Tyler Smith to meet with Schottenheimer about his future

Sure it is. They want a cheap left tackle. That guy signed a guard contract. Everyone sees what they are trying to pull. This stupidity has Stephen Jones written all over it.
that's ridiculous. You're acting like they went into it knowing they were going to move him to LT. Did Larry Allen whine when they moved him all over the line or did he just do the damn job.

Well, they got rid of their best player before the start of the season.

They will screw up any attempt to sign Pickens.

Logically, the next step would be to sabotage the career of their best O-lineman.

No one can claim that Jerry isn't methodical in his approach.
their best player who is currently missing significant playing time for the second season in a row. Their best player who never broke 14 sacks and whose tackle totals went down every year from his rookie year yet let people in here act like he was the second coming of Lawrence Taylor and Reggie White wrapped into one. Their best player who brought multiple first round picks and a solid tackle that people have been whining for for years.

Yeah....that one.

STILL the best player the Cowboys had.

He is the 10th highest paid OL in the NFL potentially being asked to play a position he really hasn't played in the NFL before. He does not need a raise just because he switches to LT (if he does) and if that is what he is looking for before the next offseason even begins, then that is a really bad sign. Plus, he did not play up to his contract this past year. Does he want to give some back?

The Tyler Smith situation is tough. Our LT position is awful. He's better than anything we have. But his best position is probably Guard.

I also don't like his tone. "What's smart for me and my career." Come on dude we just made you one of the highest paid Olinemen in the league. It's not like you're playing on your rookie deal and up for a new contract. Plus he had a mediocre season after getting that fat contract.

I’ll take two 1sts for him and Shotty can hit it too. They both should be talking about their futures here lol!

Translation: I don't want to play LT (or) Show me the money if you want me to stay.

Already released to the media before the private one-on-one. Dude ain't happy.

And if Guyton can't play RT either?

If there is only one worth while LT drafting in the first round, you’ll probably have to use the first pick or give up more to move up. There always seems to be teams looking for a stud LT.

However, there is a fourth option. Draft a few in the lower rounds and develop them. Philly did that with Mailata; maybe we can do the same?
Yeah, that's what I didn't want to do in this draft but you're most likely right with the glaring need at LT that exists.

I mean, I like your suggestion in theory on the lower rounds and Mailata example but I'm looking at this from a sense of urgency viewpoint.

By that, I mean that they need a plug n play starter vice draft and develop guy based on this offense's needs for blindside protection of a soon to be 33 year old Dak.

My opinion.

and worth nowhere near what he was asking for so quit acting like they were wrong for getting rid of him. Had he stuck with the handshake they had it would have been another story. But just another buffoon in a large line of buffoons in the league.

Sometimes I think.. who is this dude.

He seems very anti-player.

Love the av tho.

Notice a trend? Soon after we sign guys to a 2nd contract, they change their behavior. Then it's no longer about team. It's about " being smart" lol . Maybe we should trade him. He could be a malcontent

It's trouble brewing. Need to resolve this now or trade him. Stuff like this can divide us again. Players these days get so sensitive. Thin skinned.
