Thanks for the history!

Most important thing is having a DC that understands how to adjust his scheme to better fit the players he has

a GOOD defensive coordinator will work with what he has rather than demand specific players/types for his system to be efficient

Dan Quinn did this in Dallas, so it's possible.

a GOOD DC also needs to be able to work with the HC to assemble his staff (just like OC does)

He shouldn't be forced to make due with Jerry's preferred holdovers. If an assistant needs to go... they go.

Agreed, and hopefully Jerry also allows Parker to bring the players he wants to bring.

My idea for "I love CP" t-shirts probably won't go over well now that I think about it.

Now let him have input in draft input as Philly doesn't typically grab guys that are slow or can't see/find the ball. Need draft team to listen to his preferences.

Congrats to Christian and his family for getting to work with this talent. It is a dream come true.
It's a nightmare so far......until he turns it into a nice dream job. Work to be done.

I mean you’d have to assume. I think Shotty signed off on it honestly and was probably ok with it and realize fast it was a mistake signing off on it.
Based on the timing and the fact that Eberflus was hired first, it was a job requirement for Schottenheimer. Whoever took the job had to accept the Joneses’ choice of defensive coordinator.

The total opposite of how competent organizations do it.

This marks the first time since Monte Kiffin in 2013 that the Cowboys have not had a former NFL head coach as their defensive coordinator.

Since then, they have had
  • Rod Marinelli (2014-19)
  • Mike Nolan (2020)
  • Dan Quinn (2021-23)
  • Mike Zimmer (2024)
  • Matt Eberflus (2025),

Music to my ears.

Their past methods clearly weren’t working.

I agree to an extent. I think they didn’t have to sell him too hard on Eberflus. But yes I do believe it was brought to him.
