Jerry offered Micah and a 1st for Quinnen Williams

"I thought that much of Williams,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. He added that the deal didn’t go through because the Jets didn’t have the salary cap space necessary to pay Parsons.

This nonsense Jerry senility misspeak is interesting for a zone reason as well.

It draws out comments from people who are so delusional that they would actually have been on board with Micah and a Cowboy first for Quennen.

do we have 2 1st rd picks in next years draft?you can move pieces around and say what you want.... but we have a damn stout Dline now, and in the upcoming draft we have 2 1st rd picks. Ill take that///...... oh, and we didnt pay Michael 46 million per season.
Yes, but we have no second-round pick. I think it's disingenuous to act like we have an extra pick. We have a better pick than the second-rounder would have been. The next year, I don't know how much of a difference it will make that the Jets get the better of our two first-rounders. If we can build on what we're doing now, our pick and Green Bay's may be closer together.

I won't be surprised if we trade down with our second first next year to recoup a second and add some picks.

Which is patently untrue considering Williams this year and next counts less against the cap than Micah.

Jerry is just a liar, always has been.

If he’s being serious about believing his own lie then that doesn’t bode well dor our remaining picks or talent

But then agai, Jerry’s always been incompetent

Yeah, that's just crazy. Even though I value 3-tech more than end, trading a premium player and a first for a premium player is too much. Jerry would have deservedly been ridiculed for that trade.

As it turns out, Micah and Mazi for Clark and Quinnen is looking like a fair trade.

Who cares, both the packers and cowboys are now both happy what they got
Yeah, it worked out better than I thought it would. The trade for Quinnen made all the difference. Clark was a solid addition, but getting a premier 3-tech as well made it worthwhile to trade one of the top pass rushers in the league.

I mean, if you'd asked me before the season if I would trade Parsons for Clark and Quinnen, I would have said sign me up ... and I not down on Parsons like some on this board. I don't have to make him look bad to appreciate what we got in return.

That would’ve been one of the worst trades in sports history had we gave up a first & Micah for Quinnen Williams or any defensive player in the NFL for that matter.
Yep. Micah straight up for Quinnen would have been a fair trade. At most, because of the position, Micah and a third-day pick would have been OK. Micah and a first is outlandish.

So that means the Jets said no to Micah and a 1st but then a couple of months later accepted a 1st, a 2nd and Mazi Smith.

The Jets saw more value in a 2nd and Mazi over Micah.

Make it make sense all the way around.
Well, it is the Jets

Micah has more value league wide than Quinnen Williams does.

Deal didn’t go through because the team with the 3rd most cap projected space for 2026, and the most projected cap space for 2027, couldn’t make it work?

If he’s gonna lie, he should make it believable.

I think Jerry is lying here.

It was originally reported months ago that the Cowboys offered the Jets Micah Parsons FOR Quinnen Williams and a first round pick. The Jets did not want to meet Micah's contract demands and said no.

I think he misspoke. The offer was probably Q plus a one for Micah.

I know, it's popular to crap on Micah here, but he has 12 sacks in 12 games. He's about to make his fourth All-Pro in five years. Dude is playing like a Hall of Famer.

I'm happy for Micah. At the same time the Cowboys would not have had the draft capital to acquire Williams had they not traded Parsons.

So essentially they swapped an all-pro edge rusher for an all-pro DT. Not bad.

I think he is just old and said it backwards. The reactions by some on what grandpa says is funny.

well, I think it is a little early to say that. At the end of the season, they need to address our needs and what they see is available. Can you address those needs in the 2nd rd? Maybe, and if you can, it would make sense to trade the lesser of the 1sts next year. No matter what you do, I think 2 players in the 2nd rd is better than 1 middle of the 1st pick. There are absolute stud players found throughout the draft in various rds. The more shots you have, the better.
