Darnold > Prescott

They drafted McCarthy and Darnold was supposed to back him up. Nobody expected Darnold to put it all together as he has the past 2 years. He is finally looking like the top draft pick.
When the QB shows you he's CLEARLY the better option to start, you don't let him go on a whim for a quarterback that wasn't even that good in college.

Darnold had tons of pedigree. McCarthy did not. They saw Darnold blossum right in front of their eyes, and they didn't keep him in town.

The Vikings are now going to be bad for years.

Darnold was the 3rd pick in the NFL draft and while having all of the physical tools, has had his share of adversity. He has, like Dak, been labeled a “choker” in big games; unlike Dak, he has delivered not only during the season, but on the big stage as evidenced last night. He made some great, accurate throws into tight windows, some under duress when the game was in the balance.
I just don’t know if Dak could do that, given what we saw of him in the playoff game with Green Bay.
Darnold was drafted by the Jets, which had a horrible roster.

Dak was drafted by a team with a Super Bowl ready offense.

Pedigree eventually wins over usually.

I agree but that's exactly what the Vikings did. They spent the 10th overall pick on McCarthy and management probably felt some pressure to justify the investment.

Yep, and that's just so dumb. Take what you lucked into and run with it. McCarthy is either a fallback if it doesn't work out, or tremendous trade capital.

Some orgs get it. Others don't. New England and Seattle clearly do.

Well, Sam Darnold led the Seattle Seahawks to their franchise 5th NFC Conference finals. Will be his first, which makes him a better QB than Dak Prescott.

Sure, all the stats will be thrown out saying Prescott is but stats are for players contracts.
Fans --which Dallas fans are starving for-- ONLY care about ONE thing....WINS.

Then Dallas fans will say Prescott has more wins that Darnold then I say, the ONLY stats fellow starving Cowboys
care about is (FIRST) getting to a NFC Conference finals, which Prescott, nor Romo, has ever accomplished.

Then Dallas fans could/might say, Seattle has a better team around Darnold.
Then again, I say it is about WINS and if the Seahawks have a better team, which now Demarcus Lawrence plays
for and a ProBowler, then that blame directly on the grocery shopper. He buys the groceries and hired the coaches.

Like Demarcus Ware, Mr. Lawrence and future ( or current) Dallas players must get out of Dallas if they want to even play in a NFC Conference game because Jerry's Pride will never allow this franchise to see another conference finals.
It is a business first and the players knows

So I hope Mr. Lawrence gets a chance to play in a Supwerbowl, maybe win it and down the line, sign his one day contract as a Dallas Cowboy as Mr. Ware did.
This is Football Math at it's finest, and the funniest part is you posted this after Darnold's 17-pass victory against San Fransico when the defense held SF to 6 points and their 2-headed monster running game pounded the rock for 175 yards and 3 TDs. Must of been Darnold balling out!

The 2025-26 Seattle Seahawks defense is ranked as the best unit in the NFL, having finished the regular season leading the league in points allowed (17.1 per game). Under head coach Mike Macdonald, the unit also ranked first in defensive DVOA and allowed the sixth-fewest total yards per game (285.6).
Key details on the 2026 Seahawks defense:
  • Scoring Defense: Ranked #1 in the NFL, allowing 17.1 points per game.
  • Total Defense: Ranked 6th in fewest yards allowed per game (285.6).
  • Run Defense: Ranked 1st in yards per rush allowed and opponent success rate (34%).
  • Key Personnel/Stats: Led the league in third-down defense. They utilized nickel/dime packages on over 90% of snaps.
  • Performance: Consistently ranked #1 in defensive DVOA and served as the cornerstone for their 2025 season success.
Not to mention: Seattle's rushing attack was a core part of the offense, which finished the season as a top-10 unit in total yards.

#1 defense + top 10 rushing attack + #1 WR in NFL ≠ Darnald > Dak

Do you think Seattle's defensive performance might have anything to do with Seattle's success, or it this really just a Dak vs Sam conversation?

Do you think Sam Darnold would have had a winning season this year with Dallas' 4th worst ALL-TIME defense?

