With the speed of moving on from Eberflus, I feel ownership has given Schott the power to hire his own DC. It so happens that Jim Leonard can interview via zoom this week where the Broncos are on their 1st rd bye. There is a connection between them while with the Jets.

Now if they are unable to hire Leonard, I am expecting to see a similar approach like last offseason when they hired Klayton Adams. Adams had no prior afflication with Schott, but he was a rising star in the coaching ranks. They may hire someone we never heard of or even from the college ranks, but that doesn't mean it would be a poor hire over a retread candidate.

Flores remains my #1 target and it appears the Cowboys covet him. However, think his agent is trying to drive up his price for an extension with Minnesota. Also, heard he likes to build his defense around veterans not young prospects, which the Cowboys like to do.

That's exactly what is happening, aside from the fact that he's going to check out some HC opportunities, that is why he is a very low percentage option and I'm glad the Cowboys probably have a more realistic list than most of the fans have...

My concern with Flores is that he'll be here one year and then be a HC. So that's 5 coordinators in 5 years. It may be the same with Leonard. We need someone who will stay longer than a cup of coffee.

That would be an issue, but, if he does, we get 2 3rd round picks if he becomes a HC after being a DC for us.

That’s why I’m more interested in Shwartz… I think he’s less likely to be offered a HC job .

Jerry just said that he’s not just looking for another HC/DC that he would be fine with a first year DC.

With Leonard you have to think Vance Joseph might get hired as a HC and he would just be the DC for Denver. Many weeks until we can even have him as well.

That’s the risk you take. Whoever takes this defense and makes them even top 15 they are gone sooner rather than later. Quinn stayed a little longer then he had to.

Who on earth would hire Joseph as a head coach?

That is the nature of the business and you cannot worry about that. If they are successful, you take someone off of the staff.

Schotty just said they will cast a wide net in looking for a DC. Requests for interviews should start going out this week.. let's hope the search is thorough.
