Defensive coordinator
YesIs this official yet? If not what's the hold up?
Most important thing is having a DC that understands how to adjust his scheme to better fit the players he has
a GOOD defensive coordinator will work with what he has rather than demand specific players/types for his system to be efficient
Dan Quinn did this in Dallas, so it's possible.
a GOOD DC also needs to be able to work with the HC to assemble his staff (just like OC does)
He shouldn't be forced to make due with Jerry's preferred holdovers. If an assistant needs to go... they go.
My idea for "I love CP" t-shirts probably won't go over well now that I think about it.
You seem sharpYay!
.we get the guy who git to hang around a great DC like Fangio and cash in on Fangio's skill.... YIPPEEEEEE!!!!
Next, perhaps we can hire Kyle Shannanhan's mailman to be our OC!
What we REALLY need his Ozzy Newsome's landscaper to become our GM.
It makes sense. The guys thry hired last year all had similar traits except one. Which makes you question who was behind Eberflus.
It's a nightmare so far......until he turns it into a nice dream job. Work to be done.Congrats to Christian and his family for getting to work with this talent. It is a dream come true.
I mean you’d have to assume. I think Shotty signed off on it honestly and was probably ok with it and realize fast it was a mistake signing off on it.my understanding Eberflus was a jerry hire
Based on the timing and the fact that Eberflus was hired first, it was a job requirement for Schottenheimer. Whoever took the job had to accept the Joneses’ choice of defensive coordinator.I mean you’d have to assume. I think Shotty signed off on it honestly and was probably ok with it and realize fast it was a mistake signing off on it.
And I don't believe this was the first time Jerry pulled that idiotic move.Based on the timing and the fact that Eberflus was hired first, it was a job requirement for Schottenheimer. Whoever took the job had to accept the Joneses’ choice of defensive coordinator.
The total opposite of how competent organizations do it.
No. He hired Garrett before Wade Phillips as well. And I don't believe this was the first time Jerry pulled that idiotic move.
Music to my ears. This marks the first time since Monte Kiffin in 2013 that the Cowboys have not had a former NFL head coach as their defensive coordinator.
Since then, they have had
- Rod Marinelli (2014-19)
- Mike Nolan (2020)
- Dan Quinn (2021-23)
- Mike Zimmer (2024)
- Matt Eberflus (2025),
I agree to an extent. I think they didn’t have to sell him too hard on Eberflus. But yes I do believe it was brought to him.Based on the timing and the fact that Eberflus was hired first, it was a job requirement for Schottenheimer. Whoever took the job had to accept the Joneses’ choice of defensive coordinator.
The total opposite of how competent organizations do it.
