No red shirt rookies, do we really believe Jerry?

Jerry states we don't want to red shirt any rookies this season, due to our lack of evaluation and instead going with our hearts decision on these players. What good does it help us if we draft someone and they've been injured, or are coming off an injury/surgery. They will need proper time to heal, while we're counting on them being an integral part of our team for that season.

Does anyone believe that Jerry has changed his mind for real and the light is shining, or is this just talk?? Please give your thoughts

I believe Jerry but fans are going to be divided with this draft. They will either overpay for a player to move up to get or draft good players at low value positions.

I think there is a hint of truth to it.

They rely on the draft for year 1 players for draft days 1/2.

Having someone like Revel, who initially was thought to be cleared for the season, miss all of TC and ~half of the season was a waste of a rookie year contract.

Now, will they find themselves in a situation where the value is too great in round 3? Dunno. But in theory I think they want to hit on guys who can play right away cause they are too arrogant to use Free agency effectively.

Very true, hopefully this year is different from us. I wonder how much CP has influenced this mode of thinking that we need these guys to be available!?

Second round is for day 1 starters…..if you want a redshirt rookie then 6th and 7th rounders are where you go

Look I understand what you're saying but all teams do it they see the potential Nakobe Dean was that very guy with the Eagles and now look, he's doing pretty well in the NFL, like it is always a risk but sometimes it's a risk worth taking I'm pretty sure last year they did it in the 3rd round Revel was the 3rd rounder, I don't remember the draft but I'm pretty sure..

The reason he says it in this particular draft It's because they're short on draft picks They got lucky to pick up a third they have no second and I got a lot of holes to fill so I think he sees that this draft they need to come out with guys who can start game one and I believe the whole team is healthier we're not waiting on a lot of guys on PUP knock on wood unless something happens in practice or camp this will be one of the healthier off seasons that we've had in a while I don't think anybody is coming off major surgery that will hold them up or make them be on PUP I think they're all going to be at this point in camp..

I think if Styles, Downs, and Delane are off the board at #12 along with the edge rushers that leaves Dallas with two options, select McCoy or trade down to select the next tier of defenders.

Selecting the next tier of defenders at #12 would be a waste of draft capital.

My ideal draft(depending on Pro day) are McCoy and CJ Allen.

Isn't that exactly what we're saying not to do both those guys are coming off injuries and didn't really participate much in the combine or pro day CJ Allen slow Stiff i'm not sure you even want to take him at 20 I know it's talent that you should take but this year we are lacking in a 2nd round pick The Cowboys need a lot of starters the red shirt thing those two dudes are exactly what we're talking about..

Major red flag when you have a cornerback and I believe that's the guy we're talking about that's 18 months removed and still couldn't participate in the combine and not doing much to show teams that he's ready why would you take that type A dude when we're talking about we can't risk that this year we need guys that can start game one healthy They need to go through camp and be ready..

I don’t think he will early in the draft. I have no problem taking a guy later who fell because of injury since you have 3 more years with him. Just not top 3 rounds

Mccoys pro day is gonna be interesting. Super talent, injusted early last year, but didn’t workout at combine

I interpreted this to mean he' not drafting injured guys like Jaylon Smith and Revel. If you can't play right now, we aren't drafting you with fingers crossed for the 2027 season.

The draft sucks overall. In a normal draft none of the top 5 players would be in the top 10. The Cowboys will have no choice but to reach. Parsons would have went number 2 in this draft and we got him at 12.
