Cowboys Offseason Feels Like More Hope Than Progress

That's funny. So loaded that the very first move they made this offseason was to get a new edge player.

Some Zone armchair GMs lack in evaluation skills more than others.
LOL
That's because they traded Parsons.

I could bring up the same type of posts from 2024, 2023, 2022

Its a never ending pot of stupidity and Jerry worship.

im liking the off season so far. Regardless of the previous years, i see some new trends, i hope Jerry gives CP some time and honestly i dont care the record next year if Jerry leaves the coaches alone, or at least a minimum

This idea that people are not sold on Parker because he’s never been a DC before is some irony to me because at some point that could be said about every DC who has been a DC; and really, that could be said about every coach who has ever been a coach.
How many NFL DC's have never been DC's at any other level before they became NFL DC's? Not many, I'll venture.

i know we lost out on Leonardhead or whatever, i cant keep up like i used to, but for choices, id rather the young guy who can build with us and hopefully be giving time. A lot of people were praising this guy even out of the Eagles organization. If we didnt get someone iwth recognition, i would have said Jerry played us, but this time he got a young guy and that says something different.

Hope, there is no hope. This team sucks. Jerry sucks. Steven sucks. The uniforms suck. Their parking lot sucks, and their fans suck.

-Legitimate hope for a trophy, no.
-The team doesn't quite suck yet but consecutive 7 win seasons is trending in the wrong direction.
-I won't judge Jerry or Stephen as men because we've all got our own faults but as NFL team builders they have sucked at their job for 3 decades now.
-The uniforms definitely don't suck and are an American icon like the Yankee pinstripes.
-A parking lot is a parking lot and a fan is a fan, they both serve their purpose no more no less.

Yes, I don’t get your point. Every first time DC is going to have to prove themselves just as Parker is going to have to.
You don’t get my point??? I said exactly what you just said…..everyone, at some point, has had to prove themselves.

You get me a veteran LB (Bobby O/ Wagner) before the draft and I can not complain to much. Because you can follow a defensive BPA approach. The issue is will they invest in a veteran ILB in free agency/trade?

The Cowboys might be better this year or they might be worse, but they do seem to be making more and better quality moves than in the past.

I don’t understand why people don’t understand that whether you are signing a player, re-signing a player or trading for a player that at some point the compensation that the team is giving up makes it a bad deal, regardless how good the player is.

I'm an Iggles' fan. I'm sure there are players who really like him. But, he has no experience designing a defense on any level. Maybe he'll turn out great. But, as George Bernard Shaw once said about second marriages, "It's a triumph of hope over experience."

That does not negate my point. Even a DC on ANY level has been a first time DC at some point.
It does. There's a lot less riding on whether a first-time DC has success at the high school level than it does when he's a DC for an NFL team and has had no experience anywhere as a DC.

I don't feel we've exactly armed Parker for success so far, but we'll see how it goes. I mean, I think Gary, Thompson and Durant are better than some of what we put out there last year, but I'm not sure they are that much better. Is Ogbonnia better than Osa and Thomas? Maybe a better fit, but I don't believe we can say he's a better player.

Obviously, what we do in the first round of the draft will go a long way toward deciding if the defense is better, but a lot of rookies just don't have that great of an impact because it's a hard jump to the NFL. There are no Southeastern Northwest States here.
