So Guyton was another wasted pick? Hated that pick before they made it. As soon as his name started getting mentioned it was happening. This team has not been great at drafting as of late, and they keep putting more resources into the line while neglecting other positions. Why is Bass playing OG instead of Hoffman? Who is clearly the better player.

I think he just knows he won’t be as good out there, even if he is better than what we have.

They drafted Smith to be a T though and let's not kid ourselves Smith will be asking for pay adjustment to take the role full time. I have no problem with that. Neither will he as T's make much more.

I wonder if any of the experts here consider that?

Sure but he was pretty good at T even without every really getting to concentrate on it. Maybe whatever physical ailments bothered him this year take T off the table. If so, it is what it is but the team should look at every conceivable configuration to get the best 5 on the field.

I liked Guyton thought he was making progress until I realized he’s missed chunks of rookie & sophomore seasons . LT too important need stability

I know a lot of posters didn’t like the pick . I saw size some athleticism he could maul & dominate but the injuries plus penalties makes me think Dallas needs to improve at that position go compete for RT the remainder of the rookie deal

It worked for Zack Martin. He was clearly in decline when he held out for his last bag. Everyone just said “pay the man!!!” Not a word about “he signed a contract by gum!”

This year he is still costing us $9m against the cap and another $16.5m in 2026.

Just posted in another thread........Tyler isn't stupid. He's well award the pay difference from guard to LT.
My guess is
* they have def decided Guyton isn't the long-term answer
* they wanna see IF Tyler can play at the same All-Pro level
* IF NOT, they will keep him at LG and go shopping for a Guyton's replacement

Larry Allen and Bruce Matthews are smirking at the all pro.

I believe Zack Martin was asked to move also and he refused.

It's absolutely about them not paying him like a LT when he signed his extension. I don't blame him.

He may end up being an All-Pro LT. He is a good player and it's possible he excels outside. That would be a major discount for the team having him at a Guards price excelling at LT.

I respect his business sense.

I think the smart play is to move him to LT and give him a new contract to cover the bump in pay
