Matt Hennessy’s PFF grades for the 2025 season with the 49ers show a ~67.1 overall grade, 63.4 pass block grade, and 66.4 run block grade in a limited starting role. Previously, in his 2022 season, he achieved a strong 76.4 overall grade, including an 88.1 run-blocking grade. He is considered an athletic, run-first center suitable for outside zone schemes.

Key PFF Grade Highlights

• 2025 (49ers):In 3 games, he posted a 67.1 overall grade, 63.4 in pass-blocking, and 66.4 in run-blocking, with 0 sacks allowed

Hennessy has a history of strong run-blocking, often ranking among the top centers in that metric during his time in Atlanta. He has also demonstrated proficiency as a pass-blocker when starting, particularly in 2021 and during his 2025 stint with San Francisco

Thank you Carson, that was very nice. Hennessey is quite a bit bigger than Hoffman 6-3 315. Looks like a nice backup center to me, another good signing that brings much needed depth to the offensive line. GO COWBOYS.

It means Brock Hoffman is officially not coming back.

Seems to be this guy is a slight improvement over Hoffman. Nasty mauler with attitude. I never heard of the guy honestly. Had to go research. I think this was a move to give us flexibility.

I think this fanbase would have been very happy keeping Hoffman. In all due respect, grading doesn't give me confidence. We had a guy here who did his job very well when asked, and then showed him the door

One of the better college centers when he came out. 3rd round I believe. If memory serves he has a started quite a few games, Im a big Brock fan but we will be fine with Hennesy as C 2.

Hopefully he is on the bench all year lol solid depth though
