Nick Harris: FO considering LBers AL-Shaair and Brooks

I like Rodriguez too, but just like Allen I am drafting him for his run defense not his ability to cover. Styles separates himself cause of his special coverage skills
I actually like Rodriguez a lot in zone coverage. He just has a knack for getting himself in the throwing lanes… probably because he’s an ex-QB. He just knows where to be and his quick reactions and his great change of direction allows him to get there quicker than the QB thinks he will.

If Styles is there you take him, O can not stay healthy.
I agree you take him. Just not sure you sign a long term deal with a vet too. I’m all for signing a guy but trading and then extending doesn’t seem the best way.

I don’t think there’s much chance he’ll be there… but if he is, you’d have some teams wanting to move up for him.
I’d just draft him lol then you have a young stud. I want to add a LB, but not so sure it makes sense to trade for a guy you then have to give an extension too

Both Rodriguez and Allen have the best instincts at the position in the class, even more so then Styles, where he is still learning the position.

When you listen to CP’s opening press conference, he specifically said he is looking for high iq, instinctive, physical players. Think both are ideal fits

It’s a pipe dream brother. Expect a Kenneth Murray type and them to overdraft CJ Allen
I have faith in our draft because of McClay. But yeah not expecting a trade or even an easy low risk signing like Wagner Pratt or Okereke. Fuggin Jerry man

Hill and C.J. Allen are two completely different players, and Hill is being asked to do things that don’t really fit his game. His value is as a pass rusher. Let him attack the quarterback and he’ll thrive. Try to force him into a true MLB role, and it’s probably not going to work.

If we end up drafting Hill, going after Wagner as the middle linebacker should be the move. Wagner would steady the entire defense and let Hill play to his strengths. That combo would upgrade the linebacker group almost right away and put everyone in a better position to succeed.
I think we should go after Wagner regardless. Im all for greybeards. Especially after last season where no knew where anything was

I think they may wind up punting on LB in the 1st. They love Perkins and he is more of a 3rd/4th round guy. He would have likely been in the top 50 if not for his 2024 knee injury. I can see a combo of either Brooks/Al Shaair and Perkins. With Perkins ultimately replacing Overshown

Living in DC I am able to/forced to watch the Commanders and their coverage.

Wagner is no longer the player he was just two seasons ago. He was a liability in coverage. Washington being willing to move on says a lot. He and DQ have history together yet he is not someone they felt the need to bring back to a bad defense.

Pass on Bobby Wagner. He was what the team needed in 2022 and 2023 but Stephen Jones low balled him as usual. 2026, he is not someone Dallas needs to invest in.

Unless Warner really is available, Brooks is the best guy attainable this offseason. Al-Shaair is a nice alternative, but he gets nicked up here and there.
Warner only played 6 games last season.
- He spent the remainder of the season on IR.
- Broken and dislocated Ankle that required surgery.
- He turn 30 during the 2026 season.

My question about Rodriguez is they tested well, but doesn’t look athletic on tape
Some guys projected as mid/late round picks go all-in training for the combine.

Some guys with known elite athleticism don't train for the combine (Dez).

If these are accurate Jordyn Brooks is just as bad in pass coverage.

Jordyn Brooks pff pass grade 52.7 (77.8 overall, 92.0 run grade, 90.4 tackling grade)
Bobby Wagner pff pass grade 52.3 (78.6 overall, 90.3 run grade, 90.5 tackling grade)

He’s definitely worth the pick, for sure.
Just yesterday I said I was out on him, but then I had the same thought.

Id be pissed if we took him and our fears were confirmed, because it would've been so freaking obvious. Lol
CJ Allen definitely has some limitations athletically.
- His movements look awkward.
- He seems to overcome those limitation in college, but it's a big concern with regards to the 1st round.
- I would be happy with him in the 2nd round if they trade down.

Shouldn’t the film be the top thing to evaluate the player? Some players play faster where some play slower the their timed speed and agility testing scores

They have those two backers as an option if they don’t draft a linebacker

Not sure how I feel about Brooks, tbh. Especially since we have no idea what the Dolphins would ask for him as he comes off of an All-Pro campaign. I believe he needs an extension as well.
