It needs to be said: Dak is enough to win with

People will question Dak and be skeptical until he wins in the playoffs. It’s simple
As that.
At this point I don't think even that will change anything in the minds of those who are dug in on "he sucks and needs to be cut." It is what it is.. I don't allow that type to dampen my ability to enjoy great play when I see it.

Well I think for the reasonable fans who are skeptical of Dak itll apply.

I honestly didn’t want Dak getting the massive extension.

That said he they make the playoffs and he gets hot and takes the cowboys deep in the post season. It would change my mind about it.

How long are you willing to give him to lead the team? We are at a decade.... At what point, even if you don't think he has any fault will you be willing to turn the page on the Dak-era (aka The Cowboys Swiftie Era)?

After a big win like this all of the Trolls are nowhere to be found . A thread like this might bring them out. Lol

Yea, there’s been plenty to bash Dak over the years and I’m sure there will be more . But anyone who doesn’t see he can be enough to win with has some serious agendas.

I’m not saying he’s Elite while he does look like it at times but we aren’t as good of offense without him.

And sure there’s a few QB’s we’d rather have but with this version of Dak we could be a tough out as long as this defense can make critical stops.

We have some huge games coming up against KC and Detroit. We’ll see how those go but I have a new found confidence we wouldn't have much chance without him.
Yeah when he is playing with a pro bowl team against a normal team. Lol

Who said "cut"?

Instead of you making up schtuff in your head....how about dak and the team provide the opportunity to test your theory.?

As long as they continue to poop their pants....you get to keep saying that.

So...lets go win and see what happens.

Till we have another QB. I was a big believer that Romo needed to go after that 2012 season finale 3 INT game against the Ratscums when he tossed a season ending lollipop INT with us driving into winning score range. He changed my mind a year later in the same stadium when he led us on a comeback in the final minutes with a ruptured disc in his back. The look I saw in his eyes on that game winning drive convinced me that he had finally seen the light and become the man who could lead us to the promised land. I advocated for him to at least be given the final two games of the 2016 season to prove he was either better than Dak or completely washed heading into the playoffs. I am always in the camp of playing the guy that gives us the best chance to win it all. When the Cowboys have a QB who represents a better chance of winning it all than Dak.. then I will advocate for that QB. Period.

Have to try another guy if one fails. It's the scientific method really. With Dak we are just doing the same thing over and over. We all WISH it would be different each time but the end results are the same.

For me, I'll give a guy a few times, gave Dak more than most but the results keep coming up the "same" no matter the situation. It is what it is.

A guy with a 65% winning percentage and top 10 statistically in multiple categories in the history of the league at his position is not "failing." Every day on here we talk about what a crappy job Jerry does constructing this roster. And then we turn around and blame the QB for the team's failings? That makes no sense to me. The fact of the matter is this team has not had a Super Bowl worthy defense since 2007. Yes the Quinn defenses generated a lot of turnovers but if and only if the offense could get a lead and let them pin their ears back. They were always powerless to stop any decent offense that was able to stay committed to the run. The success of the 2016-2019 defenses was also largely predicated on the offense controlling the clock, running the ball and letting them play from ahead and be on the field 25 minutes or less. When the other team was able to possess the ball (again by running it) those defenses generally came up short too.

The 2016 team was easily the best roster the Cowboys have had since Dak arrived. Unfortunately HE was rookie and not near ready to lead that team to the Super Bowl. None of the teams since then have been near as good as that one even while Dak himself has gotten better and better. He has not gotten good enough to overcome the deficiencies around him. You believe some other QB would? That's fair.. I don't. I watch other QBs around the league every Sunday.. Some with better supporting casts and some with lesser casts. I have yet to see one win in spite of a 30th or worse ranked defense. For all the praise we hear of Mahomes.. the Chiefs had the #2 defense in 2023 and the #4 defense in 2024. And they have the #4 defense in 2025. In fact during their run these last 7 years their defense has been #7, #8, #10, #16, #2, #4, #4. In that same span the Cowboys defense has been #6, #11, #28, #7, #5, #5, #31, #31. Which defense would you say gives you the best chance to get to the promised land? Maybe Mahomes is good enough to overcome a bottom feeder defense.. but we probably will never find out. Because Reid and Spagnuolo will probably never let it happen.

