Waddle was the last player to move in a decent sized trade. If that were true are teams really afraid of him to this degree
I totally agree. They would just need to extend him ASAP so they don’t give up a 3rd for a 1 year rental.Go get Brooks with out 3rd rounder and don't look back. He is a stud in the middle and exactly what CP needs for his D.
I think Pickens is doing a disservice to himself by not taking the big money don't be low balled by JerryWaddle was the last player to move in a decent sized trade.
Things are just kind of dead now.
I also firmly believe that part of Jerry’s “all in” plan this year includes playing Pickens on the tag.
He doesn’t want to trade him.
He feels he needs him
He doesn’t want to extend him
Because he can just tag him
Pickens has the misfortune to have missed out on the “Jerry takes care of his guys” version of the owner/GM
He’s got the “cutthroat miser” version.
Parsons wasn’t an outlier. He was the new way Jerry is going to deal with star players
I think it will take more than a 5th...because if dolphins hold on and he signs FA somewhere next year, assumuing he plays at the same high level, they could end up with a 3rd. it took a 3rd to get Pickens in the last year of his contract.Calling cost nothing.
Dolphins probably want too much. And Jerry is not biting.
A 5th rounder would be great, as he is in the last year of his contract.
And we have 3 of them so trading one away is great for a 1 year rental in Brooks.
Jerry says, take the 5th as shark bait. And it is tough to give up a 5th….oh wait, a 5th of JWB.
And they wouldn’t see that pick for two years and then have to pay him this year.I think it will take more than a 5th...because if dolphins hold on and he signs FA somewhere next year, assumuing he plays at the same high level, they could end up with a 3rd. it took a 3rd to get Pickens in the last year of his contract.
but I like the way you think
they would see it next year....right?And they wouldn’t see that pick for two years and then have to pay him this year.
I could see this happening. They changed their outside FA based on Carr not being Deion Sanders. I could see them basing their own-player FA strategy after how they handled Parsons. I think we'll see for sure if Pickens has another great season with good behavior and we tag him again or let him walk in free agency.Waddle was the last player to move in a decent sized trade.

I have no idea what they’ll get. It really all depends what other teams are willing to give up, info we are not privy to and we can only guess, and my guess would be a third.they would see it next year....right?
I go back to the pickens trade. one of the top WR in the league, fetched a 3rd. if he is one of the top LBs, they may want at least a 3rd. he is not murray to fetch a 5th
Given how thin the Cowboys’ options are at linebacker, the pool is shrinking fast, and they’re getting closer to the point where they probably won’t land a quality player at the position.Well, none of those players you named are on the level of Brooks except, maybe, Lloyd.
I totally agree that the cowboys suck at free agency but if they somehow land Brooks, then it makes those other LBs irrelevant.
Where did you hear thisI heard the holdup is that the Cowboys front office doesn't know if it has a firm commitment from Brooks camp on that 4 year $13 dollars extension they're offering yet.

I agree. But I wish they went after other free agents like Devin Bush or even Quincy Williams. Would have been easier to get than Brooks who might not even end up with Dallas.Brooks would be far and way better than having Dean or Walker if so.
The Jones abounded free agency bc they don't have the expertise to have any confidence in what they are doing. Free agency is a huge part of success in the NFL. We just don't have a Les Snead or Howie Roseman in the front office. That said, when you sign a player coming off an all-pro season, there is a lot less guess work. We haven't signed a free agent of that caliber since La Ron Glover back in the early 2000's and he worked out just fine.I don't expect him to capitulate. I expect him to eventually receive market value. I just wouldn't do it until we're sure of what we got. Once reason the Joneses abandoned free agency is because they didn't feel they were getting what they paid for. A way to avoid that is by bringing in a player like this and find out what you are getting before paying for it. The tag is just a tool if they can't get a deal done before the free agency deadline next year.
You lost me at "done"... Shouldn't that be "don't"?Your opinions are not facts. That is just dumb just like your post. And I done necessarily think you’re wrong. But no one knows what he’s going to get in a trade until he actually is traded. There are valid reasons why he might not fetch as much as you think but I guess you’re the expert and only you know. What team do you work for?