Just wondering if you factor any of that in to your basesless argument?

Seattle Seahawks Team > Dallas Cowboys Team - I'll def buy that.

He was coming off an injury so no real trade value. After this year, you would be lucky to recoup a 2nd rounder.

Jim Kelly never won a Superbowl in 11 years.

It took Peyton Manning John Elway 14 seasons to win his first Superbowl.

It took Peyton Manning and Drew Brees 9 seasons to win their first Superbowl.

It only took 5 seasons for Trent Dilfer to win his first Superbowl. Thats crazy.
You are correct but most of those guys made it to the SB and CCGs, you need to get to a SB which means get to a CCG. There’s always the odd outlier like Dilfer or the Philly QB. But no one is taking any outlier over the QBs you named

I see your parents didn’t instill critical thinking skills in your youth.

Completely disagree. Darnold is far more talented. Dak has much more experience and risk averse.

Yes Darnold does have some "moments" & I certainly can't say for sure if he'll ever have championship mental side and poise. But if he does, he'll be dangerous.
Nailed it. Darnold was the #3 overall pick and kept getting many chances because he has talent.

Dak...not so much. The only idiot in town who keeps paying Dak top dollar is Jerry. Even Jimmy said he wouldn't have paid Dak. Easiest call in the last 5 years IMO.

Darnold was awesome in that game last night! The way he led his team to victory was something Prescot struggles at. When the bright lights are on, Prescot melts before our eyes. Darnold got off some nice passes while he was under major duress, whereas Prescot would have thrown a pick and it would have been season over for the Cowboys..........

Darnold-8 years and 5 teams and finally makes a Super Bowl

Dak-10 years and 1 team and…
Back to back 14 win seasons with the only QB in NFL history to have led 2 teams to 14 wins. (17 games, but still...)

Dak...uhhh...well...we gotta blame scapegoat Jerry. I'm not buying it (totally).

Of course, Jerry does so much wrong it's easy to obscure the foolhardiness of waiting for Dak to turn into a pumpkin.

actually. defense wins. we know the Darnold couldn't lift a bad team.
Dallas had the 6th worst all time defense in the history of NFL.
Seattle won 3 games scoring 20 or less. those would be losses. add to it a few other games they only scored less than 27 and you end up with a losing record.

give me a defense that gives up average of 17 points a game... over any QB, all day, all night, 8 days a week.

btw,
did anthony richardson have pedigree? lance? zach wilson?

It's heading that way. Allen only has so many years left. He's the next Danny White if he never makes it to a SB.
That's what these yahoos don't get. Ask Buffalo if last year's MVP was enough for Bills ownership, fans or the team? It wasn't. And guess what...I don't blame Sean McDermott for that loss. Or Diggs. Or even his fellow-fumbling RB. It was Josh Allen doing Josh Allen stuff - great one minute, head-scratching dumb the next. So what...Bills fans are supposed to worship Allen's MVP trophy and only recite his highlights?

Hogwash. That's cult-like devotion to a player. They want more.

But somehow...we are supposed to be assuaged by "near-MVP" and "Comeback Player of the Year"?

he is so talented that he is on his 5th team. they love him so much. he reminds me of Cousins a little.

To add, a roster w/ a craptastic OC, the kind that makes their QB hold onto the ball for an NFL high 4.24 seconds before throwing. That was Brock Purdy, BTW. No wonder he can't stay on the field.

he is so talented that he is on his 5th team. they love him so much. he reminds me of Cousins a little.
'Fair comparison. Either is a decent QB who can be good enough w/ enough talent around them. Cannot overpay either.

So what it really comes down to, is do you want a topnotch QB for 55 mil, or do you want an OK QB for 30 mil w/ 2 more quality starters?

he is so talented that he is on his 5th team. they love him so much. he reminds me of Cousins a little.
So Dak is the only one cursed by bad management. The key is this: When you have talent PLUS investment, what do you do with it?

Dak had talented teams, even had 1st and 2nd seed teams...but did nothing with it. Darnold had NO SECURITY the last two years...and went 28-6. You would give your firstborn over if Dak did that.
