this point.

They drafted 2 LB’s this past year and want to see if they have anything. Cincy fans say Logan is the best LB they have and that he was done wrong. This was basically a salary dump for a youth movement.

He isn’t Super Bowl or conf. championship Logan Wilson. But he is an actual LB who had 135 tackles and 4 int’s the year before last and over 100 tackles in 11 games last year. He will be better than anything we have at the position.

If this were Howie, he would be proclaimed a genius on this board.

James is a will linebacker, Wilson is a true Mike backer. You would think James/Overshown will be handling that spot now and take Murray off the field. Wilson is a green dot player.
We got Wilson for a 7th. So no complaints. He will have two weeks to get ready for the Raiders. We have gotten better at linebacker. Good move…..

I don't understand the hate on this move. If it were a 3rd? 4th? Absolutely. A 7th? We also control him for 3 years?

Wilson is a plug and play MLB. He is above average, a captain and replaces Murray. Wilson is graded 54.8 on PFF, Murray is 39.7 and is rated 80/80. Shemar James is rated 73/80.

They need somebody who can read and react to these dumpoff passes and keep them from going from 3 yards to 15.
The hate is: they are going NOWHERE this year. What is the upside of this pick - they win one more meaningless game which hurts the future (draft). So - they have given up a draft pick (I don't care what round it still has value) for the chance to hurt their own draft position. It makes NO SENSE.

This is the trade we were talking about?

Uh, the season is already over anyway. So we should tank at this point.

Cincy fans are saying he's good in zone coverage, but struggles in man coverage. I haven't watched any film to verify but if true, he should be a nice plug-and-play, and a big upgrade over Murray. Guess we will see.
