TRADED Osa traded to 49ers for 3rd rd pick

I would have thought a 3rd was impossible without covering a huge chunk of Osa's salary.

:laugh:All the zoners who told me that Osa would fit into a 34 just fine.
I think Dallas finally got intollerant with guys too soft to play the run.

Think about it: traded generation edge rusher and replaced our interior defense. Flashy sacks against the 3-14 Giants and bottom feeders wasn't winning when teams like Green Bay ran it down their throats with Jacobs.

We should be stingy against the run, but we better bring in some serious reinforcements at CB. Otherwise, it won't matter.

Safety play should be better, but we CB looks like the opposite of our WR room when it comes to talent.

But we are also thin at CB and now DT lol.
That has to be part of the draft plan. Don't forget we need another starting LB.

So, if Rd1 we get 2 of the 3 of the following:

DT: Peter Woods (perfect name for DT, but looks to fit a 4-3 more, but the nickel defence with him and QW would be dangerous)
LB: Styles / Reece
CB: McCoy / Delane

We might actuallty pull this off. EDGE looks much deeper than DT in round one☝️.

Well I was wrong...I didn't think OSA would have much trade value and was hoping they would hang onto him. Not a bad return, but it does worry me about where they now go early on in the draft.

I mean you can get two of those guys and then you still have 2 more massive holes to fill. In this instance, you can't wait to 92 to get an edge.

LB shouldn't even be in the first-round conversation right now.

After the year the 49ers had with injuries they were looking for guys that never get hurt, Odighizuwa fits the bill.

Good trade for both i think.
That's going to be interesting. There is a theory that all the injuries were due to the Niners' practice facility being right next to a big power plant.

If Osa starts getting injured all of sudden it will make you wonder about that theory.

Might be but we don’t have a second and I would take him at 20. Maybe we grab Allen at 20 or we hit the jackpot and Styles falls to 12.
Ill take Rodriguez or Allen at 20. Im good with taking Theineman at 12 also. I don't really care if we reach a bit without a second. We need to get good players on this defense.

Its unfortunate we haven't gotten at least one more productive free agent at CB, LB or edge. If we end up drafting for value I see us going with DE and CB in round one. Then we end up putting a ton of responsibility on a 3rd round rookie LB.

Yes i read that as well, pretty crazy theory, Osa has only missed 1 game in his career

He fits their 4-3
Raheem Morris has the same Fangio type defense(Aaron Donald played in it when he coached the Rams). The difference is Osa can play the 3T there and here Quinnen is playing that spot.

Jerry Jones on the Cowboys trading DT Osa Odighizuwa to the 49ers: “We needed to spread it around a little bit on what we have available to us with (the salary cap). More importantly, we can put it in some places that probably get more mileage out of what it’s done. That’s not taking anything away from him individually, but we’ve got two outstanding football players (Quinnen Williams, Kenny Clark), we have other backup players, plus we don’t want to rule out drafting a player. So, we thought that was the best move." …

“(Odighizuwa) has such high character. He’s done such an amazing job in his career. You could say, ‘Well, aren’t you going the wrong way when people of his quality, his caliber, aren’t on the team?’ But that’s the reason we were able to get what we thought was a really beneficial result for the team. We got the (third-round draft pick). (That pick) will be very helpful to us. And (that) also lets us put those resources that we’re going to spend there in some other spots we need help.”
