Emmanuel Acho Brilliantly Breaks Down Trades That Fits For The 3-4

I've seen Acho be pretty critical of the Cowboys FO, especially when they were consistently the lowest participants in free agency......but of course so were 95% of us.

If anyone wants to actually watch the clip and actually listen to what Acho said, he was spot on.

Osa did not fit this scheme. Period. And maybe some of the free agent names we've been banging our heads into the wall for not signing didn't fit either.
I'm with you. Acho is not a football idiot, but I also don't think he's got Jimmy's eye for talent. That said, he was talking about the ideal nose tackle (not the exceptions) and I think he was spot on with his take.

If they are using a three-man line, they have to have at least three starters and a backup or two on the DL. I'm not sure that we have that unless Ogbonnia and his cheap, one-year contract is considered a starter.

I understand why they got rid of Winfrey, Osa and Thomas, but that doesn't mean they didn't hurt their depth for now. I'm sure we'll add a DT or two in the draft, and they may not do anything more at the position in FA. I also don't think they will do anything more at OLB or anything at LT, other than maybe re-signing Adeniji as a backup.
He was basically a starter in 2024 so yes the guy can start as a spot starter when they Go to a rotation in a few more down lineman yes he can that's why they brought him here I guarantee Parker wanted him he's a little bigger stronger then maybe some of the guys they cut maybe in the run game I don't know i'm trusting the reason they got rid of these guys is cause the ones they added or left on the can handle spot duty rotation starting They rotate a lot of the these guys out And don't forget Toia I know you're going to write him off but maybe not in this defense in year two..

They might add a late DT but I don't think they're going to add one until the 5th round when they have all those extra picks but sure maybe they'll pick up somebody but I think they're fine now or they wouldn't have made the move... Believe if we had a game tomorrow they 'd be comfortable with IDL..

But they aren't comfortable with is the linebacker group as a whole I don't care if it's middle linebacker or outside linebacker to run this defense that's where it's locking the most that is the biggest weakness right now because they basically got rid of most of our linebackers from last year...

And they haven't replaced one so hopefully maybe a guy like Bobby Okereke, This grade in the free agent grades is not that far off from Quay Walker and they wanted Quay Walker so he's still there I hope they pick him up and in the draft they need linebackers Yes we need other positions but linebackers will be the key They both did their safety group I think they rearranged it into your defensive tackle but they need an outside linebacker and a middle linebacker maybe three mixed I don't know how they want to do it but that's where I'd be concerned..

Best hope this new 3-4 D works out. If it doesn't, there are going to be lots of calls to blow it all up.

only problem is that we don’t have a second pass rushing DT in the nickel, which we will be playing 70% of the time. I don’t see Clark in that role. Add in the fact we don’t have a second edge rusher and things get scary

I think they will use Gary for a lot of that but that means we really need edge lol

Yeah people don’t like him but he’s right and to be honest out of everyone I’ve heard he seems to be the only one who gets what they are trying to do.
Clarence Hill said pretty much the same thing on DLLS Cowboys Youtube channel. He also pointed out, what makes people think Osa was so great to all of those lamenting his loss. Was he a pro bowl player? No, was he an all pro? Also no. He only played good next to Micah. He isn't super strong or fast. He is just good...not great. I would argue that even tho he gave Dallas a "home town discount" he wasn't actually worth that much. Before Kenny and Quinnen he was our best dlineman besides Micah, but that is more of an indictment of the talent we had on the dline talent than an indicator that he was great.

I didn’t hear Hill say that but he’s saying everything I’ve been thinking….