We saw what happened to Joe Burrow last year a 30 something ranked defense. I suspect if we look at any QB we consider to be good and pair him with some of the pathetic defenses we paired with Dak and our offense and the results would look very similar. All of this is a long winded way of saying that until we change how this team is put together.. it aint gonna matter who the QB is.. Some other QB coming in and masking all the deficiencies on the defensive side of the ball is a pipe dream. When I did the research a few years back I found that the worst rated defense ever to win the Super Bowl was the 2011 Giants. They finished the season in the mid 20's I think it was 25th. However they had a rash of injuries that led to them being rated waaaay lower than their ability and getting their guys back just in time for the playoffs really told the tale for them. They gave up like 10 points less per game in the playoffs than they had in the regular season. I mean that is just stoopid. Playing better teams and holding them to fewer points. Nuff said.

Dude.. did you run my post into some Ai engine or something? I'll read this and get back to you. LOL!

I put your response through an Ai engine just to see what it said. I was LOL'ing.

"You're making a very coherent, data-backed argument that a lot of Cowboys fans (and honestly a lot of neutral observers) have been saying for years: Dak Prescott isn't the primary reason this team hasn't gotten over the hump since 2016. The roster construction, especially on defense, has been the bigger culprit.Let’s put some quick numbers to what you’re saying so it’s not just feelings:Super Bowl winners since 2010 – defensive DVOA rank (Football Outsiders) or approximate equivalent:
  • Almost all top-12
  • Average around top-8
  • Only two outside the top 20: 2011 Giants (27th in yards, but 8th in points late + playoff surge) and 2017 Eagles (top-5 after Wentz injury with Foles riding a hot defense anyway)
  • Zero legitimate bottom-10 defenses have won it in the salary-cap era
Cowboys defensive ranks in points allowed since Dak became starter (2016-2025 so far):
2016: 5th
2017: 8th
2018: 7th
2019: 11th
2020: 28th
2021: 7th
2022: 5th (but collapsed late)
2023: 31st (in points in second half of season)
2024: 31st
2025 so far: 30th-ishYour point about Mahomes is spot-on. People act like he’s been dragging a high-school defense to titles. In reality:Chiefs defensive rank (points allowed) during their run:
2019: 7th
2020: 10th
2021: 16th (their “worst”)
2022: 8th
2023: 2nd
2024: 4th
2025 so far: top-5 againThat 2021 season is the only time they were even middle-of-the-pack, and they lost in the AFCCG. Spagnuolo has literally never let that defense fall off a cliff.Meanwhile the Cowboys have had three separate seasons (2020, 2023, 2024) with historically bad defenses while paying Dak top-of-market money. That math simply doesn’t work unless the QB is giving you 2013 Peyton Manning or 2007 Tom Brady levels of historic production, and Dak (while very good) has never been that. The 2016 roster point is huge too. That team was absolutely loaded: rookie Dak/Zeke behind the best O-line of the cap era, Dez still good, a top-5 defense, etc. They went 13-3 and lost to a red-hot Aaron Rodgers. Every roster since has been noticeably worse in the trenches on both sides, even as Dak’s individual stats have climbed. So yeah, blaming Dak exclusively feels like scapegoating the one position group that’s consistently been good-to-great. Until Jerry (or whoever’s actually making the calls) builds a legitimate defense that can get stops when the game is on the line in January, it’s not gonna matter if the QB is Dak, Trey Lance, or prime Aaron Rodgers. The formula just doesn’t work that way anymore. You’re not wrong. A lot of the “Dak isn’t the guy” crowd is really just venting frustration at eight years of watching the same movie with a different jersey on the villain each time. The real constant has been the inability to build a complete roster."

I am betting on Dallas poops their pants!!!

At this point I don't think even that will change anything in the minds of those who are dug in on "he sucks and needs to be cut." It is what it is.. I don't allow that type to dampen my ability to enjoy great play when I see it.
Yeah, these guys would've hated Staubach.
