Osa’s contract was awful. Only Dallas would hand that kind of money to an underperforming DT while someone like Josh Sweat was available for less. Yeah, I get it — different positions. DT vs DE. But the point still stands.

You can find a serviceable DT almost anywhere. Plug a guy in, let him eat space, and move on. Pass rushers like Sweat don’t grow on trees. That’s the kind of player you invest in if you actually want pressure off the edge for the next few years.

He’s played in like 17 of a possible 21 games and last year he was average at best.

No, we are saying this is kind of surprising since Jerry is usually not proactive and often waits too long to sign his own stars.

Both are far less than the going rates.

The signing of JSN to 42M per year has bumped up the tag more than 20% in 2027. So, we are looking at something closer to 37-38M next year to tag him. That's not palatable. That's a one year cap hit. How far out we pushing Dak's contract to make that work?

The “pointless strategy” would be overspending on offense, believing that you have to pay two receivers at the top of the market to be successful. That’s patently false.

I tend to agree. It could very well just be a one year deal. I wouldn’t like it, but I understand it. You just can’t over invest so much at receiver.

That’s a really dumb question. Of course teams would want Pickens. He was one of the top three receivers last year and commands double coverage.

If he hadn’t been tagged, Denver absolutely would’ve gone after him. I’m on a Denver forum and there was a lot of buzz about wanting him. They even gave up a first and a third for Waddle, who isn’t in the same league as Pickens. So yeah, teams clearly want him.

Sure, but that's not the question. Do they want to pay a one year wonder huge money, that is the question. Will his production be sustained? Is he over the attitude issues? Too many questions for that price tag.

Osa = T Crawford. We did exactly the same thing w/ him. Both are decent rotational types. Jerry doesn't like drafting DT's, or D in general. Soooo, when someone shows even the slightest sign of life, he pays them big then goes back to his TEs and WRs.

Totally agree, my fear is that he'll have a great season and will play in ALL games, get a nice deal, then we question his durability again if that injury bug creeps back up on him. That's my big fear with him

A full, productive season won’t get him a deal from the Dallas. It takes more than one year for a player to prove himself to the Cowboys.
