Not exactly how it went. He was a team guy all the way. He wasn't coming off of being paid. He only complained as a negotiation to get a pay boost . What Tyler is trying to do is a shake down, coming off of being paid. Double dipping. If we allow this, it sets the wrong tone. A line must be drawn. We want culture change, this must end.Zack Martin certainly complained. He refused
Martin was about to be washed and he knew it. His ploy was even worse. He knew he didn’t deserve more money because he could feel that the day was coming soon when he wouldn’t be earning what he was paid. Not exactly how it went. He was a team guy all the way. Mark Tuinei and Randy White say hello. Landy made them switch positions and it worked out pretty well.He has already said he wants to play LG.
I wouldn't want to piss him off!
Fair enough on Martin. Yep, I hated how he handled it. I'm turning on Smith because he's just been paid. Now he's doubling back for another bite out of the apple. Not good. It's a surefire way to get fans against you, and alienate your boss. I think the kid might get the clarity he asked for.Martin was about to be washed and he knew it. His ploy was even worse. He knew he didn’t deserve more money because he could feel that the day was coming soon when he wouldn’t be earning what he was paid.
He held out an entire training camp, something we crucified Micah for.
Tyler hasn’t done *anything* yet, but already people are turning on him.

It doesn't matter that he'd be "top 5-10 for a tackle." He's the top paid Guard and Tackle is an even higher pay bracket. They knew Guyton was questionable, locked up Smith to a Guard contract he'd like (highest paid), now are trying to do a switcheroo on him to a higher profile position that pays more after locking him in for less. It's like getting paid to defend against coyotes and now being asked to defend against wolves for the same pay. You're talking like his skills at guard and tackle are equivalent. They aren't. His contract pays him as an elite guard, which is higher than most OT contracts. I think I read his contract would be top 5-10 for a tackle. Could be wrong, but it sounds reasonable. If the argument is that he should be paid as a tackle, his skill as a tackle need to be taken into account. Why would we pay him top LT money if he isn't a top LT? If anything, he's getting paid more than his worth at the position, but the team needs a LT. They can't afford to go offense early in the draft and the current options aren't so great. Smith doesn't take the position going forward. He fills a critical hole while the team finds a suitable replacement. Seems like a reasonable request for a well compensated player.
Respectfully disagree here. We know Tyler Smith is an all pro talent at LG. We got Booker at RG. Beebe coming into his own at Center.Screw that. You are getting paid to play, regardless. If you end up getting moved to a different position with a different pay grade then you deal with that on the next contract. These whiny *** players these days are ridiculous. Does the contract you signed say you only play left guard?
I'm not advocating at this point for any specific position or change. My point is that he's paid to play and doesn't or shouldn't get to dictate where on the line that is. You play where the team needs you as long as you're under contract.Respectfully disagree here. We know Tyler Smith is an all pro talent at LG. We got Booker at RG. Beebe coming into his own at Center.
Interior OL is now stout running the ball and on passing downs. Why mess with that?
Are the Cowboys out on Guyton at LT? Health aside he was markedly improved from his rookie year
I'm not trying to see musical chairs with the OL. That's how we get our $60M QB killed.
well I'm not finding that anywhere. Care to show the proof?he did though
According to the Peanut gallery here it was all Harris' and he should immediately be the DC if not the head coach.Parsons was far more than just his stats.
His presence allowed his teammates to make more plays.
Do you think it was just a coincidence that the Cowboys were a leader in the NFL in takeaways while he was here?
So now he was a one man defense and everything was because he was on the field?Do you really think that Bland and Diggs were legitimate 1st team All-Pros? Do you think they lead the NFL in INTs without QBs running for their lives because Parsons was hunting them down?
How many Cowboys and ex-Cowboy players owed their new contracts to Parsons?
So now he's the only reason the Packers win, even though before the trade the Packers were supposed to be Superbowl contenders?Do you think it was a coincidence that the Packers haven't won since he went down?
That's just hyperbole for the rest of the world to take shots at Jones. I don't see the players association chasing Jones down, do you?Jerry Jones violated CBA rules when he tried to do an end-around on Parson's agent. He attempted some slick stunt and he is well known for those.
That handshake from Jerry Jones was deceptive as hail. Parsons probably didn't even realize that Jerry was trying to formalize the deal. That isn't how things are done in the NFL and Jerry darned sure knew that.
The initial idea was never to trade Parsons. That came about because he decided to act like a buffoon on the world stage. All of the "I don't have to be the highest paid" and "I want to be a Dallas Cowboy" was just a bunch of nonsense and when it came down to it he showed his *** like a petulant child.I get that trading Parsons might have been a necessity as far as the salary cap goes but Jerry had to screw around, as usual and he botched the whole thing.
Trading Parsons a week before the start of the season undermined the confidence and moral of the team. No matter how professional these players attempt to be, that trade certainly had a negative impact. The entire contract negotiations was mishandled.
The trade should have happened earlier if it was going to happen. It should have happened before the 2025 draft so the Cowboys could have benefited more this season.
As far as Parson's value........just look at the before/after for both the Cowboys and Packers.
That was fifty years ago. it’s almost impossible to compare the two situations.Mark Tuinei and Randy White say hello. Landy made them switch positions and it worked out pretty well.
Common sense
he filled in at T during a game if I recall but he made it clear that he wanted to only play G when the Team asked about longer term to help them thru a needy stretch.well I'm not finding that anywhere. Care to show the proof?
Agreed in terms of doing what the team needs, but what message is Schotty telling Guyton - and us fans - by his statement? What I read is he doesn't have faith in Guyton, who was drafted in the 1st round to be a LT.I'm not advocating at this point for any specific position or change. My point is that he's paid to play and doesn't or shouldn't get to dictate where on the line that is. You play where the team needs you as long as you're under contract.
Whatever happened to give and take as a working relationship. He just got paid millions of dollars by the organization and he is already pushing back. I think that is what some people are concerned about. Its a money first focus and that sentiment is bigger in Dallas than anywhere else. Its problem Jerry fosters and costs the organization wins on the field.Martin was about to be washed and he knew it. His ploy was even worse.
