Cowboys place 2nd round tender on Aubrey

and maybe have a kicker that misses two or three game winning kicks
But you are happy with the two jags we get with the money
The Jones boys love you
The math works in my favor.

I would rather sign him and watch him get the NFLs longest FG record in a Cowboys uniform.

Do you realize that hardly anything ever works in your favor?

Literally a day or so ago you said that the Raiders would not turn down the Cowboys offer for the Crosby trade. And then they immediately turned it down and took the Raven’s offer instead.

I'm good either way. If we sign him, we have one of the strongest legs in the league and that position is set hopefully for years.

If some other team is willing to sign him in exchange for a second-round pick, I feel that's high draft capital for a kicker and we can use that pick on a regular position, especially with all of our defensive needs, if we turn around and spend a later pick on a kicker.

The player that intrigues me is Kansei Matsuzawa. He kicked for Hawaii and missed just one kick during his time there from 49 yards and in 26 of 27. Unlike some of the other kickers, though, he was only 1 of 2 from 50-plus and doesn't have the leg for the long kicks. He has a very deliberate and controlled kicking approach.

We want a long-range kicker, Florida's Trey Smack might be the player to choose.

Nobody thought they would get two 1st round picks. Did you?

People are insane. Aubrey was at times our MVP. Even if he can't hit every 50+ yard FG anymore, I want him here. Jerry overpays players all the time who don't earn it. Aubrey will earn it. Keep your 2nd round Kneelands.

Except he’s nailing 60+ yd FGs
So what? Other kickers can kick a 60 yard field goal and there are kickers that will be available. You can find a kicker. There will be over 60 kickers in NFL training camps.

A few months ago….folks said Aubrey was our MVP and our best weapon.

Now, folks want to let him go for a 2nd round pick (our recent history in the 2nd is putrid BTW).

People are weird.
Only thing I will say is if they offered to make him highest paid kicker what more do you want from the team? They can’t overpay everyone. This protects Cowboys and hopefully he stays with Dallas

It doesn’t matter what I thought about it.
You however, were absolutely wrong.

And as far as the Cowboys are concerned… You have a tendency to be wrong over, and over, and over, and over again…

At least you didn't lie.

The risk of finding a new kicker probably isn’t worth it.

League min contract is 1M

For the 6M they are paying…low risk.

He is likely gone as UFA next March.

Having an elite kicker is more of a luxury item, this team can't afford.

Id be thrilled getting a second round pick.

HOWEVER, weve also taken some real trash in round 2 and I'd absolutely rather have Butter Aubrey than more trash.

In his favor? Perhaps you're mistaken...

John Rambos kill count:
one in First Blood (1982), 75 in Part II (1985), 115 in III (1988), a record 254 in Rambo (2008), and 46 in Last Blood (2019)

Maybe say that to his enemies.

A 2nd round pick is EXTREMELY valuable. You get a Top 60 player, for very controlled cost, for 4 years.

Here's something all the kooky Zaney Zoners should consider to keep their expectations reastic: if EVERYONE in here is going "yeah, I'll take a 2nd", that's your clue that it would be a very VERY Cowboys friendly deal for some team to exchange that valuable a pick for a kicker, even one without the Yips like Aubrey has.

If it's a VERY Cowboys friendly deal....then think to yourself: "if I was a fan of that team, would I want them to make that deal?"

Or even. "Would I want the Cowboys to trade a 2nd rounder for a kicker?"

Once you start thinking in those terms....the silly notion of us getting a 2nd rounder for a kicker will rightfully leave your heads and you'd stop talking this nonsense

I'm not sure where the numbers currently are but I'd hate to see him go. Just think how valuable Justin Tuck was in Baltimore all those years.
