Signed by Cowboys Cowboys hire Eagles secondary coach Christian Parker as DC

Very excited about this. I was dreading a Gannon hire. It obviously has the capacity to go really wrong considering Parker’s relative inexperience and the paucity of the talent on the roster but I genuinely think he is a talented coach with potential to be great rather than just a guy with a high floor and low ceiling.
I’m under no illusion that this defensive roster is “stacked”. We definitely need another linebacker, end and a safety (or more). But I think if the corners were healthy they could at least be serviceable.

You didn't interview them.
Neither did Jerry Jones if we are being totally honest. He glanced at his resume, went over the AI notes on all the previous interviews and signed off. He may not have been familiar with him. That is potentially good.

now comes the real question:
is our brain trust (vomit) going to get D players that will do the job?

Most important thing is having a DC that understands how to adjust his scheme to better fit the players he has

a GOOD defensive coordinator will work with what he has rather than demand specific players/types for his system to be efficient

Dan Quinn did this in Dallas, so it's possible.

a GOOD DC also needs to be able to work with the HC to assemble his staff (just like OC does)

He shouldn't be forced to make due with Jerry's preferred holdovers. If an assistant needs to go... they go.

Huh? The Eagles had the sixth best pass defense and gave up the fewest touchdown passes in the NFL last season.
They also have a pretty good DL. I do see they had corners make the All Pro team. So perhaps I am mistaken that our new DC will be amazing.

What? That was their strength under Parker.

2024

1st in passing yards allowed per game
1st in yards per attempt
3rd in opposing QB rating
6th in TDs passes allowed

2025

8th in passing yards allowed per game
5th in yards per attempt
2nd in opposing QB rating
1st in TD passes allowed

For contrast, this was their rankings in 2023 before he got there:

31st in passing yards allowed per game
15th in yards per attempt
29th in opposing QB rating
31st in TD passes allowed

Now granted, they did improve the talent as well over those years but it's categorically false to that neither the secondary or their pass D were strengths when Parker was their DB coach.
Dak lit them up twice. Imagine what Dart will do to us now.

Ultimately no big deal and has to be somewhat coincidental, but for those fans will point to one game and call it proof of whatever, check this out

Christian Parker's track record against the Cowboys was impressive.

Green Bay (defensive quality control coach)
Routed the Cowboys in 2019, shut them out 24-0 through most of the game, and Dak threw 3 INTs.

Denver (defensive backs coach)
Routed the Cowboys in 2021, shut them out 30-0 through most of the game.

Philadelphia (passing game coordinator)
Routed the Cowboys in 2024. In the first game, the Cowboys never scored a touchdown and lost 34-6.

Routed the Cowboys again in 2024. In the second game, they were shut out for three quarters and lost 41-7.

Beat the Cowboys in 2025. In the first game, the Cowboys never scored in the second half and lost the game.

The Cowboys finally beat him in the second game of 2025, but it wasn't easy. His defense shut them down early, with the Eagles going up 21-0 late in the first half before turning the ball over twice in the fourth quarter to squander the game away.

No wonder the Cowboy loved this guy. Everywhere he went, he was their kryptonite

:laugh:And people wonder why Philly couldn't rush the QB....or cover. This whole set up is trash. They got the most talent in the league....yet still can't figure it out how to use it. It's like the 6yr old whos found daddy's gun.

Perfect Jerry hire. No experience whatsoever as a coordinator at any level and will owe Jerry obedience for the opportunity he probably wouldn't have been offered elsewhere.

HC, OC and now DC .....all are in their first time jobs as sole HC and Coordinators.

Just coincidence of course.

How is McCoy elite? And why are we discussing players that are yet on the team? Why are we discussing a Tennessee cornerback? Did we not learn from the Dwayne Goodrich situation? Answer me!
McCoy is going to be a 1st round pick and probably would be the first CB off the board if not for the acl injury. And he still might be.

Everyone should.
The guy literally plays more zone than Flus....WTH is there to love?

Do we have a pass rush???? No....

Do we have 3-4 LBers? No......

Does Overshown fit a 3-4? No

Your Ok spending 60 million on 3 DT/NT .....and none of them will get more than 6 sacks?

You literally could draft 3 guys in the 5th round of this draft...and get the same production....

The entire D-line for Philly...Carter (3), Davis(4.5),Young (2.5) and Ojomo.....16 sacks...And Ojomo got those playing as a DE IN A 4-3...and he got 6.

So your ok if your 60 million dollar stud tackles come home with 10 sacks for the season?

That's a complete waste of resources.....

This just stinks of failure from day 1..... :banghead:

Do you really trust that EZE can make the transition to OLB from DE? I don't.....He barely registered any sacks...and he's getting in trouble off the field

So what are you gonna do with the best defensive player you had in Clowney??? He doesn't fit a 3-4...Are you gonna ask him to drop in coverage????....Just gonna let him walk????? Another mistake.....

It's like this front office has had 3 weeks to think about this ......and it's like how can we completely screw this up????? Because I can't think of a better plan to get the number 1 pick.

This is just tanking in disguise......and it's not fooling me.

They won the Super Bowl last year with that defense.

That is so bogus...It's not even funny

That is what gets you beat my friend......Asking a Jadevon Clowney to cover a back in a 3-4.... 1 on 1 is a recipe for disaster.

So tired of teams trying to take players and make them fit into their schemes. That's how you ruin players.

Have a scheme....and find the right personnel. Quit forcing round pegs into square holes.....Good Gawd it's not hard. No wonder this franchise has lost for 30 years....Because I'm sure Jerry listens to 95 % of the BS that is being trashed around here.

The Jets get the better of our draft pick and Green Bay’s next year. Tanking does nothing for 2027.
