I don't know if Parker will be a good DC, but I am glad they finally hired a young up-and-coming guy for that position.

Sure, there are a couple of older coaches I would love to have if they were available, but we've tried the old guy route for a while now and it has failed over and over.

The only semi-success was Quinn and that was only because of turnovers which were very hit-or-miss and his run defenses were horrible.

The Cowboys have had a habit for years with hiring DCs whose defenses were overly passive (ex: Zimmer/Eberflus) or overly aggressive (ex: Quinn).

At least with a first time DC and a younger guy, maybe we'll get more innovation with controlled aggressive schemes, aka a "Goldilocks" system.

It might be but hes an unknown quantity.

If he was taking over a decent established defense as a 1st time DC, I think the transition would be better.

Hes taking over a 30th ranked defense with no experience as a sole DC.

If I was a up and coming DC, I would want to go to the worst squad just to show you i can coach the players and make them successful.

I see more value in that then coaching a stacked defense as a first timer.
