Why does how many times per game that Darnold threw the ball relevant? Is there a league rule, or fan consensus, infering that a QB has to average 35+ passes to be considered elite or above average?
This indicates to me a team balanced on offense, complemented by a good defense and special teams.
I seem to remember a once respected franchise that won 3 Super Bowls in the 1990's with a QB that averaged about the same number of passes as Darnold.

How many run first offense are there in the league now?

Those 90's teams were a lifetime ago.

The number of passes thrown illustrates that the QB was never under pressure to carry the team. The lesser number of passes mean that the QB received a great deal of help from both the running game and the defense.

It means that it was rare for this team to play from behind. They didn't have to rely on the passing game to catch up. This is an area that typically results in a higher rate of INTs.

most QBs that pass for more than 32 passes a game have a losing record whendoing so.

Two rings and two SB MVP awards. All other players filling that bill are in the Hall of Fame except Brady and Mahomes who both will be first ballot. You just don't like Eli, and it has clouded your reasoning capabilities.

so you take one single game and make a generalization. those two teams played twice before. there was a lot of familiarity. generally speaking their defense gave up 6 and 13 points (could have shut out the patriots if they really wanted to). and those two played a 37-38 game about a month before that.

patriots gave up 3,16,7 points to get to the superbowl.

and seattle won 3 games during the year scoring 20 points. their defense gave up 20 or less points 12 times...they gave up 17 or less 9 times.... they gave up less than 17 points in 7 games...imagine you score 17 points and win 7 games.

true. that's why defense wins championships. their defense gave up 17 or less points, 9 games...and they gave up less than 17, 7 times. imagine you score 17 points and win 7 games...

Disagree. Eli was an above average QB. Not great. I find it strange that you think it's personal. Maybe it's you who has a weird little mancrush on him?

I live near NYC and commuted there for work for 20 years. They won't get it. If you want the highs and lows of the human experience, NYC and "big cities" are your best bet. If you want the still, tepid, "familiarity" aka coerced conformity of smalltown USA...there's that too. They crap on what they don't understand or never fully enjoyed.

I've enjoyed smalltown USA and I currently live in a major suburb. But I also enjoyed the nights I spent in Gotham City...NOTHING like it.
