You get Al-Shaair and the options at 12 are wide open
THIS. I mean, exactly this. For Brooks you give up the 3rd you got for OSA and don't look back and then get him signed long term. With the recent secondary/Safety signings you add Brooks and the 2 first round picks you have transformed you D.
I think it might be more like the Pickens deal because coming off a first-team All-Pro season, Brooks is liable to want to be paid like the top linebacker in the league, and we're not going to do that. I could see them seeing how he does this year and then tagging him. Technically, we could tag him a couple of times to retain his rights.I would be into it as long as Brooks is ready to agree to a long term extension. I need him
On more than a one year deal.
People who aren’t willing to make changes like this for third, fourth, or fifth round draft pick trades, should not be allowed to comment when the team does bad, and when the draft picks bust!!!Not for a 3rd round pick.
Especially if the last year of his contract. They would need to renegotiate it. So now knowing this, not even for a 4th.
Maybe a 5th since he would be another 1 year rental.
Can tag him twice, so there's no danger there really. But since we don't have a second anyway, I'd go as high as our third and a fifth next year. Someone mentioned offering Bass and a fifth, and I think that would be a good offer, too.I get that G, but I've got to give him a new contract or risk losing him after the 2026 season. I will go not higher than a 3rd.......
I have a more interesting question than durability on Overshown. Where does Overshown fit in this new defense? Alternatively, could Overshown serve as a BIG nickel safety? So the questions remain do they stick with Overshown and his durability issues as the only capable vet LB?
OR sign one so as not to make linebacker such a "must be a homerun" pick type of pressure...?
And if choosing to sign one, at what cost?
Hint: Some real GM'ing needs to take place here.
Hope we've got the right man for the job, lol.

Need to be in their minds before the draftI wonder if they will have these two in mind if they fail to address the need in the draft.
Please dont sign him.Not to sound politcal here but with all the kneeling for the flag issues and Jerrys stance do you think he's going to sign a LB that likes to use his NFL platform to protest things:
from Google:
"Al-Shaair is a practicing Muslim and has been a vocal advocate for Palestinian rights. In January 2026, he drew national attention for wearing eye black with the message "STOP THE GENOCIDE" during a post-game interview after the Texans' playoff win over the Pittsburgh Steelers."
Good call. I too struggle with putting all eggs in the basket of believing Overshown automatically returns to pre-surgery form.I have a more interesting question than durability on Overshown. Where does Overshown fit in this new defense? Alternatively, could Overshown serve as a BIG nickel safety?
If we got Brooks, especially for a third, I wouldn't want another actual linebacker with our first two picks. I think we have our starters in Overshown and Brooks, but I would add one or two late for depth.THIS. I mean, exactly this.
Get Brooks or Al-Shair then draft another LB and an edge with the first 2 picks and you will see my optimistic side begin to show. All that would be left is signing a vet left tackle.
BUT PLEASE DO THIS JERRY!
Yeah and soon as a slice of grass hits #0 on his leg, he's out for 9 games!!If we got Brooks, especially for a third, I wouldn't want another actual linebacker with our first two picks. I think we have our starters in Overshown and Brooks, but I would add one or two late for depth.
I'd be looking at edge/OLB, corner and DT/DE with those first two picks, possibly sliding around a little to try to match value at those positions to the pick, and to pick up at least another early pick.
ObviouslyTrades?
Do not give up high draft picks. Give up round 5 or 6 or 7 only.
And people should not allowed to make comments to make changes when it is detrimental for the team. Because they do not know any better than others.People who aren’t willing to make changes like this for third, fourth, or fifth round draft pick trades, should not be allowed to comment when the team does bad, and when the draft picks bust!!!
