And we have 3 of them so trading one away is great for a 1 year rental in Brooks.

I could see this happening. They changed their outside FA based on Carr not being Deion Sanders. I could see them basing their own-player FA strategy after how they handled Parsons. I think we'll see for sure if Pickens has another great season with good behavior and we tag him again or let him walk in free agency.

I have no idea what they’ll get. It really all depends what other teams are willing to give up, info we are not privy to and we can only guess, and my guess would be a third.

But if they keep him this year and let his contract expire in 2027 after the 2026 season, they wouldn’t get a comp for him until the 2028 draft. So I don’t think it’s a consideration for the Dolphins if they really want to get rid of him.

Well, none of those players you named are on the level of Brooks except, maybe, Lloyd.

I totally agree that the cowboys suck at free agency but if they somehow land Brooks, then it makes those other LBs irrelevant.

Given how thin the Cowboys’ options are at linebacker, the pool is shrinking fast, and they’re getting closer to the point where they probably won’t land a quality player at the position.

This is why patience is the key to acquiring Brooks.....I don't think they have any intention of him being on the 2026 roster. As stated before........the 3rd round we got for Osa is more than enough.

I agree. But I wish they went after other free agents like Devin Bush or even Quincy Williams. Would have been easier to get than Brooks who might not even end up with Dallas.

I don't expect him to capitulate. I expect him to eventually receive market value. I just wouldn't do it until we're sure of what we got. Once reason the Joneses abandoned free agency is because they didn't feel they were getting what they paid for. A way to avoid that is by bringing in a player like this and find out what you are getting before paying for it. The tag is just a tool if they can't get a deal done before the free agency deadline next year.

The Jones abounded free agency bc they don't have the expertise to have any confidence in what they are doing. Free agency is a huge part of success in the NFL. We just don't have a Les Snead or Howie Roseman in the front office. That said, when you sign a player coming off an all-pro season, there is a lot less guess work. We haven't signed a free agent of that caliber since La Ron Glover back in the early 2000's and he worked out just fine.

There are valid reasons why he might not fetch as much as you think but I guess you’re the expert and only you know. What team do you work for?
