not happening but let’s say he gets traded, he’d have to want to come here as he has a no trade clause I believe and other than being a Dallas area guy- do we think he’ll honestly feel we are his best chance at a superbowl?

2) the cowboys could absolutely trade next years first because they could use a poison pill in the deal that turns a 2nd round pick into a 1 if he is on the roster past a certain date.

3) likely looking at 3 firsts for him….. lol at anyone thinking Pickens is a piece in this or has any involvement at all.

3 firsts for garret……better go get a lineback then too.

Garrett IS worth more than Pickens when it comes to potential draft compensation. And it really isn't close. No way in hell will Pickens command two first rounders PLUS his salary...let alone three.

And no trade can happen until Pickens signs the tag. So he has a say in where and who he would be traded to...if it comes to that. The Cowboys are not shopping him and no teams have been linked to the Cowboys in any potential trade scenario. The Browns would take an extremely prohibitive 41 million dollar cap hit if they trade Garrett before June 1. This makes a trade before the draft unlikely.
Where just posting scenarios and suggestions. In reality the Cowboys are not trading Pickens. He is part of the plan which is to have him play on the tag. We can fantasize all we want but the Cowboys have a budget and the reality is the trade for Gary and trade of Osa killed any dreams of the Cowboys signing or trading for a top flight player.

I don’t believe the Cowboys are trading those two first round picks for one player. They might trade up a couple of spots by using a 3rd day pick but they need cheap draft capital to fill out the roster. I big sign to me is that all their assistant coaches are young and teachers. You don’t bring those coaches in for Crosby, Garrett, ect…..

Jerry will never get 2 first for Micah because they will then have to pay him $40M+.

How did that work out?
I'm not sure I know how to talk to someone who's mental processing goes like this: a pass rusher who was consistently a top 5 best defensive player in the league (Micah), in his prime, ....gets traded for 2 firsts to a play-off team (so likely picks in the 20s).

Since THAT happened....this too must also be realistic: a one pump chump WR (far less important than pass rusher)who has only really played well one year.. his CONTRACT YEAR (surprise surprise).. .who's been a major character concern his whole career... should be enough compensation to trade for the best defensive player in a generation, who just got 23 sacks, who single handedly wrecks games, whose a great lockerrom guy and face of a franchise, and can literally be mentioned in the same breath as Reggie White and Lawrence Taylor.

I could more easily talk to someone who thinks their 1991 Toyota Corolla with 450,000 miles on it is worth $80,000 because they put new rims on it.

That's a flaw of mine though....not being able to tolerate silly people. I'm working on it. Once I get there....I'll get back with you.

If we get Garrett we get 4 more wins a season. That would have us drafting in the 25+ range. Another Mazi Smith type. So youre giving up Bain, Allen and a trash Dlineman for a guy who broke the sack record with a terrible team who never had the lead in games and if they did it was because of him. Now is the time to risk a trade like this because in 3-4 years this entire team will be blown up anyways.

Would you do it? Both 1st rounders in this draft or 2026 and 2027 1st rounders.
Tough call.......he would instantly upgrade your defense

WE aren't 1 player away and Garrett as good as he is will be entering his 30's where his peak will only last so long.

Why would the Browns want Pickens?

And why at such a discount on Garrett?

Are you being serious?
LOL....they won't
Take it a step further ........why trade for him if
*cost $35M and 1st rounders and anorther draft pick
* Pair him with one of the worst QB rooms in the league
* They have enough capital to draft TWO top 10 WRs

I'm 100% confident you WILL NOT hear Pickens mentioned in any trade by a legit source outside of this board.
As stated before, the talk is silly........

If they want our 2 1st rounders....you do it NOW!!!! This front office has shown ZERO evidence that they can draft and develop a difference maker like Garrett, so why would you NOT do it?

People say we are not 1 player away....well last year we proved losing 1 player resulted in the worst defense in franchise HISTORY!!!!

And Garrett is much better than Parsons!

We gave up 2 1st rounders for Galloway. 2 1st rounders for Roy Williams. Green Bay gave up 2 1st rounders for Parsons....and y'all would not do it for Garrett???
I think the new defensive coordinator will have something to do with this year’s draft. It’s not the same cowboy.

charles haley was a missing piece to a great defense. we were the worst defense in the league and 6th all time worst defense. one player is not going to lift it to greatness. great pice. great player. but what did cleveland accomplish with him? and if he is great piece of the puzzle, why is cleveland wanting the draft picks instead?
CFH i see your point, but this is NOT the same defense that was on the field/started the season last year. The coaching staff is not the same. My point is he will take our CURRENT defense to the middle of the league at worse, combine that is with our offense and we would have a contending squad. Trust me!!

3 1st for a 31 yo? Not realistic

Just spitballing here but Pickens was just 25 years old and is at the beginning of what looks like a very productive career and Garrett just had a career year at 30 years old and is on the back side of his career.
After 30 NFL players age in dog years you never know when a player is going to hit the wall after that
Right, but the Browns? They are far from contending and don’t even have a QB. Full rebuild

They need picks

As stated before........ our window is now. We only need his peak 2-4 years. Hell, he's coming off a 23 sack season. Garrett and legit MLBer make us SB contender...........
He wouldn't be enough if we are giving up all our top picks in the next 2 years.

Not really. They badly need a wide receiver and Pickens is a difference maker and easily worth at least one first round pick and then some. Throw in number 20 and you have the makings of a deal. Its a fair deal for both sides.
The Cowboys have a better than decent quarterback, had Lamb, and Pickens and the “difference” Pickens made was a half game better than the previous year, two wins more than Cleveland. Even Cleveland can see a stout defense is what would have been a “difference maker” for Dallas, obviously not George Pickens.

If the hapless Cleveland Brown realize they need 10 or 12 new good players you’d think the Cowboys would, too. It’s not like either of them are going to the Super Bowl with Garrett or Pickens.

Garrett would no doubt be of great help, but all he would probably do is get us to a wild card spot and then a playoff team would just work around Garrett and we'd still not make the SB.

Besides, what has Cleveland done when they had him?

One great player alone doesn't make a SB winner...

I am sure you were one of those people who said that last year.

He wouldn't be enough if we are giving up all our top picks in the next 2 years.
I would only do it give it up 2026 to first round picks.
He not just any one player he is the best player defensively in the NFL. That matters. For example is like adding Mahone to a team versus Baker Mayfield. We will have to disagree on this one because I have no doubt in my mind add him and we become a super bowl contender as long as we get a legit middle linebacker.

As I mentioned in another post if you told me we could flip Parsons for QW, Clark and Miles Garrett and still have the first round pick in 2027, I'll take that everyday everyday.
